I know. I've no doubt that the SW he recommended is a good scoot.

Just that I'm looking for something older and lower cost to run around and thrash. :D

The official fuel consumption figures for BMW F800S/ST are 22.7 km/l at constant 120 km/h over 100km and a remarkable 29 km/l at a constant 90 km/h over 100km. Mixed riding would probably deliver numbers above 20 km/l and I did read someone on this forum with about 25 km/l. Such are the benefits of a parallel twin with 86 Nm, so the bike can make haste at fairly low rpm.

With a machine price of $28500, one would think owners would not be too worried about saving money on fuel. Perhaps the main benefit is in not stopping as often when touring.

Theres an X9 250 for sale, can check it out.

But if you need to cruise at expressway speeds, then a 400cc scoot will be more comfortable. For me, I turn into ah-pek mode once on the expressway, cruising at 70-80 on lane 3. Helps preserve my licence too!
