carb not tune properly is refering to the screw driver thingy?

ya i divided with the distance travelled with the amount topped up.

Not only that screw. There are other components that affect, usually jets inside. Either urs is too big (richer thus higher FC) or inside all dirty (affects the combustion = higher FC as well). I hv opened up mine before n despite using only local petrol, some dirt n grime still accumulates after just 3mths.

U can try la but from wat i knw, that screw only affects idling mixture. At other revs/throttle position is done by the other parts inside the carb. Nt easy to teach u online, but i jux did it myself after some research online to slightly anticipate wat i will be seeing inside. Most importantly u nd to knw wat hoses connect to whr. Best is take photo after every step jux in case u forgot hw to assemble back.

will draining the carb bowl help projectyc in this case if he was running over rich?

i just managed to solve my low power / lean surging problem by opening screw B to drain the carb and i emptied out some rust.. now the bike run as before!

actually can we make some basic carb maintenance/troubleshooting info a stickie or something? it took me some weeks searching up and down in the forum and google just to find my answer.. im sure new beginner riders also confused about which screw to adjust when hitting carb issues etc..

If u guys are willing to come over to my place in cck, i can organise a session to teach u all hw to open up n clean the carb. Its not that difficult actually. Just need screwdriver and brake cleaner.

good idea!

Oh ya, my bike died on me yesterday. I guess it probably caused by the ponding which I rode thru yesterday during lunchtime. After riding through the water, i noitced the sound of the engine becomes different but the bike was still running and rode safety back to office. Then in the evening when I was riding back home, halfway through my journey, the engine just died at the traffic junction. Luckily i was quite near a petrol kiosk and managed to push my bike there. I called and consulted a mechnanic which then advised me to wipe the spark plug. Tried but then still the engine wont start. FInally got to ask for towing to workshop.

What could be the possible cause of the engine's failure?

Sunday daytime is okay for me. If all cfm, i can post the meetup location here.

@ming76 did u dry the spark plug cap? Thats the usual culprit. The actual spark plug itself wont get wet one.

@naim a fellow rider assisted me which i think he removed the rubber cap for the spark plug.

The last time i did was ard $200+ for timing chain n tensioner. But it didnt break. If it did break, more than jux ur timing chain. Most of the tym ur valves n pistons can get damaged as well. I tink u better check agn. Might jux be chopping u.

Hello brothers,

Just bought my phantom a month ago. Firat time tried gg over 100km/hr. After that i started hearing a very weird clicking sound like metal hitting against metal. Like how a loose bolt will sound under vibration. Is it cos the piston is spoilt or is it some loose bolt? Its definitely coming from around the engine area. Very new to riding. Pls do advice thank you.

I got it wrongly, the chain came off, not broken. No damage to valve and piston. They said must do a overhaul of the engine, and plus changing other parts like front brake reservior, rear brake pump assist and some minor works. Total damge came up to $840 :(

Dats still expensive man. Top overhaul should cost u max $400 only. nt sure wat other misc parts u change though. Brake parts not that ex as well. Jux that i feel their explanation very vague. Chain come off why must overhaul? If no damage to valve n piston, overhaul wat? At most i can think of is camshaft, which shouldnt be more than 200?
