if ur bike is a simple one like cub, it would be satisfying and definitely worthwhile.

a question for other diy-ers, any way we could make some money out of use eo? other than that, where do you dispose of the eo?

can reuse the used eo to lube the chain..

i dispose at the bikeshop..

:)

can i ask a noob question? engine oil is a must? then whats the difference between 2T and EO! and where to top up their levels?

2T is only applicable for 2stroke bikes.

topup point is usually located under the rider/pillion seats.

e.g. of such bikes are NSR150Sp, KRR ZX150, RXZ

2T will be consumed overtime.

EO is applicable for all motorbikes.

topup point is usually at the right hand side of the metal engine casing.

just curious, do u actually own a bike already?

if yes, do see if it is time to go for an overdued oil change.

if no, then this is gd info before u own a bike.

all bike run on engine oil.vespa i think gear oil.

EO is also common said as 4T at motorshop.

the grade of the oils are different.

purpose also different.

to be exact, most 2 stroke bike use gear oil cos the way the engine works..

gear oil is thicker and onli needed to use to lub the gears part..

therefore 2t is needed to lub the block and the piston ring..

sp150, nsrr150, KRR150 etc use gear oil.

Yep. By virtue of design.

For two stroke bikes, we need 2 kinds of oils:

2T (or 2 stroke oil) is thinner and designed to lubricate the hot running parts of the engine i.e. piston, and then burn away along with the exhaust after combustion.

Gear oil, well...it's self-explanatory. Lubricates the gears and moving parts in the gearbox. This is reused with every revolution of the gears in it and like your 4-stroke biker brothers, you have to change it too as recommended by the bike manuals or when you feel it's the earliest time to change it.

Makes no sense using gear oil that burns away right? :)

hey guys, anyone diy ta200 spark plug or engine oil? i need someone to teach me =) :cheeky:

i diy spark plug. engine oil will be diying 2-3 weeks from now. can check out your manual or go pk thread to download. btw. give your drain plug a hard knock before opening and use a 8 sides close end wrench to open it to avoid rounding the bolt.

what's the best engine oil for Spark135..?

Curently using MAXIMA EXTRA 15-50 I guess.. it's my 1st time using it,& found out that's it's kinda make my bike heavy.. But for wat i know.. it is best for engine as it is thicker, more protection for the engine.. Further more,im riding a Spark135,no need to speed.. Must sayang the engine...

im still gonna observe the condition...:)

hey guys can i ask u sth? my owners manual states that i should use 10w30. but i had some free servicing package from my mech and he uses OWS 600 which is 15w50..

i read the previous page and the explanation was that it does not really harm the engine by using a thicker oil viscosity.. but i am wondering is it better to follow the owners manual recommended oil?

the manual also states 2000km per oil change.. can i change it less frequently with a thicker oil? or is this irrelevant when it comes to servicing

p.s. my bike is a very high revving bike. gear changes more often than not above 8k rpm

Debateable. Without any good solid answers unless you have the time and money for lab test.

Im using putoline those $8 per bottle kind. Its the last time im using that. Pick up is crap and gear shifting is hell. it sucks.. it sucks... riding ta200

will be better to follow the manual cos of the build of the engine..

some section of the bike may need low viscosity in order for the eo to flow in for lub purposes..

thicker oil dun mean last longer..

if u compare a thicker oil in mineral base and a thicker oil in syn base, syn base properties will last longer..

I feel my bike engine smoother on monday morning after resting it over the week end and the engine become noisy towards weekend.

Is it due to engine oil problem, bike problem or just purely my sense of feeling. BTW it is a NH/CB 250.

Guys! Let's say i put an engine oil SAE of 15W-50 into my engine but my manual doesnt specify that SAE rating. Will anything bad happen to my engine?

Just so you know, my YBR drain bolt size is 17mm from one parallel side to the other. I sort of figured it out that the thread size is M12 and yes, i've used a plastic ruler to measure and double confirm. :)
