My R model stock jet is 108 leh. Are you sure your stock jet is 105? "Bassy growl" is a good description. Very addictive sound. When you start the bike around people, you can't help but feel good when people start looking around for a class 2 bike. Who'd think that sound comes from a shorty GPR pipe on a 400? :thumb:

105 is pretty small if you do have a free flowing exhaust, surprised that it has enough fuel. Just changed mine from 105 to 112's after my problems last track day. Pulls much nicer now and has a much crisper exhaust note where it was quite flat sounding before. Might have some fun riding to work with the baffle removed this week.

I am out for the 27th, forgot completely that's my g/f's birthday so no way I can go to the track on that day!

Still find that the temperature of my bike gets quite high though, even just riding along ecp for 30 minutes or so the other day temperature gauge getting up to just a bit below the red line, might spend some time this week pulling the thermostat out and make sure that it is opening and closing properly as the bike is running great other wise, doesn't maybe the gauge is just out of calibration as well, a digital gauge would be nice to see EXACTLY what temp you were running at.

I thought so too, until I read the tuning guide and specs that came with the Factory Pro tuning kit. Unless the previous owner changed to 108. Anyway that's not a big factor because as long as the bike delivers power linearly low down and pulls hard at the top, it's fine.

rhema83: i dunno if it's the insulation of the GPR endcan tt gets slowly seasoned (cooked/chao tar/burnt), coz my endcan had a modest sound until i rode with it for some time...then the nice, neighbour-irritating noise came... sorry if i was in any way involved in affecting ur decision to get the gpr...u may b feeling a little disappointed?

Why would I be disappointed? I am very pleasantly surprised by the bassy sound and the nice short oval shape. So far I am very happy with my purchase and I actually already chose GPR before you posted your reply. It just confirmed my choice.

Wait till I test the bike at 2nd Link or PG. Confirm "burn in" the exhaust, or maybe clear up the carbon because of the rich mixture / dead plug / baffle on the first day.

I must say, Clifford did a very good job tuning it. He test rode my bike three times and took the carbs apart three times. Very dedicated! But I am still surprised at the fact that I downsized the main jet. Something to do with the combination of K&N filter, NC23 header, short velocity stacks and removed baffle. I thought with the increased flow, I should upsize the main jet. But it ran too rich. I guess I will go back for him to check on it after I go to PG and rev the heck out of the bike on Tues.

Time to flush your coolant and check your thermostat!

Hi guys, noticed that some of the rear brake disc of my frens cbr and mine already "eaten" its thinner. anyone encounter the same problem and have any solutions to this apart from getting a new 1 which cost ard $160. i know have to service the brake caliper and skim the disc brake to a acceptable thickness? anyone?

wow...rhema83..yr modification or rather maintenance seems hardcore..haha :cheer:

just an enquiry here...any difference between tuning and jetting? After i changed my end can to micron..i did not do any further adjustment to any stuff..maybe u can guide me on wat to do? So far i only change to k&n air filter..

Even though i change e needles in e carb and tune by clifford...my idling sound still dun seems to be constant..is it got to do with plug cable? haha

regarding NC23 header..

althought its diameter is slightly bigger..wat affects the mechanical movement of yr bike is actually the combustion rate..bigger or smaller header only affects the rate of combustion output..

if yr diameter is smaller, pressure lesser, velocity increase and so if u put yr hand far behind yr exhaust, still can feel the same amount of combusted air...

if yr diameter is bigger, pressure accumulate, velocity decrease and so if u put yr hand far behind yr exhaust,u cant really feel it cos the velocity decrease..

Ultimately..even if u tune to a riched mixture, the combustion rate increase...bigger or smaller diameter of header only affect is yr conbusted air dispense further or closer to exhaust..

i dunno if u guys get wat am i trying to say..but its my concept and pls correct me if i am wrong..

Riding cbr too!! but cannot edit picture under my control...dunno why

if u guys keep feeling yr temperature is getting higher...i would recommend you guys to install a k&n breather...

Hi Guys!

I'm riding a CBR 400 N model. I would like to ask u guys whether if my 2 front brake caliper is spoilt, so if i do a hard braking on my front brakes for a very long time, my front brakes will jam eventually due to it is very hot. I wnet to check and it seems that inside my brake calipers, there is a thing called the pistons which is jammed due to the heat. I wanted to change my brake calipers as it is dangerous, So is there any other brake calipers (like maybe S4 brake calipers), or must i find back CBR brake calipers to match my existing 1....???

Pls enlighten me...!!!~~~~ Thanks...!!!~~~:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I think you can service the brake pistons. Mine was semi-jammed when I just bought my blade.

The screeching sound is present on my blade too when the brakes are cold. Probably need abit of warming up.

i think u hav yr theory mix up..

look at water hose..

when the diameter of the hose is smaller, u get higher pressure, higher velocity..

bigger diameter will give less pressure, less velocity..

richer mixture will give higher combustion but there is a limit to it..

cos the oxygen in the air that is being sucked in is limited.

u will hav unburn petrol or incomplete combustion..

I did exactly that. The brakes felt so much better afterwards. For the sake of safety, nobody should save on brake servicing.

actually is not very ex..

if the brake piston is "eaten" away by a bit..

u change the O rings oso no use..

in short time, the brake will jam again..

i think it cost abt 60 bucks for one calipers to change piston, oil seal and brake pump kit(internal spring).. i changed before 3 years ago.. kinda forget the price le..

is it normal for my brakes to have a screeching sound whenever i brake?

Browse through some of the threads... and there's people saying its common for SBS brake pad to have that sound. But i'm using EBC Kevlar. Or should it be time for me to service my brakes as well?

u hav to see the brake piston..

for the front caliper, there is 2 piston for each caliper..

u see the wear and tear of the brake pad.. or the height of the each piston exposed..

if one of piston is jam, the height is diff, brake pad uneven wear, one end thin, one end thick..

if both piston jam, wheel diff to rotate freely..

the sound may oso cause by spoilt wheel bearing..

not juz brake system or the brake pad..
