My friend said its not worthwhile eating at Kuishinbo. Well, he have been working at suntec for 5yrs liao. Tried it once and not really that fantastic he says. But then, I must tried it once myself.

Saw this Makan King program yesterday. I might venture down to this Jap Resturant at Joo Chiat. I left the address at home. From the program, its says its serve good tempura and many others good sashimi at a affordable price. Yum Yum...

hahas i would prefer us creating outings

i love gd food!

kushinbo is qte famous among the masses for its jap buffet

Like I said, I would certainly try the Jap Buffet.

Last Sunday, when to Sembawang Shopping Centre (SSC). I was wondering, any good food in Sembawang Shopping Centre? I have been to a few resturants opps of SSC.

The turtle soup (Definitely must try!!!) was cheaper then Geylang

The Kopitam opps SSC was famous for its Assortment Vege/dish rice store. Great tasting dish like steam fish, steam egg and Ku Lo Yo. Cheap too!

The Seafood resturant facing the mainly road beside the Kopitiam. Cost wise, abit steep but worthwhile for the good food its serve. Its have the famous Crab Bee Boon (like fish Bee Hoon Soup but cook with entire crab), Steam Shark Head (Pre-order need) and butter prawn was fresh. You get to chose and weigh your own live crab. They have a few kind of crabs depending availbility. If you go on weekend late, not much choice is left

Sorry for the side recommendation

 Now for the main highlight. Thai Resturant at SSC, newly opened and previously was just a store downstair of SSC which has good business due to cheap and good food. Now they upgrade to the highest level 4 resturant in SSC. Price is still as cheap like a downstair Chi Char Store (Cook store). Food wise is famous for.... you guess??!! Thai food of fried fish, squid and pepper/chilli crab and Oyster stir-fried beef/deer meat.

The juicy and tenderness of deer meat was so fresh and that was the best I have ever eaten. Deep Fried Squid and fish was fragnance and you must have good teeth to enjoy such food because the more you chew, the better the taste. We didnt order crabs but I think I regret not ordering crab! 90% of tables all order crabs!! Next time must must order crab.

Now the main star of the main highlight! Pineapple Fried Rice!! 1st impression when the rice came, look wise is normal, doesn't look fantastic except for the spinkle of chicken floss on top. The rice don't look nice unlike fried rice. The look of fried rice have to be individual rice grain cover with sauce and oil but this pineapple rice look lousy. The rice stick together and cumb together. Thats what my mum complain...

BUT!!!! the tasting part... the fried rice was extremely fragrance and tasty. Doesn't taste gluey but the rice became individual entities when you put it in your mouth. The taste was good and indescribable. Please go and try for yourself. Its at level 4 SSC. We spend about $70+ in total for a family of 7. Cheap rite?

Advised: Dun go in peak hour like dinner time on sat and sunday. Waiting time can go up to 20-30mins. The foods is pre-ordered and serve very quickly. The whole place is noisy and crowded but all in all, good food worth the wait.

gentoro,

the SSC thai stall is really good n cheap

i been staying in either yishun or semb in e 20yrs of my life

went there regularly when i was young

shall go try again these few days

anyway u nv try the satay club beside the ssc too?

there's alot secret stalls hidden oppsite SSC behind the seafood restuarant too

Why four strokes when all you need is two?

Thats where I mean. Behind the seafood resturant opps SSC. Turtle soup. They recently open a branch at Jalan Besar. Not RECOMMENDED, price is the same, soup and quality different. Place is hot and noisy. The dish is not as nice.

Feel like ruining the name of the resturant. Went to Jalan Besar once at evening sunday 6+pm, tried to order the usual like:-

1) Braised Internal Organs of Turtle (My Fav) but stall dun have

2) Turtle egg also dun have

3) Large turtle soup (soup not as thick and nice and meat is small portion)

4) vegies (dun have)

Wakaoz... What kind of branches is this??!!! Everything dun have!!! I would prefer another stall just beside it. No wonder no one order from that stall.

There is another kopitiam which is pack with people also, main dish is Curry fish head. I had my numerous accounts/visits of Fish Head Curry (Enough for me).

My Sis-in-law won abit of 4D yesterday. Planning to go down to kitchener road for dinner with her family this Friday. Of course, me being the driver also got the treat.

OOhhzz, I still couldnt forget the taste of the White Lor Mee. Yummy. The Name of resturant is call Pu Tian Chinese Resturant. Highly recommended in food magazine.

You know the makan booklet with Sly on the cover and sold in 7/11 for $4.00? I bought that book and keep it in my car.

