Bajaj Pulsar 200

I will have to agree. My YBR 4 years old second hand, mileage super high. So far, nothing serious have spoiled yet. Only thing changed were my clutch plates. Only like 60 bucks so not so much also. Normal wear and tear.

I do have quite a number of friends who SWEAR by the Pulsar when they first got it. Not until it had some problems then they started to ask about my YBR. In the end, one guy actually got a YBR. Haha.

Nothing beats Japanese quality. Even though my bike was made in China, nonetheless, the parts are cheap to replace.

Went to UM the other day for 2 small problems:

1) Head bearing cone very loose

2) Idle timing seems like not stable

Upon approaching there and I was quite late, the technician told me they’re closing and cannot service my bike. I never even got a chance to tell them what’s the problem and immediately got rejected. Then I persist and told him it’s a small problem, just tightening a screw, then he went in and take the tools. After that I continued asking him for my 2nd problem, he didn’t even see and told me need to check, so I need to come another day. After a while, I saw the technician who service my bike the other day, asked him about the 2nd problem, he did some checking and told me it’s choke cable problem.

Now I’m very skeptic about the cable problem, so after I rode off from there, I stipped out the whole cable as I didn’t know where it was connected to. Leaving it dangling, I started my bike, timing was fine, then upon further inspection, found that cable link direct to the carburetor. I fix everything back, problem solved. Then it occurred to me that day I ask them to clean carburetor. Since the choke was linked to the carburetor, there’s a metal piece that goes inside, if not put properly, will slightly pull the cable. That’s what I suspect that they never insert the metal piece properly.

Further recollection of the service at that day, I recalled after the technician fix up my bike, he checked on something and asked around, then tell me my throttling cable faulty, firstly, no free play, and upon throttling, the cable seems jam. But after they changed the cable, I don’t feel there’s any diff from before, but just to entertain him, I told him it’s better. Linking this to the choke incident, the throttle cable change is useless. Due to the slight pull in choke, the cooldown timing of rpm is bound to be sluggish. Thus it all started with the servicing I had. Did I mention that the cone loose was also caused at the service? He told me the cone spoilt, which I agree, but he had no time to change, so loosing it as a temporary solution. However riding at slow speed was no problem, the problem occurs when travelling at hi-speed, then the handle bar starts to wobble, cornering was also very slippery. I had to hold the bike up. I didn’t immediate went back after the servicing cos I changed a lot of things, and wasn’t really get used to it.

Now I’m not blaming anyone for the fault, just that their level of service should be improved. After all they only service pulsar, not like other shop that service a variety of bikes. It should already be their specialty, and knowing things like the back of their hands.

Common problem heard by Pulsar riders everyday....

"Money is the root of all evil" <Be careful if someone ask a loan from u... Be wary if the person promises the sky. Be thankful if u had made the right decision to reject the pathetic person.>

I had wanted to switch my 125Z to a Pulsar for several years now, for better FC and to support something "experimental" and new but held off for various reasons.

Biggest reason being I can't afford to visit my dealer every week for unpredictable mechanical bugs. That aside I admit I love the "insect" look of the Pulsar and of course the extremely long range.

I greatly appreciate this honest discussion and customer review because it set my mind to rest regarding the Pulsar - I love all things Indian but I'll wait for a truly refined Bajaj product for my next new bike.

Hi to ALL

here are my honest review ....

P200 Red 1 year and 8 months old FBC ....S

Truely I have NO COMPLAINT since I bought it.

Since day 1... only 1 incident happened.

MY bike dies off out of sudden after a heavy rain due to some wiring misconnects ... damaged $25 for labour after they stripped to find the source and $25 for towing truck.

Expensive? ... hmmm wait till you have a car than you will understand what is really expensive.

Tear and wear are part and parcel... and LUCK also plays a part in life.

Since.. We humans need to see doctors too for our health check up... your bike too needs to see the 'doctor' to maintain it's condition.

Pray and take care of your bike and your bike will surely serve you well...

this is my share to you...

and here I'm proud to introduce my P200... SplitFire.

im not surprise to hear issues of pulsars in singapore. however, these issues are easily dealt with in other countries, like india, philipines and indonesia.

i ride a pulsar too. from day 1 the gears dont shift as smoothly as say cbr150. it is kinda jerky but the engagement is always good. after awhile i didnt care.at least it doesnt feel vague and u dont know if u've shifter correctly or not. the bike has twin bulbs in front that are always on and its good for safety in the day times. if u forget to on your headlihgts at night(which i sometiems do) its still a lil bit safer than riding without any lights. and you get a nice orange digital speedo which is much much easier to read than analog

Because when the bike hits 120km/h it screams bloody mary. Scary, unstable, and it makes you think like the engine is asking for you to slay it with a sword.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone i know. And yes i'm an ex-pulsar owner.

haha cos i guess your friend misunderstood the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine .... :slapforehead:

if he really one to opt for top speed than like i suggested .. do visit prides online and they will give you tips to enhance or even full bore up his 200cc to 240cc ... that depends if dares too but if not than please understand bro ..

pulsar not meant for top end speed but purely more to good fc. There is no such thing as excellent top speed come with excellent fc.

but if he really insist want to have a reasonable top end without compromising the fc a lot than ask him to join us at SBT here ... we'll glad to assist him to have what pulsar capable of ..we have speed demons too in our team just for your info
