hi all.. jus came back frm jb.. apperently skidded n almost buang at someturnin to a caltex station at a downslope..back wheel lock 3 times in 2 hrs..scary traffic. besides that need advise.. 1. if im going arnd cruising speed n let go handle bars, the front part will shake vigarously. is that a problem?

2. rpm meter sumtimes ok sumtimes will jump up n down while rev.. is it cable spoil? meter spoil? or wire loose sumwhere?

3. my front n back tyres both worn out.. a fren suggests battleaxe tyres or evo dragon frm ah boy price $260/$220. any suggestions?

1. handle bar shaking when free hand --> either steering cone bearings or front wheel bearings spoilt liao, get it replaced.

2. Not sure, i also encounter thing when i travelling 140km/h then my rpm will be like somehow jump up and down at 8k rpm range

3. If u got $ get batlax 014 else, dunlop gpr70sp, which is a cheaper alternative is also a good choice. GO hkl @ bt merah better, got free wheel balancing which I dun think LAB got this service.

today just try my g4 against my malaysian friend kawasaki ninja 250 at 2link, too easy to overtake, around 200kmph he was left behind far, he say his ninja clear meter around 210kmph, but still canot catch up my g4.

400cc vs 250cc er..

i guess it's pretty obvious g4 can outrun a 250cc at high range.

probably it's coz of your tyres. it might also be the steering or wheel bearings (like addictive said), but since u need new tyres already, put them on and see how first la. my friend had same problem on his bandit with super-bald tyres, became alright immediately with new ones.

now i remember because the day i never start is a rainy day. quite heavy rain. then the next day i start got problem liao. the idling will like jerk abit then normal. then after awhile jerk again. then i also notice a power lost. isit because the spark plug spoil or the plugs get wet?

What is your idling speed?? Spec is 1200 +/- 100rpm but mine is adjusted to 1000rpm when bike is warm up.

i adjusted to below 1000. i tried to adjust to 1000 but when gear 1 bike will move forward alot. so i drop it more. will that affect?

That explain the fluctuation, bring it up to 1000 rpm after the bike is warm up by riding for 5-10mins.

I am not sure if I understand you correctly, are you refering to the clutch free play when you say the bike moves forward alot??

If you adjust the clutch adjuster (round knob at your left handle)away from the handle bar the biting point will be further (clutch lever release more for bike to start moving)

If you adjust the clutch adjuster toward the handle bar the biting point will be closer (clutch lever release abit and bike will start moving)

The standard clutch free play is 3-4mm, the gap between the clutch lever and the lever holder when you slowly depress the clutch lever lightly and feel the slightest tension then hold it there and check the gap. I trial and error and adjusted mine to 2mm because I find the gear shifting is smoother for me.

its when u clutch in gear 1 then the idling will push the bike forward automatically. like the engine got the power to move off kindof feeling. when neutral then dun have liao. must press on my brakes, if not the bike will move forward even clutch in

GSXR400 models I think still exist in Sg

K model two exhaust pipes (very rare mostly scrap already)

L model(very rare mostly scrap already)

MSP model this one have a remote cannister rear shock (very rare mostly scrap already)

N model (very rare)

P model FK to FL plate (quite common on the road rumoured no power cut)

R model newest of the gsxr400 FM to FN plate

The model before P have 59bhp while the later only 53bhp.

Spares it easily found at KS motorcycles, if not can get from scrap gsxr400. Price range from 1200-2000 (machine price and depends on condition) from private seller, and expect to pay slightly more from shop.

Its either worn clutch plate or the clutch push rod need adjustment. And when is the last time you change your engine oil??

There are a few things which you can try before spending $$

1. Adjust the clutch free play by turning the knob further to tension the clutch cable

2. Adjust the clutch push rod (near the front sprocket cover), loosen the lock nut and turn in the push rod all the way till high resistance is felt then back out 1/4 turn and finally tighten the lock nut.

3. Change engine oil

4. Change clutch friction plate, check metal plate for warp.

Not that I known off, its normally wear and tear parts. You can't expect like brand new from a bike which is 10-12 y/o.

But its common to found oil leaks at the engine oil hose, valve cover gasket. Worn jet needles, soft/worn rear shock, worn steering cone bearing, wheel bearing, linkage bearing if its not replace within the last 10 years.

For CDI its a electronic component, it will fail for newer bike also. The gsxr400 doesn;t heat up as fast as my B4 or Super4. Mine jammed at junction it hardly reach the half mark. You may want to drain off the coolant and flush the radiator and top up new coolant when you get your G4 because its one area which is always neglected.

You mean RN model, its quite rare to find nowasdays, there was one sold in the garage sale a few weeks ago at $2K. For FN plate (1995-1996), it RR model which is the newest of all, price depends on COE renew or not.

Gary: wah, wanna downgrade to KR ah :giddy: Why not try some scooter? Like x9 250? Very relax and silent cum fast...

true.

recently sports bikes are becoming more n more powerful, in terms of horse power n everything.

recent trend also shows tat now bikes are getting the 600cc outlook while its a 1000cc. getting more slimmer.
