The P/J denotes

1) P - it meets ECE specs for full-face helmets (with chinbar)

2) J - it meets ECE specs for open-face helmets (w/o chinbar)

So, it's tested as both open and full-face. :thumb:

And it is on the heavy side.... but only if you think of it as an open face helmet. For a full-face helmet (which it has been tested as) it's reasonably light.

finally! webbikeworld did a review for it.. thanks for the explaination of the label coolieND.. much appreciated.

no actually i think of it as a full face helmet when i was 'hand' weighing it.. i do think its quite heavy.. anyway still considering whether to buy this helmet or not.. and reviews are good..

looks like the inner linings are not removable? major - point..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Hi All,

If you're interested, I have a relatively new lava grey Nolan N43 Air for sale. I'm selling it as no matter how hard I try to convince myself, the helmet shell's a tad small for me.

Details are as follows

- Size S (55-56 cm) (would fit a size M though. My head size is somewhere in between)

- Worn less than 10 times

- Mint condition except a 3cm scratch on the front of the visor (corresponds to the area between your nose and lip when worn)

- All accessories included (+peak, peak fastener, helmet bag)

- Selling at $220 (fixed)

I have to say that other than the sizing issue, this is the coolest helmet I've owned. The ventilation airwells work great, and the shades are just wonderful. Do contact me for viewing arrangements.

Regards,

Edwin

Great looking helmet, but unfortunately, not the best fitting and the built-in visor lacks design considerations.

Went to the shop with cash in hand, ready to buy 2 helmets for myself and girlfriend, but staff told me trying not allowed until I've paid.

After flashing the money and assuring them I'd like to purchase the helmets, I was allowed to try for size.

Slipping them on, initial impression was that they're really light and comfortable. The built-in sun visor is a little too short (meaning they end too high), and they stop just below my eyebags level. Peering through the sun visor, the forward view is nicely shaded and dark, but the bottom half of my vision is bright and distracting.

The other issue is that the helmet is too short at the back, leaving a huge section of the lower half of the cranium exposed. I know someone whose helmet came loose during an accident and struck the edge of the curb with the base of his skull (and died), so I thought I'd try to wear it with the lower half covering more of the back of my head.

This resulted in the helmet front being too high up, and now the built-in sun visor doesn't provide proper coverage. Now they end just at my lower eyelids, and is very distracting to be riding on the road with upper half of your vision dark, lower half bright.

I thought this was a sizing problem and tried a larger size, but they were all too huge for us.

In the end, I left without buying. :weep:

Am still looking for a similar helmet to my girlfriend and me. I have a couple of Arai and Dainese full-face helmets bought from overseas and they all fit perfectly, so I don't think its an issue with our head size, or shape.

Any suggestions for similar open-face helmets (with detachable chin guard and built-in sun visor)?

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

bad luck boozeye.

why didn't you try on the helmet at the shop?

I did, but I only looked at myself from the front perspective.

If you study this helmet closely, you'll notice that the chin guard is not flat-bottomed in the sense that the front of the chin guard's the lowest point of the helmet. Hence, the lower sides of my chin are exposed mildly to the elements when I wear the helmet.

My conclusion is that this helmet model doesn't really suit my head size.

and of course, I should have looked more closely when trying it on o_O

Also, I must comment on the 'you can try only if you want to buy' policy. I encountered the same when buying this helmet at the Desker Road branch and thought it was bullshit (especially when a Caucasian couple was trying on all the helmets they fancied off the shelf without any interference from the staff). However, I kept it all in as I really liked the helmet.

Went to the Desker Road Chong Aik.

I was surprised but flashed my money anyway.

My gf and I drove in a car so I don't think they discriminate based on whether we can afford it.

They simply DISCRIMINATE RACIALLY. Typical of most Singaporeans, who still are schooled in the colonial culture of kow-towing to Caucasians.

Nighthawk? Woot! Old classic hokay! If you can afford the upkeep of a Nighthawk, why not a nice helmet? :p

Anyway, I do buy quite a bit of merchandise from Chong Aik so I'd still go back. I'll just have to treat certain staff the way I treat general Stinkaporeans.

I just got one today, wine-red colour, helmet's liner feels smooth and have nice padded feel. Overall vision is good with chin bar attached. Highly customisable, mix and match with/without chin bar, peak, face shield and having the sun visor up/down. Only down is I find the peak too tiny to make a statement!

Helmet is unnerving creaky and flexible, but at least it allows me to wear/remove more easily. Comes with a few accessories, a peak, covers for the chin bar's holes when not in use, covers for the face shield attachment points when removed. A small tool which I don't know what it's for.. haha.

I think it is dirt cheap, my Shoei JF3 open face cost $510 already.
