I think the price of 32k still can accept, but u compare 848 & 1098 there only few k diff,so for your opinion what bike will u get than,i bet that u will top up few k & get the 1098 right if the diff is not much,so in order to market the 848,the price must attrach buyers to consider what bike they r going to get.848 or 1098,if the price is right for the 848 i most properly will get the 848 cause mary will update me the price when she back. There only 2 choice for me 848 or 1098.Hope i will get it right for my final purchase.

My advise to U is, buy the model which suit u the most!

I dun see the reason why i need a bigger CC bike than my 749 cos i haven fully utilised it yet! 1098 is too powerful for normal riders like us....

Hey Ming, long time no see....

In no ways of disrespect, I used to think like you. But after surfing in overseas forum, I realize something. It's quite a weird thinking, but somehow logical. See what you think, here goes:

You said 749 not fully utilized, is because you know you could not use it to the fullest on the track. On a road, what is a 749 to you? You display capabilities to operate the 749 better than any new litre bike riders, that's for sure.

But we know the easiest for a bike to go fast is on the straights, agree? It takes some thigh muscle, strong grip and a little brain to do it. It's easier to play catch up on the straights, then in the turns. In fact it is safer to go fast on the straights, brake earlier and take it easy on the turns, while being able to keep up. It is especially stressful if you go riding with a bunch of litre boys when you could not keep up on the straights nor the turns, and the best is, you do not know the way. I had this experience before, not funny.

The key to the whole crazy theory is that, a reckless rider kills himself on anything. A sensible rider would keep the wraist in tap, observing and accessing the situation before revving the monster. Fun open road riding, 1098 is the better choice as the road is forgiving. Track wise, because we are crazy ppl who loves to play catch up or smell exhausts, we rode the smaller cc Duc

Main thing is, resale value. The bigger Ducs are easier to sell to almost any Singaporean. Plus the servicing cost almost the same (unless some shop wanna really chop you cuz your Duc got more cc, that's bullshit), the tyres are the same too! 190/50-17 is not the right size for the big Ducs anyways. I for one, if not because of Tiuster, probably would end up with a 9 series Duc instead of the 748 Mono. He asked me what's the purpose of my bike, which is why I always ask others what is the reason of the bike.

Bro, 1098....for that couple of thousands more. Seriously if you dun intend to track aggressively or even track at all, the 1098 would be a better overall bike. Take it from the 9 series owners here. Either they are track junkies who are not cruising in the tracks, or they dun track at all. Where as most of the 7 series Duc owners tends to be track junkies.

The extra few thousands would be worth the money be it you keep the bike or sell it away. It's right to say "How fast can one go in SG?" but would you not go 2nd link to open up the power once in awhile? You would love the 1098 if you go 2nd link, and especially when you "very love" your bike, you know you are not pushing the bike all the way. We 7 series Duc riders love to redline the bike, and I could even get the bike into rev limiter in 6th gear at 2nd link.

Get the 1098.

I see how thing goes first........if the 1098 really attrach me more than the 848 i might goes for it.

Hi bro i agree with u too, cause if i really chose to purchase the 1098 over 848 than i might not even fully open up the throttle in sg road unless i ride to kl or even further & somemore i dont ride my bike out of sg unless there a gathering.

tt said, u really hav to ask urself if u gonna seriously use it on the track. not forgetting Ducs are V-twins, higher torque compared to inline 4. so if u r using

1098 in corners at PG, especially turn 3. u realy hav to b throttle sensitive, otherwise u can end up flying in the air with a major high-side. whereas the 7 or 8 series. u prob b throttle happy n jus concentrate on honing ur riding skills. but then again if u r a gd rider with lots of experience, taming the 1098 is not gonna b a big prob. still its true bout the easier resale of 1098. but if u ask me, IMO i will still get the 7 or 8 series, love the feeling of screaming into the corners. end of the day, ask urself wat u wan. think of it tis way. buying a Duc is already a personnal commitent into burning ur pocket. so if u hav already decided to part with alot more $ compared to jap bikes. wats losing a little more when its time to sell ur 7/8 series duc compared to 1098.

Correct.....again, I keep saying IF it is to be used on track, the consideration of the power delivery is important. Come on, you are my shifu, I know what I'm trying to say. I guess I did not stress that properly, now that I read it again. After that phrase "On a road, what is a 749 to you?", I meant to actually relate riding the 1098 or 848 on the road instead of tracks.

Tiuster, I'm not joking with you it's not an easy sale when it comes to the 748/749 compared to the 916/996/998/999. This is not USA, where we had been before. The riders are more real....they really track or trail their sportbikes/dirtbikes. But in SG, the thought of "more is better" is still the mainstream mindset. We own Ducs before, and we know how great the bike is, because we track the fcuking bike. Even Joe said the 748 was great...in the tracks, not around Newton Circus.

To be stuck with an Italian Marque and cash strapped, is quite a nightmare. That is the main reason if the Duc is not bought to be track, better resale should be important.

Resale is not important to us when the fairing gets all "sandblasted" in the tracks, right?

So you doing anymore trackdays?

Just a quick qns, putting my toes up on the pegs instead of above the gear shifter or brake pedal seems to give me a lower lean angle. Or, curling in my feet, sole of shoe in flat against engine side (use in pocket bikes). Any comment s or anyone tried this, or use this method?

Road. My heart skips a beat sometimes when my shoes slide the road or my pegs hit the ground, i tried this method after watching some racing vids, seems like alot of riders use this when going down into corners. Toes up on the restings pegs, gives quite a bit of clearance. I tried it and hell does it work

Yo bro, still on your Monster?

I found that the brake and gear levers ground out before the exhausts (Termis). With stock ones, the chamfered exhausts touch down first, not a good feeling. I position my foot such that the toe sliders touch down first, so I get an indication I'm near max lean.

I'm riding a 999, not selling mine but, someone just recently came up to me and said,'' Hey i saw the same bike like urs at a bike shop at Ubi, is it urs?''

i Said, No. Then he said, "oh then i think that bike is still for sale, its has been there for a while already"

i cant remember the bike shop. But when i know, i'll let u know.

I leave the ball of my foot(near my toes) on the foot pegs, becuz it help me to put more pressure on my foot pegs to assist me in cornering. Be it whether road or track. But then again, everyrider will have different stlye and according to their own comfort.

Yes still on the monster, 1 month more befoer the new baby comes in. I've shaved some parts of the pegs on the outer side already, thats about the limit i feel (w termis too). A lil more it gets a bit uncomfortable. Toes up on the foot pegs makes it alot more comforting when going down so i dont feel so much of the shoe against the road. Thanks for comments!

That definitely works, the pressure applied by the feet gives more stability and confidence when manoeuvering through the corner. Appreciate your comments :)
