I usually use Belray Superclean on my chain. Like the title states...... SUperclean. No mess, no fling. Every 500 km, lightly spray some. Every 2 months during bike wash, spray a cloth with GT85 and slowly wipe grime off chain. DO NOT USE WD40, its a degreaser, and will eat up ur "o"ring's grease.

how much for a small can?

try this....a low cost solution to your chain maintenance..

as a biker we would like to maintain our bikes as best as we can..

maintaining chains is really hard work..first u need to clean the chain and then lube it...this process takes up to 2 hours or more..and to do it every 500km.. it is a real hassle..

but with the low cost % auto oiler which only cost $40..$45..

it saves money, time and hassle..

check this out..

Hi all riders,

I just got my kawasaki installed with the “EzzyOiler” on saturday with 2 other riders and this post depicts the result.

It is AWESOME. The bike feels smoother now and my days of buying chain lubricant and spraying my bike chain are OVER! Till of course I want to clean my chain.

This clever piece of intellectual property here was literally created by "EzzyOiler" himself and he is a very friendly gentleman and I recommend riders who are perhaps perplexed onto how to:

1. Lubricate your chain

2. What kind of Chain Lub to use?

3. How many km's before lubricating your chain?

4. Or anyone who just want to lubricate your chain in the best possible way.

If you do not understand how this works from "EzzyOiler's" description of his product. Let me break down the gist of it, after speaking to Ezzyoiler himself and looking at the product in action.

*DISCLAIMER*

I am not advertizing for him, this is all but my take on the product.

First, it is important to understand it is a "TOTAL LOSS" system. What this means is that everytime you ride, the oil that lubricates your chain will be SPENT. Meaning, the oil will trickle down the rubber hoses onto the sides of the sprocket. What will happen then is because of how liquid molecules move, the oil will "SPREAD" naturally onto your CHAIN and SPROCKET. WHY? Don't ask me, ask the laws of PHYSICS.

Secondly, you may ask, what kind of OIL should you use? Since this is about cost efficiency, Ezzyoiler recommends UNC 2T oil @ $3 per bottle. So this entirely depends on you. One bottle is 1 Litre.

Thirdly, you may ask, how much oil is needed to lube your chain as your ride? This depends on the displacement i.e. cc. of your bike which means how big your chain is. Basically, the rubber hoses that drips the oil is connected to a little 60ml bottle. What you must do everytime you ride, is to “pump” the amount of oil required for your motorbike chain. HENCE the “TOTAL LOSS” system.

Don’t catch the idea yet? OK very simple.

Every time you ride, say for 10 - 15 mins, all you need to do is PUMP ONCE. Because, all this does is pump the oil from the bottle, which will trickle down the rubber hoses, onto your sprocket. To give a numerical value to this, ONE PUMP gives you 2ml of oil.

2ml of oil is about 15 drops onto your sprocket according to EzzyOiler. This is about 1 DROP OF OIL PER 1.5 MINUTES.

Needless to say, as long as the oil stops trickling at the end of your RIDE, EzzyOiler has done its job by dripping oil onto your bike chain, WHILST RIDING. The result you will see would be a SHINY chain due to the oil. So, lets say you ride for 20 mins, you may need 2 PUMPS for example, and so on and forth.

Therefore, I would like to thank EzzyOiler himself for this brilliant idea, and I would recommend riders who are interested to check out the product!

Ups for EZZYOILER!

is your chains kinked?? want to know more about it??

goto..

here is a image of a kink chain... just look at the link rivets.. draw an imagery line ..joimg the rivets centre one after another.. if it is a straight line or as in a sag positions...this is a okay chain but if the lines goes up and down....then it is a dirty chain.. check out the image...is your chain like that?? it will rob you the horsepower generated by the engine..bad performance will be the results.. the EZZYOILER will take care of this problem thus putting the lost horsepower back to te bike..thus improving the bike performances.. Hi guys. I just got my bike and want to know some things about chain maintenance.

Firstly, why is warming of chain needed before you apply chain lube?

What do you use to wipe of grime and excess chain wax?

Is degreaser recommended when removing lubricants on chains during cleaning?

I'm new to this and has alot to learn. Hope someone can assist me here.

Thank you. :)

u need to warm up your chains so that the chain lube will stick to your chains and not fly off easily.

