what was the reason for u selling ur HD? was it cause of the cost?

nah the cost was alrite. im quite tall and big sized...so the sporty was kinda cramp for me...my wife refuses to sit pillion on it...end of the day im the only one enjoying so i kinda gave the sporty up to get something that both my wife and i can enjoy..well she wants a car now...but she does not object me to gtting a big twin...so guess i'll try to get the car for her 1st...then i'll work towards a big twin.

HD has proven himself all over the world. I have seen some chaps in this forum swear blind they wouldn't ride a HD, yeah, NOT.

I guess you could be right.

I once swore I would never even consider riding a HD 'cos I always thought they were underpowered for their engine CC. And that old fashioned engine.

But then they came out with the V-Rod. Well, that proved to me that they could come into the 21st century. So that's a one HD I wouldn't mind riding. Looks modern and decent too.

Now, if they could only come up with a bike that's fast and flicky.

Thanks everyone for your 2/5 cents of thoughts. it worths more than that to me. i guess i should stick to a cheaper alternative till i am financially stable to pamper myself with a HD.

Hey there Cumified...I've been away for quite a while and seems like there's a lot of discussions going on still here in this forum...

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth, since you asked nice...Looking at your situation, well, a lot of my riding friends even though they are out of the NS and working for quite a number of years, it still boils down to the monies.... For instance, you don't have to get a class 2 bike if your monies won't allow you too, but you can get a class 2A bike instead and put in a little bit of love (customising) to it and wallah!!!!, you get yourself a nice looking bike, done to what you want it to be and you'll appreciate it more...

What i'm trying to say is, it is not neccessary to get something and then you'll have to suffer paying for it through your nose and whatever holes that blood can gush out from...And worst of all, if you really really (die, die!) want to get that class 2 bike, and swallow all the suffering, it'll be in no time sooner that you'll have to let it go....Now that's even more of a waste of energy, excitement and bling bling....

So, my 2 cents worth is telling you to either remain with what you are riding, work on it and beautify it to your liking (which if you do it right, won't harm you piggy...), or consider maybe a used class 2A or if you really want to go to the max of the classes, used class 2 bike and do the same, beautify it to your liking....

Hope this helps, but if not, i thank you for allowing me to share the 2 cents that i have...Cheers bro and ride safe....

i m riding a '04 sportster 1200XL and my bike can easily hit 150km/hr at 4500rpm so to say that it will hit the upper limit is an exaggeration. I have tried riding up till 170km/hr n the meter still haven't touch the red portion of the rpm, the reason i haven't go faster is bcos my bike jus isn't aerodynamic enuff n it started to rock rather unstable on the NSHW.

Also my bike's brake works well as it has twin front brakes n single ear brake but i can't say the same for those bikes wif single rear drum brake. As for cruising, my bike is actually design for a sportier ride but i made some changes (lower rear suspension, add windshield, add saddlebag, add passenger backrest, add sissy bar with rack for mounting bag) and it turn out pretty comfy for long distance cruising (see pic below). But bcos of the original fork rake angle and higher ground clearance, the bike is still nimble n zippy at curves. As for those concern about the bone shattering experience of riding a sportster, this problem is confine to those models before 2004 which does not come wif rubber mount isolation

i too upgrade from a class 2B straight to 2 (after 1 yr break w/o riding) when i graduate from skool n got my 1st job. I m kinda short n i prefer a chopper kind of bike so i got a harley sportster (low seat height n narrow seat profile). Personally i think harley bikes are just overhype due to great branding n this american wild wild west culture. Me i m usually in my surf board shorts n tee when riding my bike. But owning a harley can burnt the pockets as the parts' price r usually jack up high by the dealer n these parts r usually available only from them. On the plus side, maintenance (w/o the parts change) is quite cheap n fuss free. The engine is air cool so no coolant to bother about, the twin spark plug only need change once a yr, air filter probably about twice a yr, belt drive so no lubrication n tightening to worry about (but belt change v ex). Cost mostly comes from the changing of engine oil (about 3 bottle).

i m not trying to be lo sor.. just wanna share my experience wif those lookin to upgrade to class 2.. the most impt is to enjoy ur ride watever bike it is
