I'm talking about comparing a stock R and a stock L.

tats what SGGH was asking.

with mod of course can go slightly higher.

like tat no need to compare between R and L already. Just get a bike.

not say inaccurate.... its like for their dispacement is correct not to b compared with the 400s...

OIC....

Just telling you... During my trips to north i rode beside 900cc machines on par arnd 160km/h... they were riding arnd tat speed...

But when my full throttle .... they were arnd 190km/h... but i was more than 200/h (i was still riding beside em)

So its not really very accurate with big bikes clock our 400cc bike's speed....

For your info

CBR400 speedo top is arnd 190/h.... I have ever used didital speedo attached on my bike to clock the top speed... was more than 200km/h...

I did Dyno test to confirm to its accuracy .... Was quite accurate.. jus 2km/h different on the dyno.....

tronicans... used wad speedo??

is it the koso brand??

im tinking of gettin one...since u said ur digital accuracy missed by 2km/h

tts gud... issit d koso one??

or wad brand is d meter?

aniwae guys... i fixed my sliders.... :)

929 ones can fit... juz nid to find a longer bolt...

Advice me once again.

CBR400 now is all at least 10years old. Even FP is coming to 10.

SO! is it advicable for me to go for it?

RRR got restriction and i heard that compare to RRL it will lose quite a lot. Not worth it. Which model will u all recommend?

For 21yrs old, how much roughly is the insurance?

Hoping to get the right info so that when i purchase i won't regret. =)

Lose quite a lot? Where did you hear that from? The R model has the more advanced cartridge fork which makes suspension tuning much smoother. The restriction is in the header, which can be resolved by swapping in a NC23 part and then modding the end flange. A good endcan, jet kit and K&N air filter will add a little more power and give faster response.

I personally ride a R model, mostly on track. The performance of the bike is very satisfactory. You just need to get suspension springs that are suitable for your weight, and get good tyres. (Since GPR70SP is discontinued, I say go for BT090. If you are a hardcore track rider like me, get Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro.)

Actually bike speedo's are inaccurate on both newer and older bikes. The higher the speed the less accurate they are as well.

So when you have another bike riding beside you, you are comparing their inaccurate speedo reading with your inaccurate speedo reading so its kinda pointless. Bike speedo's at higher speeds will generally read higher than the actual speed.

There are some good digital bicycle speedo's you can attach which will give you a much more accurante reading. Again a Dyno run should give you an accurate reading as well, as would fitting a GPS device to the bike.

Remember that any change to stock gearing will throw the speedo out even more.

u got any link for Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro 120F 150R? How much do you get them for?

Btw, IMHO, BT090 cannot make it on PG.

Omg... dun start with the bicycle speedo reading...

Trust me it won't be accurate.

For better result, try blasting at local speed trap, set up by tp.

Result guarantee.

the bicycle meter is gd. tried 420km/h also no problem. just need some big balls and cable tie will do the trick. for ur second option, is a very accurate idea too. with the date, location, photo, speed confirm by tp. no argument can be done. but only can try once and career ended.

in sg, sound fast look fast is enough. run fast fine fast die fast.

So, hot topic is top speed of CBR and speedos. Why does anyone need top speed on normal road?

IMHO if a fast bike is needed then get the CBR1100XX.

Actually some bike speedo's are extremely accurate and rated up to 300km/h by the manufacturers. Cheap nasty ones obviously are a waste of time.

As you what the speedo reads when you run out of puff is really a non-issue.

Try some BT014 tyres if you want, they are available in sizes to suit CBR400 locally. I would recommend them over 090's, better grip, quicker warm up. Wear out faster but if its for track use then you are not looking for tyres that last thousands of klms, you are looking for best grip.

I've gone up n down Sepang a few times on the NC29, bike won't have problem if maintained properly. Cruised at 140kmh-160kmh once hit highway...Good speed to travel at on the bike...You get to see some nice sceneries along the way...That is what I call a good ride on normal roads....

The only problem that arised came from me - fatigue!

Is it because of the riding posture but imagine yourself on a G4? haha, i tink its much worse.

Btw guys, all the mod you all tried like Yoshi, Micro and 2bro. Wat's the price range like for the header, end can and full system and of which is illegal?

If u wan accurate speed ask the big guys... those haya...

actually about the speedo thingy..

had a few talks with them...

The problem is tat the ideal place to place for it to be read..

Trust me .. at such speed, calculation and reading will becomes and error.

bicycle meter can't actually work well .

and still ...

how fast u wanna go??

If ur bike is a FBB plate, fresh from factory, doing it most of the time red line is alright.

but if urs is grandpa stage, trust me .. play it safe..

The next sentence i'm going to say, is quoted by a famous bikeshop.

" Try challenging ur grandpa doing a 100m dash. You'll be lucky if ur grandpa can make it to the finishing line. "

Sitting position preference differs with riders. No point saying which one is better. I personally prefer NC29 to G4 overall, so no; I wasn't thinking of riding on it.

It's just plain fatigue from riding far. Riding 300km away is no joke. There are people who will say it's no problem, but I doubt if they will ever say they are not tired.

Sitting position does help with lessening backaches tho. There is no beating the comfort of sitting in an upright position while riding. Or sitting in a plane for 30mins. to get there

So the guys with the bigger bikes know more about technical stuff?

G4 has a more racing posture ... might be due to the foot rest as it is higher and making u to lean infront more..

long distance will sure get very tired when riding a G4.

cbr400 is more relax.

Slowpoke34, i'm not saying bigger bike, they know more technical stuff..

is just tat previously i've a small discussion with them about speed thingy.

exactly abt speed and bicycle meter.

And bicycle meter, was not the expected answer.

cheers.

you're right about G4, it has higher footrests. the bike also has a longer tank making you stretch a little for the handle bar. some people like this.

the g4 also has very strong front brakes, the tokico. in my first lap at Sepang on board the bike i endo the bike a little coz i just grabbed it at the last minute trying to charge it like a CBR. i sure turned pale...pros and cons huh...need to adjust to these stuff...gearbox wise it is also good for track purpose as the pick up is very good. it has a very efficient coolant system and never overheats as far as i know. i did quite a few laps in Sepang with the G4 and the temperature needle was at half at max.

but unfortunately till now i do not know how to make the bike corner like the nc29. and for this i prefer the nc29. on the track you'd need to work the bike more, but the nc29 sure takes a huge amount of beating thru the corners and stays the line unless the rider makes ridiculously stupid mistakes or the tyre goes off.

you are also right about the nc29 handling; it's more relaxed. so off track it's a good touring bike as well, for people who like doing so on sportsbikes.

i have seen others ride the g4 to good effects thoon the track and love that sitting posture for normal riding. i guess in the end it's rider's preference. i am used to the nc29, and they the g4.

also, dun worry about the speedo and bigger bikes thingy that i spotted earlier. i was just teasing you lah  the nc29 i ride dun use a speedo anyway...dun really see the need to.

:sorry: for blabbering too much....take it as a bedtime story...

Nah its alright...

who goes into corner seeing what speed their at...

Is all about the feel. when u really the among of speed u keep pressing into the corner, u'll be frighten abt it..

hmmz .. Slowpoke34 ya must be good in track.. can exchange tips with ya somedays.

I think due to the set up of the g4.. as legs are high up causing u to lean infront more. den plus u jam brake. throwing ur body infront, bet u must be doing a late braking to improve on ur timing. nice style.

Its an Art for doing late braking.

slight mistake and ya gone.

Ya cbr is great for tracks and touring..

The "LCG" gives u the potential to go really low and stable.

Slowpoke34, are u riding the yellow cbr in the pic ??