For cleaning purposes, best to use Kerosene with a small brush. For me, it is easily to use RP7 or WD40 with an old cotton t-shirt. spray a bit it on your chains and sprockets and wipe the dirt off. Dun use degreaser!!!!

Thanks for the info. But i read somewhere that WD40 will 'eat' up your chain. Is there any chain cleaner i can use instead?

yeah..EZYYOILER is a chain cleaner..

the cleaner used is unc lube 2t...which incidentally cost $3/L..

which will last you many months ...

some even years of usage..

So te cost is really very low..now compared to your kerosene , diesel..(.some even use FORBIDDEN wd40 OR deGRGEASER.. THESE ARE TERRIBLE STUFF TO CHAINS..WITH O RINGS) or some commercial cleaner which going to cost u plenty..including the hassles in cleaning chains..

dont beleive?? come and see my chains...close to 2 years did not clean..

nowthe punchline...after spending $$$$$ , time( hours,,) and getting yourself hot in the collar...

you still need to lube the chains..aghhhhhhhh more $$$$, TIME AND HASSLE..

and the cycle repeat itself every 500 km.

huh..what the ezzyoiler ..? the cleaning is done ....so is the lubbing...i will be out riding or having a beer while you slog to clean it manually..

enough said...come and visit me i will give u a demo on the easy way of cleaning and lubbing..

u guess right the ezzyoiler way.

..

(still dont believe...i suggest you check out this term...cognitive dissonance...it may explain why it happen.

have a good read. it made me a new person..with an open mind..

off course this is in my humle opinion..imho..

please do not read if u do not have an open mind...

no offense or pun intended to all who love manual chain cleaning)

some times i wonder...will installing the ezzyoiler do good??

maybe yes...anyway we use less of every thing in chain maintenance..

less...

chains

sprockets

lube

cleaning solvents..and soaps...

less mess all round...

i am glad knowing that i have done a small bit in using less off the eaths resources..

will it save the world...haha..maybe not..but then a thousand miles journey start from a single step..

should i say start from moving a chain link..

today i washed my bike. i used Dove brand grease remover around the wheel, engine and chain area. those $5plus that you can easily found at NTUC. after that wash it down with soap and water.

while returning to the bike 1.5hrs later to lube the chain after it dry, rust spot starter to appear on the chain. i used RP7 on the chain and wipe it off. after that dose the chain with a good amount of PZ1 spary lube. 6hours later i went to check and the chain continue to rust :(

any idea how to stop the rust from taking place? could it be the gease remover? it suppose to be able to use on automobile. there are no rust at all except the chain. maybe the PZ1 spary lube is not protecting the chain? will try to clean up the chain and apply EO. EO suppose to be able to netrual acid and prevent corrosion.

I have a strange practise of never degreasing or cleaning my chains - all the grease on it tends to inhibit rust by itself. My chains last an ungodly amount of time, surprising given my wide open throttle riding style and I don't care about cleaning them.

i don't degrease it too. my chain is very well-maintain and clean. but a fair amount of degreaser will get on the chain while cleaning the surronding area like the chain guard.

guess i should at least oil right after cleaning it rather then waiting. also, a sunny weather might help too.

guess the cheapo PZ1 from LAB is not too much of a help.

this only shows that the chain is very clean and covered with a protective film of lube initially....

when the soap or degreaser that you used to wash your bike...some may have drip on the chain and strip the chain of te protective film of lube...now only very clean chains will start to oxidise almost immediately when you air dry it.

the end result is rust..

so this only shows that the oiler on your bike is doing a fantastic job..

glad to hear your oiler is doing its task of lubing and cleaning your chains wonderfully and keeping the chains in tip top conditions.

haha...you have miss the point....oilers do not cause the chains to rust...it is to provide lubrication to the chain.

so happen the lube is oil based

. thus will protect the chains from rusting..

it is common knowledge that after cleaning the chains...it mush be thoroughly cleaned with water..

not doing that as this case illustrate..the chain will rust horribly..

even the application of a commercial chain lube..rust still persist.

while using the oiler correctly ...the chains will not rust.

as the chains need not be cleaned with soap , solvent or degreaser...the rusting will not happen..

this case it rust because the degreaser drip on to the chains...and not immediately flush away..thus resulting in the chains rusting..PRECAUUTION MUST BE TAKEN WHEN CLEANING BIKE NEAR CHAINS AREA.
