If you are bringing your babyblade onto track and are using Dunlop GPR70SP, be careful. The tyres don't give much warning before they lose grip due to heat cycling. Although the threads look okay, the tyre compound itself is no longer grippy. :giddy:

Everyone ride safe!

Is the Dunlops so bad ?

I have seen someone doing some good 10 sessions on them. And he's running pretty decent laptimes.

You are wrong. Just replace the trumpet, any bike shop should be able to order the part for you and it costs about $10-$20 from memory. Make sure all your other ones are secured properly as they should NOT come loose on their own.

Get a set of supercorsa's they are fantastic. Much more grip than the GPR70SPs and very predictable and smooth when they do slide rather than just letting go. Absolutely brilliant tyres.

Any damage from your lowside? Hope there was nothing major. Did it go on the left or right side? Would be a shame damage that brand new pipe already!

change to FCR n u dun need to use airbox at all

Standard carbs can also do this but for riding on the road its not really recommended due to the amount of crap that will get into your engine.

The tyres were fantastic when new. But after 9 sessions I guess it was over. That person doing 10 sessions on one set of tyres really should be careful and change tyres more often. It's for his own safety.

(Mind if I ask what was his laptime? I realized that to reduce my laptime by 5 seconds, I had to ride a lot harder and put much more stress on my tyres. That's why I never noticed the tyre fatigue until I pushed it.)

Exactly what I'm thinking! I am going to get a set of Supercorsa the next time. :thumb: 5thrider also recommended Supercorsa. It is the nearest thing I can get to DOT race tyres. (Or are they DOT race tyres?)

Yeah, lots of cosmetic damage, but nothing serious. More damage to my wallet, in fact. Haha! I hope I can fix the dented pipe. Everything else should be easy to fix.

Do you have any lead to Supercorsas in SG with 120F 150R?

Last time I went to the distributor in Paya Lebar they said no size. Salesman seem to think only big bikes use these tyres...

GPR70SPs 150R are now extinct (or at least that's what I'm told), 160Rs are in abundance but not to my liking.

I heard the next best thing is Pilot?

I don't have a local supplier for them no but if people want them I can probably get some sent over from Aus, just that they will be more expensive than if you get them locally.

They definately come in a 150 rear as I have used them before on my CBR400 back home in that size. The alternative too look for would be Metzeller Rennsports as these are the exact same rubber and construction as the Supercorsa just a slightly different tread pattern. (pirelli and metzeller are same company now).

Go for a soft front and medium rear if you can find them, they are great tyres.

Yeh they are considered DOT race tyres as they are DOT approved and they are race rubber. They actually use very similar rubber and construction to the Pirelli slicks and ARE slicks on the edges with tread only in the middle of the tyre.

Slicks would be considered non-DOT race tyres. If I do get a dedicated track bike over here I will be bringing some Bridgestone race slicks over from Australia to use on the bike.

Is my 50+bhp bike going to be able to warm up the tyres properly without the aid of tyre warmers? Plus, it is well-known that DOT race tyres suck in the wet. That means I cannot ride my bike around town anymore. :sian:

The Metz option is only restricted to 120 Racetec front and 150 Rennsport rear again due to size as well as stock limitations in SG....

The Michelins I was referring to were the Pilot Power Race. There are huge differences between Pilot Power and Pilot Power Race, as are the differences between Diablo Corsa and Diablo Corsa Pro.

Differences are performance of course, and prices...

I've never really tried soft tyres at PG and Sepang...Quite sceptical about them at PG coz its really bumpy. Maybe Sepang would be better suited....Or am I wrong?

Soft tyres would still be very good at PG. The surface is not that bad really. Pilot Power Race should be quite good tyres, can you get them in a 150 rear though? Weird that the rennsport would not be available in a 120 front as that is the standard size that ALL modern sportbikes use? a 120/70 front works fine with these tyres, so no need to restrict yourself to tyres that come in 120/60 size.

Rhema83 - You will have no problem at all warming them up. I have run them before my CBR400 back home and they heat up nice and quick even in winter temps. Over here with our warm climate you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Give it 1 lap at 80% to warm them right up and then go for it. That is what I generally do on any tyre though to be sure.

They are also fine in the wet but with the supercorsa's in particular there is no tread on the sides, the side of the tyres is like a slick tyre so you DO need to be careful to keep the bike nice and upright and not hammer it in the rain around town. In damp track conditions this is not a problem as the tyres still warm up nicely even on a damp/drying track. I have used these tyres on road rides and been caught in the rain on them before without incident.

It's always a trade off though when you ride on road and on track. For me if I was going to the track every couple of weeks I would go for Supercorsa/rennsport to have best possible grip on the track and then just take it easy riding around town. If I was only going to the track once every 2 months or so and riding around town a LOT in between then I would go for a tyre that is more road biased like the BT014 that I have on at the moment. Very good around town and in the wet but still nice and grippy at the track as well.

Trouble is stock actually, from what I know; no stock for 120f for Rennsports and 150r for Racetecs that's why the riders around me mix n match.

250-400cc bikes are much more appreciated on the track in OZ compared to Singapore so thats probably why we have this stock problem here. Singaporeans are much more interested in big bikes...

I think KL has much better stock than we do...but prices may be a turnoff...

From what I know, there are 120f and 150R Pilot Power Race in SG...
