Thanks myusha. Can I ask what is the most commonly done on first servicing after buying a bike? And when?

Cos when I buy the bike last week, engine oil, spark plugs, oil filter, coolant, brake fluid and brake pads done.

hi CBRians!

i've a problem here. i guess u guys know that the metal strip inside the hi/lo beam switch becomes too hot and melts if we don't use the stock 35/35w bulbs. what i feel is that the 35/35w bulbs are too dim but whenever i use 55/60w bulbs, the switch gives problems.

anyone out here knows how or where to solve this problem? i know adding a relay will help. but i dunno how to diy or which bikeshop to go and do up the relay. help me pls! :weep:

oh... this is a very common problem...

you have 2 choice:

1)install additional switch for your high beam.

2)disconnect your high beam wire. that means you will only have passing high beam, and the switch to make the high beam on will no longer be in use.

you can go bikeworkz and look for ah beng. think around $10+..

How many litres are there for a full tank? I know the measurements by specs is 15 litres, but if I were to pump fuel until the condition where it nearly overflow, is it still 15 litres?

Most important thing to do before anything else when buying one of these bikes is valve clearance check and adjustment. This is something that will ensure that your bike is in good mechanical order, if the previous owner has neglected this task then you run a high risk of the valve clearances being way out which can lead to dropped valves, blown heads, hard starting, poor power and all manner of other symptoms.

Do this first up at a garage as it should be done by people who know what they are doing. If it hasn't been done get your carbs cleaned and balanced and a new inline fuel filter at the same time as the tank will be off anyway so it saves you some labour time.
