Hi guys! Can i ask a few questions b4 i decided to sell off my car and get a 1098/1198. I heard tat the old 916/996/998 encounter alot of electrical problems when they r often ridden on the road. Are the new 1098/1198 model made to be ridden everyday? As in a transport bike tat bring me to and fro from work.

 

Will appreciate ur comments.

 

From my experience, you normally run into electrical gremlins if you don't ride them regularly. Otherwise, if well maintained and ridden regularly, you should hardly have any big issues.

 

As to whether the 1098/1198 is a daily commuting bike? I would say no. These bikes are meant to be ridden hard. So if you're into riding the twisties across the causeway or frequent the track,they are a great option. But if you're looking at a practical duke for commuting, why not consider the Monster range, the Streetfighter or the new Diavel?

Think that depends on your perspective. If I could only have one bike and needed to ride it to work but also blast corners on weekends I'd go for the one that gave me the most thrill on the weekend but was still ok to ride to work. Even better if the ride to work has corners. They don't call them superbikes for nothing. I'd just ask myself what would give me the biggest smile everytime I walked up to it.

Anybody tried installing baffle to your termis and go for inspection? Will they pass your bike? Going for 1st inspection this month.

Which model is yours? If its hym, you are safe. If its the other models, depends on luck. Some ppl got through without problems, some got to change back to stock.

It was a small cosy meetup at Changi Village, got to see Ohayo's sparkling new Hypermotard (have a safe ride to Malacca tomorrow!), nice to meet Alkapot's Gixer1000 friend, the usual easterners Jan & Alkapot, and all the way from Sembawang came iamdaman! Not forgetting Fesa who sneaked out to join us...

 

Thanks guys for the great company! I always enjoy the Fri nite cosy gatherings!