Back to Pu Tian, certainly I will be the host tomorrow dinner while my sis-in-law paying. Things to order:

1) Deep Fried Yam (Yummy!)

2) Lychee Pork Chop (Sweet!)

3) White Lor Mee (Must Have!)

4) Hong Kong Style Groupa/Soon Hock

5) Butter Prawn

6) Rice in Bamboo

7) Deep Fried Tofu in Thai sauce

8) Seafood soup

Will Definitely cost around $150 - $250 for a family of 8. :cheeky:

Guess u all can try the row of shops at upper thomson road just before u turn left to go to e thomson road flyover linking u to e SLE.

Dont know e spcific road names but there's a lot of car accessories shops there and a HANS too. Plus e rather famous air-con roti prata shop which i cant remb e name.

The shops are just after the NESSEA club, where u turn right after mandai road, towards Nee Soon Camp/macritichie reservoir direction and not towards Yishun/Semb.

Try the ampang yong tau food n e shop (zhu jiang) selling chicken/roasted pork/char siew rice.

You will never forget them!

Hahas pardon me for i m unable to give a good review cos i m a very lazy person. Just go n try it urself!

If u r into chicken/roasted pork/char siew, Chong Pang which is just 10mins ride away has such a shop too which is also highly recommended by e chan U mei shi wang.

Turn into e carpark when u see a 7-11 and u will immediately c e shop.

Hai, still nothing can ever compare to e char siew rice and dumpling noodles in HK.

Hello, guys and gals. How is your weekend? As usual, i spend my weekend hunting for good food.

On sunday early afternoon, I set off at 12+pm to look for this Blk 23 Sin Ming Rd, Bowl Yam Cake... Never try any good yam cake b4 so decide to hunt this down for lunch!

Moving to Sin Ming Ave, Drive... Knn. Can only find blk 22, 25, 26. Where the hell is blk 23? Started this hit and run search without reading the street directory. I thought that I was very familar with Sim Ming cos last time always go to LTA.

Search around until I found Blk 23, 24 together at the far end of Sim Ming Road. I you turn in from the Upper Thomson road, You will reach Blk 23 immediately on the left.

I see many ppl in the ulu old kopitiam. Good signs! Walk and saw this stall, exactly as the channel 8 described, yummy yam cake for only $1.50.

Quickly order 2 yam cakes for me and my friend. AUNTIE! EXTRA CHILLI & Onion HOR! Best Yam Cake. Everything hand make from Yam Cake itself, chilli, gravy and fried onions. Each Scoop of Yam Cake cover with gravy and chilli. The Taste is heavenly, the best I ever taste. Chunks of fried Yam you can chew on and bits generous amount of mushrooms and dried prawns.

Btw, I order two Yam Cake takeaway for my Mum and Dad to try. They finish up both yam cake and also acclaim that it was the best ever.

Of course 1 yam cake for me is not enough, I decide to order another Hokkien prawn Mee from the same kopitiam. It took quite long for the hokkien to be serve, took about 20mins, by the time, i already finish yam cake and drinks.

The Hokkien Mee did surprise me. Thick gravy with 2 big prawns for $3. The Mee got yellow mee, thick Mee hoon and thin Mee Hoon. The thick tasty gravy plus the 3 kind of Mee and Mee Hoon added points for the Hokkien Mee to be not bad at all!!!

I have once tried my personally loved Hokkien Mee. Individual portion cooked twice with fatty pork and thick gravy at Bt Panjang but now the standard drop drastically until no one order Hokkien Mee from that stall again. So SAD!!!

found a steamboat eating house along seng poh lane, opposite the old tiong bahru market..

actually its not steamboat lah...its half normal soup & half ma la soup...

but the good thing is..the ma la soup is not really ma....i dont like the ma feeling anyway..so in that aspect..its good for me..

quite a wide variety of food...including wantons(my favourite), beef, pork, chicken, prawns, all sort of balls, straw mushrooms, cockles, liver, vegetables...

cant remember how much it cost, but it should be around $16 if im not wrong..

anyone tried porridge steamboat yet...??

was walking along liang seah street with my buddy looking for some inspiration bout what to have for dinner when we chanced upon this shop serving porridge steamboat~ pity we gave it a miss (coz 2 persons eat steamboat abit boring) and settled for beef noodles at Madam Saigon instead...

not bad, considering.... now i have an alternative place to get my Pho fix if i wanna avoid the young crowds at Singapore Shopping Centre~~~ coz there's also a nice place with fusion Viet food at reasonable prices....

Seems like so far in Singapore there's no stalls being recommended for selling nice popiahs.

Those with e steam skins.

Though i know of a shop which sell very very very nice popiah skins for home made popiahs.
