[Trip Report] My first trip up north...Issan, Thailand

First of all like to thank yahoo_rider in the SBF for his advice.

 

it was suppose to bring steedy(steed 400) for some plastic surgery and to prepare for my year end trip in. But in the end only manage to get steedy's wheel done up as the rest of the things are not ready yet. they will sent it to singapore by post later.

 

it was my first ride up to LOS but it was also the ride of my life.

 

Went off on the below route:

 

Day1:

 

singapore> malaysia> Sadao> hatyai> phatthalung> surat thani

 

Day2:

 

surat> chumphon> Prachuap khiri khan> hua hin> phetchaburi> ratchaburi> suphan buri> lopburi

 

day3, day4 rest in lopburi

 

day 5:

 

lopburi> saraburi> korat> buriram> surin> sangkha> surin> buriram> korat> saraburi> lopburi

 

day 6:

 

lopburi> saraburi> pathum thani> nonthaburi> samut sakhon> samut songkhram> phetchburi> hua hin> prachaup khiri khan> chumphon> surat

 

day 7:

also pls share any problem ur bike encountered during the journey? thanks! good work...

 

on the way upi found that steedy is unable to cruise at 120km\h for more than 250km as the temp sensor light will light up so 100km\h for most of the trip.

 

the other problem is the front wheel bearing was damaged when i went into the kampong area. Never go off road with a crusier :sian:

managed to get the bike shop to change the bearing and at 15sgd

 

on the way back at 700km++ away from singapore, steedy had a short-circuit with the start button so had to travel at about 60km\h for the rest of the trip back

Wow,nice bro!!wat's the average speed u riding bro? wat petrol u pump in thai?

 

speed wise need to ah-hoc as its a more than 10years bike plus its only 400cc... well with a great engine

petrol i did pump gasahol? and the normal ones... no problems

sent the bike for servicing as of now

was thinking about the same thing before my trip... but in the end i just do it.

partly after consulting a few guys about the ride up. the confidence they gave me.

Went there on my own... :cheeky:

there was no towing involved in the whole trip. Bike shops are easily found in thailand... every town or province there are plenty of them.

If you still can remember me, I am Jimmy. I set off on the Sat morning (0800 hrs)to Hatyai. Reached there safely at 2000 hrs. Took us 12 back breaking hours! Was setting off back to Singapore on Wed morning (0800hrs). Reached Singapore around 1730hrs. Whacked all the way!!! Too tired to think well! Hahaha....

 

Anyway, nice to meet you, Kit! Hopefully we can ride up together on the next trip!

nay... need a bike that can cruise @ 140-160km\h, will not overheat at cruising speed for 1000km++ in a day, able to go abit of off road, low maintaince and can fit panniers.
