What's the difference with the brake pump?

 

Dear Mr Charlxx,

 

In short,

Changing the master brake pump to a bigger sized piston will enhance the braking ability. (explain slightly more below)

Changing the brake hose to steel braided is to minimize expansion of hoses when under pressure.

 

When you press brake lever, it actually actuates a single stroke and pumps oil into your brake hose and the oil subsequently travels to the piston of your brake caliper. A bigger sized master pump will pump more oil in a single stroke than a small sized piston. (You may relate to the syringe in the clinic; ie. A bigger syringe vs a smaller syringe)

 

Although a master pump might be small to the eye, there is actually alot of engineering that goes into building a good master pump. You might get 2 same sized master pump but they perform differently. Material, angle of curve and smoothness of material will all contribute to amount of drag on the brake fluid.

 

 

Do note that you are mostly likely required to trim your head farring when you change to a bigger master pump.

Got alot of pump u can use. U want i can sell u mine. I not using. CBR6/ZX6 master cylinder with titax lever. Cheap .

The covers can be bought at Vicom itself for a few dollars only.

 

Called them and they told me they don't have stock :cry:

Shall go down to Vicom during the weekends to find...

They do not really sell the covers only. If you are lucky can get. If they do not like your face they will tell you must get a whole new IU. :cool:

I wrap my seat at Block 47 Bendemeer Road. Seems like family business and people are nice.

 

 

Pricing range would be S$35 to S$60 depending on material and design. If you are on a budget, head over across the causeway as it's the same price but in ringgit.
