What is recommended engine treatment do u prefer. Seen OWS heavily promoted these days. Have anyone try it?? What is the review??

some say X1R good and i try motor-up before. No need to put treatment every oil change, maybe once a year will do when got extra money. most important is to use good engine oil and change it at 5k or 3 months or whichever is early.

Its better to change oil frequently in my humble opinion. Its the best treatment you can give your engine.

Additives - utter waste of money.

 

No substance in the world can save 10% of fuel magically, or make engines run a zillion miles without oil.

 

Wait... your right hand can save 10%? 20%? 40%? of fuel if you rode more efficiently and custom tuned your ride to your needs. Therefore, use your hands. The simplest solution gifted by nature

 

A lot of these engine treatments boast about "friction reducing". Fact is, you stay away from fiction reducers at all cost when it comes to our predominantly wet clutch bike designs. Or else, clutch slippage and hey presto, you have cut off 20% from your top speed.

 

Then what happens is that the little race bike gets beaten by stock Phantom in a uphill highway battle using $10 motor oil, don't even mention the crazy stock Y125Z.

 

Of course EO additives make the engine seem smoother... friction reducers + wet clutch = clutch slippage = reduced torque. Got it?

Agreed, I read product description of "Liqui Moly" engine treatment it don't work on wet clutch setup (which is applicable for more than 80~90% of motorcycle) like Kaylan mentioned additives like "friction reducer" is something which we don't wanna have in our wet clutch system.

Yesterday I check on OWS engine treatment, they don't have such description on their product. If you insist of using it, perhaps check with manufacturer first before pouring it into your engine.

Lol i used once before when i just ORDed and was really bored at home.

No wonder my bike can get 36-45km/l while other Phantoms can do 30-38... sometimes falling as low as 24.

Agreed. Knowing that cute things are on/inside your bike, you tend to ride smoothly and less aggressively because you just dont wanna injure them or even hurting their cute feelings.

 

Sometimes when i do a low and fast corner, i can hear screaming in my tank. and you DON'T want to hear penguins scream. Trust me.

All you people who have been using fuel additives: read your owner's handbooks. Most manufacturers strongly advise against using any fuel or oil additives. Some of these additives can do nasty things to your engines with long-term use. Just use quality gasoline of the recommended octane rating. That is what the engineers who designed your cars meant for you to do, and that is how your car will perform at its best.

From what I know flushing oils are meant to well, flush out the old oil in your engine.

 

Drain old EO, add flushing oil, idle for a few minutes (DO NOT RIDE), drain flushing oil and add new oil. Good when you hate the old oil and want all of it out, and love the new oil so much you want it 100% pure new oil for your

 

Not recommended for old bikes as some of the crap inside it actually helps prevent leaking gaskets and such.

Engines are meant to be run. We do them no good puttering around town at 3000rpm all day.

 

That's what backroads are for. Clear some carbon, get that oil flowing and the power valves liftin'... the best engine treatment on the planet

Which is why I'm stuck at Cl2B for 7 years. I never had enough points to be able to go for TP test. Keep getting pulled for speeding.

 

Anyway, I think regular maintenance is more important than what we put in occasionally for cleaning. If you have potato chips and beer for breakfast, lunch and dinner while watching TV, the occasional apple and 2km run isn't going to save your health.

 

Whenever my girlfriend and I are free, we strip our bikes for basic maintenance and tuning - clean valves, carbs, plugs, oil, chain, and rejet the carbs to experiment with different jetting. My girlfriend is more proficient at cleaning valve and can sometimes finish ahead of me... :S
