i heard that install digital Speedo is illegal and will be summon by TP gau gau if caught. true??? anyone can confirm? lol

If ...

- It's calibrated and accurate

- The digital meter has all the functions of the stock meter

(e.g. speedo, fuel gauge, high-beam and turn indicators)

- You don't have to press any buttons while riding to read the meter

It's OK :)

I personally know of 2 friends who were caught by TP for modified exhaust pipe, racing footrest etc. and were "tarik base" for general inspection. The digital meter (Koso RX1N) passed.

In fact I went for my inspection and the record showed a speedo error of only 2 km/h. The most important thing to do is to pump the tyres (esp front) regularly, as a soft front tyre will affect the readings off the speed sensor.

Yup, I got mine for that price. :thumb:

Self-installation, so dun have to pay for any workmanship charges ...

Why do you trust hearsay ?

Why would TP bother you what speedo you have as long as you comply with the prevailing road speed limit.

I ripped off my speedo from my bike, and install a bicycle speedo. When I go inspection, sometimes they will ask for my mileage, so I tell them speedo spoilt, write anything you want. No problem with inspection.

i also wanna install on my bike x1r. any place in spore got do/sell?

very easy. DIY

Got money buy Sigma Speedo, poor cheap bloke like me, get Cateye Velo8 ($35 but max speed display is 115kph only), I use only half of that

Extend cable, paste magnet, secure meter. Take GPS go for a ride to calibrate meter. No GPS, just measured rolling circumference of wheel, but that not accurate because I want to be able to travel at exactly the road speed limit

Yo bro that post was 7 mths ago...

Anyway I installed Trailtech Vapor on my bike. Replaced the Original Meter. Except the meter does not have indicators so I have to DIY LED inidcators.

Due to procrastination and laziness... project 75% done, ran out of steam :cheeky:

Left over job

- need to replace all the LED (Use cheap LED, now all blow liao)

- need to cut the Radiator pipe and install the Coolant temp sensor

- cover the opening for my original meter

Installing Trailtech Vapor on SV650S incomplete half bucket job

hmmm seems like quite a few calibration work buyer has to carry out. why you guys prefer a digital one than OEM meter? Any special features?

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

For my case. speedo sensor busted... new one cost cost $150. And this sensor (the magnet inside the front wheel hubs) is easily damaged when Mechs remove the front rim.

So a new Trailtech is only $180 with all the necessary info (expect indicator lights) and it looked more hightech... It is always like that. If you have a Digital meter, you would want a Analogue, if you have a Analogue meter, you would prefer a Digital one... It all about customisation... Making your bike look unique. Some people say Digital speedo is very accurate.

For me, my bike already very unique, you don't see a SV650S everyday don't mention about one with Digital meter. Maybe soon an LED Headlight mod... :offtopic:

after accident, what i got is this..

so i planned to diy, since this digital speedo is quite cheap rather than replacing my whole speedo to a stock one.

after fixing..

hi i tried the cateye b4. but the vibration on the road makes it difficult for the hall sensor to sense the magnet.

anyway to solve this problem? im assuming the vibration for bicycle the vibration is less due to slower speeds?

No more regrets.

what i did was to put some cloth + grip cloth to absorb the vibration. my cable tie i wrapped it in a small tube to add the points of absorbing of vibration. haha.

so far no problem. been using it to close to a year..

I have installed Cateye before too. For night light, I install a small LED bulb link to keyswitch. LED only light up only when bike is turned on.

as for speed sensing, I have no issue at all... I didn't anything special to prevent vibration... Just mount the magnet and the sensor as close as possible. For my case, I didn't use the orignal magnet. I used the magnet found in Computer Hard Drives. Very thin, very strong. I broke a small portion paste it onto my brake disk using Locktight super glue (must clean the surface of the disk properly).

Until today it is still there and my Trail tech speedo meter is using it :cheer:
