Newcastle are set to start their summer recruitment drive with the signing of Nottingham Forest's James Perch.

Looks like our rightback position is very healthy, with Danny Simpson, Ryan Taylor and James Perch all vying for that position. What about the leftback position? We still need cover. Perch was supposed to be able to play anywhere along the back, but he himself said he favours the rightback position.

Yeah heard that Perch will be playing as a RB. Ryan taylor doesn't feature much last season but i think he's able to play RWB and RM as well. I heard West Ham are interested in Gosling. Hmm. Imo, what we need now is a powerful striker!!

Ryan Taylor, in my opinion, deserves to play more, instead of being used sparingly.

 

I'm confused as to whether or not NUFC actually has money. Signing Perch for an undisclosed sum? Trying to bid 6m for some other chap..

News late tonight that Newcastle United have completed a deal for former Everton player, 20 year-old Dan Gosling, according to the Daily Mirror.

 

Have yet to be confirmed whether it's true or not. Will post again once it's officially deal.

Rumors have it that Everton is appealing against Newcastle's Bosman capture of Dan Gosling and if successful, Newcastle would have to pay them and Plymouth (25% sell-on clause) a total of 4m pounds! Is he really that worth it?

Imo, 4 mil seems abit too much. Could have got better players with that kind of amount. We'll see how it goes.

The bottom line is, Mike Ashley isn't as deft as many makes him out to be. Though they issued statements to say that there would be absolutely no cash coming in for transfers, they have since paid out $1.5 - $2m pounds for Perch.

 

And with the rumoured $4m pound hanging over Gosling's head, this shows that the owner is indeed supporting his manager with transfer funds.

 

Also, what do you guys think about Xisco? I personally think that he ought to be given a second change, even though he had to feign injury to get outta NUFC two seasons ago.

As for Xisco, i agree that he ought to be given a second chance to prove himself. Imo, he is better than Leon Best.

Newcastle striker Andy Carroll says he is proud to have been handed the number nine shirt at St James' Park.

 

Carroll, 21, follows in the footsteps of Tyneside heroes Jackie Milburn, Malcolm MacDonald and Alan Shearer in wearing nine for the Magpies.

 

"I'm immensely proud. It's an unbelievable feeling," Carroll told the club's website.

"Alan Shearer was my idol as a young lad and who would have thought I'd be following in his footsteps?"

NEWCASTLE United have today confirmed the signing of Dan Gosling, with the young midfielder signing a four-year contract at St. James' Park.

 

The 20-year-old becomes the Club's second signing of the summer following the arrival of James Perch from Nottingham Forest, and has been handed the number 15 shirt.

Added to the fact that Steven Taylor, although injured once again, has informed media that he has left it to his agent to battle out contract terms with Newcastle, and is delighted to be with them back in the Premiership.

 

I don't think we need anymore cover at CB position. I think we need a LB, creative CM, cover for LW, RW. Forwards imho, we have loads. Carroll, Lovenkrands, Ranger, Ameobi.

Oh yuh, the forgotten man aka bisexual man. Hope he gives it his all since Hughton is giving him a second chance to prove himself. But, I feel that Spanish players who set sail to Newcastle always need an extended time to prove themselves.
