I've just read thru something that the Red Cross Blood Bank Singapore sent me.

 

There is a World Blood Donor Day Party to thank blood donors on 14 June 2005.

 

Date: 14 June 04 (Tue)

Time: 1800 hrs onwards

Place: Esplanade Park (Opposite Padang)

 

There is a Picnic Dinner, some programmes and a Movie Screening.

 

Folks who receive the letters and the card is to bring along the card where you can redeem a picnic dinner pack that can feed 2 adults and 2 children.

 

Please call them by 01 June to confirm attendance so they can arrange catering.

 

Well.....that means I have extra food. Anyone else want to go with me?

i think all blood donors got that mailer, i dun mind they'll mind an entourage f biker-blood donors going down...

It will be great if having a group of biker going sown together to donate blood.

Due to that is a weekday then i have to see i work what shift first.

hey guys i have donated ard 4 times b4, but recently i was rejected when i went back cos the doc say i got too low blood pressure... piangz, feel super useless when i cant even donate blood.

 

I have family history of low blood pressure, but anyone to advise what to do bout it?

My fren had this bad experience. I was beside him that day. An old nurse, who seemed to be very experienced said his veins were small n deep beneath the skin. So she said she had to increase the pressure n wait for 5 mins for the veins to surface.

 

prior to this.. he was bio-ing other girls who were opposite him donating blood too.

 

den suddenly this pretty young nurse came to him "hi how r u?" den started feeling his hands. "hmm.. see, can u feel ur own veins?im helping u to.." den she started applying local on him n the needle went in. blood started to flow out, however i noticed tat the blood is not flowing smoothly, it was somehow stopping, flowing stopping flowing.

 

i told my fren den i called the nurse. another nurse(not knowing his situation at all) came along n said with a smile, "dun worry, this happens all the time. i just push the needle deeper will do."

 

pharking hell, suddenly my fren shouted damn freaking loudly "ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

 

the needle poked his bone.

 

the blood stopped flowing completely. pls see attachment for clearer explanation.

den the old nurse came back. and asked who was the one who gave the call. the young nurse cameby n said it was her. old nurse den said "how could u? i was in charge of him. his is a special case. his veins r small!" the other nurse who poked the needle deeper just kept quiet. the young nurse dint know wat happened actually.

 

so this old nurse started to turn the needle 360 degress after pulling the needle out a little. DEN THE whole pharking hand started to turn red, den blue den one whole pharking patch of blue black. "i tink i should stop the donation now.."

 

finally the needle was out, the nitemare has ended. my fren has stopped donating blood since.

 

 

moral of this story: to encourage ppl to donate blood, make sure u have the right ppl with the right procedure to do it.

BUT I still continue to donate blood. just went outrum yest. the nurses there r pro n efficient.

 

so if u wan to have a good time donating blood, go there

Is good to donate blood. For me will always go outram lor there will be better and got movie to watch.

Next if you want to go for donation do drink more water and do some exersie first before you go and that will help.

but i have a deep fear of needles!

 

if there is any other way to extract my blood for them...i will gladly donate blood..

 

i rather get punched or cut by a penknife than to get poked by a needle..

 

dont ask me why...everyone has their fears...

fear of pain perhaps? if tats the case, den i would tell u its not painful at all..

but its true that ppl grow fatter after donating blood. i dun know y this would happen.

 

 

but for me, i dun eat their iron tablets. in fact i dun take from them.
