Hi,

Anybody have tried to load their bikes on to the train(KTMB) and hopping onto the very same train for a ride to your destination, offloading in say Gua Musang..

I can't find any info on that anywhere in the KTMB website, and the contact number never seems to work.

I am thinking of making a trip to North-East Malaysia, But I only have weekends to spare. So plan is to upz the 6pm easten express train in Tanjong Pagar and unload somewhere Gua Musang early the next morning.

Anybody done something like that before? Possible? Cost?

Cheers

Jimmy

opps. Hee. But with a 2B bike, might as well go there rent rite? Not gonna enjoy as much. I took a train from Hatyai to Bangkok last dec cos we didn't wanna ride all the way there. We were enroute to Cambodia/Laos and wanted to rent. Took more than 12 hours man and the ticket for the bike was same price as first class on the train. Not counting all the "porter fees" we had to pay. But it was still fun la.

Faster and cheaper to just ride up bro. 12 hours at cruising speed can reach Hatyai liao.

I wished I could, I need to reach Tenah Merah in the morning to form up with the main group and I don’t wish to ride the east coast roads thru the night.

So the only way is to push bike up the cargo and bunk myself into the sleepers, wake up fresh the next day to enjoy the ride.

Don’t worry, I’ll enjoy my ride down…

You can enquire at KTM Tg Pagar directly. They do load up bikes but the train schedule is more important to you.

From other people's experience more than 15 years back, they won't encourage you to load bikes up with the rest of the cargos. You are taking your own risks should the bike get scratched or toppled in the train.

But from Tanah Merah in Kelantan, where are you heading to... when you meet up with the main group?

Because it won't be a lot of fun if the rest are riding Class 2 bikes.

Hi guys, I have checked with the KTMB guys in Tanjong Pagar.

Basically, you would be able to load up a Class 2 onto the train for SGD 190++ in Tanjong Pagar.

If you load up in JB it's RM 190 ++. Don't ask me why.:sian: Likewise for all train ticket

Catch no.1 is you need to commit a sum of $$ to the Royal Malaysia Customs, if the bike don't come back within a month, the $$ goes into their pocket...

Just to prevent you from selling your bikes into malaysia...

Catch no. 2 The bike don't travel in the same train as you. It will travel with the cargo train a few days before you do, so most likely, it might end up in Ali Baba's cave.

Perhaps things will be better if Temasek buys over KTMB :cheeky:

Like that you must fly magic carpet there already. Don't forget the password otherwise it'll get stuck in Ali Baba's cave. Hee.

Easier to ride there eh? What you riding btw? Drag someone else to follow you la so you don't have to ride alone.

Bro, Thanks for the info, as you see in the previous post, It could be done but not practical at all. So prob give it a miss.

But imagine, just imagine,

Ride over to Tanjong Pagar after work on friday, load up and depart on 6pm train, sleep till 8am reach Pasir Mas, wake up fresh, ride around the entire north east malaysia road for a day or two, no TP no road blocks no jams not much cars and great scenary good roads... Hop & load onto the the night train back to SGP be back on monday before lunch, fresh.

You catch my drift?

The reason I didn’t want to is because I would have to ride up the east coast at night.

2 years ago I drove up the Kuala Besut at night, no cars no street light, pretty enjoyable drive, somewhere in endau-romping, I spotted 4 rings floating on the road ahead, I thought kenna huntu, so I high beam, guess what, 2 bloody cows were crossing the road in the middle of the night… Thank god for Mazda’s brakes, I managed to stop inches away from the cow. Imagine if I was on a bike. So that’s why…

Talking about magic carpet, few days ago, I was walking past a building and I saw an arab man flapping his carpet on the balcony of the 3rd floor trying to get rid of the dust, I shouted to him, what upz Abdul, your magic carpet won’t start? Just kidding..

U drove up to Kuala Besut at night? How many cars?

I actually drove up to Kuala Besut every June for the past 6 years because it's a family getaway, going to a nearby island. But I wouldn't drive up in the night because I'm the only man in my car, and the road leading to KB can be quite risky as there are stretches where there's no village or small towns.

A few years back, a Sporean driving a Lexus was going thru Segamat on the way to Kuantan when he nearly got robbed. He managed to outrun the Proton but the robber did fire a few missed shots.

this is singapore, did u get the wrong country???

my best bet is to google the local train company in prague or budapest, and enquire thru email....

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.
