On a stock set-up. Depending on the load, fuel octane and riding style. You should get roughly 250 clicks or so.

When the needle hits the tip of the red mark, you've got prolly 20 - 30 clicks left till you push your bike. Cheers!

hi guys, im new here, tinking of getting some tips from u guys regarding my spark, and also any recommendation for servicing?

Dude. Need to be a little more specific. What kind of tips would you like. Every tip costs you one milo dinosaur!! Haha.

Basic servicing you can go to any shop.

~ Change your engine oil every 1500km - 2000km. Or once a month.

~ Change your oil filter every 3500km - 4000km. Or every second alternate oil change.

~ Change your spark plug every 5500km - 6000km. Or every third alternate oil change.

~ Regularly clean and lube your chain. Once a week is the norm. Lube more frequently during the rainy season.

~ Take note of your chain slack. Tighten every 500km or so.

~ Maintain proper tire pressure. Most running at 33psi rear 31psi front.

~ Have a good feel of your brakes. When it gets spongy, you prolly need a new brake-pad.

~ Regularly check clutch-cable freeplay. Tighten as required. When too loose, time to visit your mech.

~ TOP UP FUEL WHEN LOW. :)

Other spankers might have different servicing schedules. To each his own.

Btw, we're spankers and we ride a spank.

You now owe me 9 x Milo Dinosaurs!!! Cheers!!! :p

Hi bro tanx for the info.. i jusr got my bike abt 2 weeks ago n i noticed that my fc is nt that gd.. set up is stock frm factory as it is 1st hand n i cld only get roughly 120-130 clicks before the needle hits the tip of the red mark... is it normal for a brand new bike? riding wise well running in the engine but max i go is ard 85-90 kmh.. cld it be due to new engine as it gets hot faster n burns more fuel in the process?? please enlighten.. tanx in advance...

This is going to be a very long reply. Haha.

Answer is, nope. As it is a new bike, every component of the engine is still rough.

There is a great amout of friction caused as your piston strokes the engine block.

Generally, you need more fuel to aid the combustion process. The fuel is the engine's only source of energy.

Compare for example, pushing a load over a marbled surface and pushing the same load over tarmac. Which wears you out faster? Which requires you more effort and energy? The exact same principle.

The excessive heat generated is basically caused by the friction. And ouh, the heat is not the cause of poor FC. If it was, parking my bike under the sun, for a whole day, would cost me half a tank. Hahaha.

Engine oil during the run in process plays a huge role. Use mineral based oils as it helps to smooth the walls of your block and piston. The minerals act like a sandpaper.

As your run-in process progresses, you will notice your FC slowly drop. After clocking 1000km or so, you should be able to get 200km on a full tank.

For now, being able to get close to 130km before the red mark, is norm.

I might be wrong in some aspects of my explanation. Gurus and others, please correct my mistakes.

Anyway, I hope this helps. Cheers!

PS. You owe me a whole tin of milo!!!

Did you not notice the *wink* at the end? He was referring to something else of yours which he prefers to name it as 'your GPR'.

It will depend on your riding style. There is still petrol left when the needle reaches the E mark. I have travelled quite a distance till it goes past the E.

It's normal, FC depends on riding style also. So if you want better mileage try this. At stops when moving off, open your throttle slowly. Avoid too much engine braking, and don't speed. If you can do all that, then your mileage will be superb... Cheers....
