Hi Kymco riders,

I cannot find a suitable thread to post my questions, so I'll post them here. I have an old Kymco grand dink 150 which I am not familiar with.

1. My headlight is blown. Can I go to any shop and ask them to change it, or must I go to a scooter shop? I noticed the headlight bulb cannot be removed easily due to all the fairings. How much will it cost?

2. How do I know whether the belt is worn or going to snap? Any shops to recommend if I want to change it?

Many, many thanks for any replies!

For headlight, u can change it any way, most shop knows how to do it. The fairing is actually quite easy to detach. For the belt portion, u need to have it check periodically by the workshop at 7k, 9k to make sure that the belt has no visible crack in the belt.

Hope the above info helps. Was once a granddink rider too.

Anytime, stRobe.

Just finished my virgin tank of fuel... few observations :

Good FC of 384km travelled with 11.78 litres of fuel. SO comes to around 32.5km per litre of fuel burnt.

Design flaw. The last bar of fuel, the fuel indicator will be flashing. Very irritating to ride with something flashing on the dashboard. I noticed there is already another low fuel light on the speedometer. Thought that shd trigger the flashing fuel indicator instead.

Rick_vam, confirm your Exciting is the same?

Wah the FC is good.

So, will run-in be in time for Koh Samui?

As for the flashing thing, place a nice sticker over it or if got enough space, maybe even a voltmeter (if downtown don't come with it).

2018

Yo SW9000,

Downtown no voltmeter, now only covered 384km... I think if I can make it, will only go to Hatyai. Ko Samui too much for my aging back.

If free, joint us for the Endau Rompin trip on 20 Mar Sunday, for warming up to Hatyai.

Trunk road won't go faster than 120km/h. hahaha. just kidding.

For xciting, its different, the fuel gauge is analog (traditional type). The fuel light only lights up when it has only around 1.5l of fuel left.

From Herbert the manager at Motor Sports, Downtown is a true 300cc engine while eciting is a rev up from 250(I think your exciting is 270cc?), thus more power for Downtown.

Downtown also sports a nicer exhaust but the exiting looks sportier with double front disc brakes
