Hi everyone I am new to this forum. Am currently halfway through my class 2B licence in SSDC and am slowly getting ready to buy a bike. I'm new to this whole bike scene but have singled out the CBR as my bike of choice. I have a few questions that I hope you guys can help me answer. Thanks in advance!

1) I have noticed that with regards to the CBR, there is a 125R and a 150R. The 125 is apparently from boon siew. Are the differences only in engine capacity and thus power?

2) Other than boon siew that I found online, where else can I buy the bike?

3) How much would it roughly cost brand new? I am considering a second hand as well as it would be my first bike.

4) Other than regular oil change and servicing, the bike is more or less easily to maintain right?

5) What is the average expenditure based on the inclusion of i)road tax ii)insurance iii)parking($17 right?) iv)petrol iiv)servicing

6) Read somewhere that the bike is using carburettor technology, some say they have introduced fuel injection recently. Which is the case?

Thank you for helping me with this and bearing with my noobness =)

1) Realistically, 25cc doesn't make an appreciable difference in HP or torque.

2) You can also get the CBR125 from Mah Motors. It is more expensive but they offer decent freebies while Boon Siew will give you things like a $30 helmet. However, Boon Siew gives 15 months warranty instead of the 12 months from Mah if it makes a difference. The CBR 150 can be found almost anywhere. It is very common.

3) If you're looking for a new CBR 125, it will cost you about 8-9k OTR from Boon Siew, depending on your insurance type, age and riding exp. Machine price from Boon Siew is 5.9k. I'm not sure about the CBR 150 but I did do some enquiries in the past because I was making a similar consideration. I only asked AS Phoon and they quoted me 5.5k OTR. Probably machine price would be slightly under 4k. If you're looking for 2nd hand I'm selling my 08 cbr 125.

4) INCLUDING the regular oil change and servicing, the bike is easy to maintain. :) Typical servicing at the agent costs you $42 including the price of the EO. I'm sure it's cheaper elsewhere since I pay only slightly more for my 2A bike and that uses 3 bottles of EO instead of 1 and I don't go to the agent for that.

5) Road tax is fixed at $32 for 6 months, insurance is variable. Petrol about $10 a week for almost daily usage(FC 36-42/L).

6) The CBR 125 is running on Fuel Injection, whereas the CBR 150 runs on a carb. Fuel injection is definitely better for starting a cold bike, trust me.

I'm riding a CBR150. When I bought it 2 years ago, 19 yrs old, P-plate, it cost me $6.6k OTR. Well, I don't know about fuel injection, but I have to on my choke whenever I on my bike now. It's either I on choke or I keep revving the bike, or the bike will die.
