Chills bros. For pipes the primary officers are LTA. TP stopped for moving offences but they can stopped for LTA offences like

Lightings and pipes. Tp/lta can escort riders to the LTA centre for further checking of pipes or any other things installed in their bike if they suspected it is illegal.

Just to make things clear for everyone here. The LTA guidelines are simple.

 

When you purchase a brand new or 2nd hand legal pipe, you are supposed to bring your ride to the inspection centre as soon as possible for a pipe inspection which will cost you about $78. They will check the pipe if it meets the decibel & emission guidelines and also if the pipe had been tampered with. The moment you pass, they will issue you with a certificate. It is best to keep the certificate with you at all times to avoid any problems or delays with the enforcement officers in the future.

 

Someone who thinks he is smart said this,

 

"If its not time for inspection, why the hell would anybody wants to send the bike and pipe for inspection?! When the time comes and that rd tax renewal den go for inspection lah.."

 

THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG. BIKE ANNUAL INSPECTION & PIPE INSPECTION IS TOTALLY TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

Im not totally clueless. Just that your statement on no proper docus can lead to fine.. :) LTA requirements on? I can show u my cert and I can assure u its not my name and I still pass the LTA inspection.

If the pipe is already on the bike when you bought, there is no need to do a separate inspection.

How u know without the proper documents can fine and bring back base? How you know its $500 fine? Are you a ROV/TP/LTA occifer? FYI, I was stopped by TP and I had noghing on me. Told the officer my IC no. and they had everything on checked and im clear to go! He said "lucky nowdays any info can be retrieved on database" maybe some ppl should be updated to technology.. This is singapore, not malaysia. :D

For illegal mod of bike they have the right escort the rider back. You say the pipe not under your name? Pipe will tag with the bike number and the owner. Sometimes officers do mistake maybe he fails to check the name i guess. If they escort the rider back, is their call whether to summon or issued a letter to come back again.

Protocol is protocol but ultimately it is up to the officer to decide whether to issue a fine, escort back to base or just give a verbal warning and many of us know this. Just like how about 10 of us regulars from here were stopped at lim chu kang by a couple of TP's and LTA's, he could have brought us all back to base as many were on illegal mods but they didnt.
