Hi All,

Been thinking of getting a 200cc dirtbike.

While I like the electric starter of the XR200, I am having trouble looking for one. So if I decided to go for a kick starter, looking at WR200 and KTM200.

Pre owned prices indicates that the KTM is usually about S$1000 more than WR200. Not much of an issue but... does it all really make a difference? Would like to hear from riders before I commit.

Or is it simply just a comparison like conti versus jap in terms of vehicles?

Thanks.

ktm parts and maintainence are not cheap. if using it for daily transport, u will just be wearing down it down faster.

on the other hand, wr 200 parts are not no longer in production. sad. it's a hardy bike though.

It really depends on how you're gonna use the bike. But i'll definately vote for the ktm.

no parts in production for wr200? I used to ride a wr and i do see alot of wr on the ride.

Go to bike shops specialised in repairing and servicing scramblers and u are safe. I used to ride a ktm 2 and a wr200... Power and lightness i would defintely take the ktm200.

anyway scramblers are not cheap and not fuel efficient if u gonna use it for daily transport. Not worth it imo.

anyway only 2 cents worth of opinon

i think there's only one wr200 part thats no longer in production and thats the cdi. which is pretty much a big deal.

i ride a wr2 before.. so far i dont have any difficulties to on my old wr.. maintanance is good, fuel consumtion is way better than ktm... no problems in tight trails.. if i were u, i would get a wr2.. more friendly bike :)

If you have deep pockets, any bike would be okay to ride.

Regarding the stopping of production of the WR200 CDI, i read somewhere in Slackriders that some US company is gonna reproduce it. So no worries.

Cheers.

dun think so much u wont ride it for the next 2 yrs anyway =D get 1 ride have fun with 2 stroke then eventually u change to a 4 stroker..

like what all said it depends what u wana use your bike for then choose.

if you ride daily and do not have a deep pocket -> wr200

if you dun ride daily, and wanna have maximum power -> ktm200

if you got $$$$ -> ktm 200

used to ride a wr200.

maintainance is cheap.

power delivery is good enough for a bike of that weight. =)

but u wont expect it to be faster than a lighter ktm.

at the same time, a ktm's maintainance can kill if anything was to go wrong...

otherwise servicing is as cheap as a wr200. (changing of engine oil, spark plug, 2t etc)

Hey. I am a guy from Germany and have a Yamaha wr 200 engine n my dt 125.

Now I want to make a complet rebuild of the engine and heard that there are for example crankshafts with blue racing pads whoch fits in the wr 200.

Many of you for example BottleCap or xcore said that there are still all party produced.

Can you maybe give me some link or more details where I can get it?

In Germany there are no parts for that^^.

Greetz and thanks Patrick

Sorry guys but my opinion is that both wr2 n ktm2 is worth buying. The only flaw for wr2 is that the part is not in production anymore but maintenance wise its cheaper. I'm an owner of ktm2 and ktm3 as I love two strokes engine.Well the myth that people always says KTM bikes is high maintenance actually its not.As long you really take care of the bike nothing goes wrong. Mostly people buy secondhand KTM the previous owner does not take care of it thats twhy it damage. Its up to the owner to clean the part after a day at track then it wont have probe.

Ktm2 is lighter and more strength in terms of performance rather then wr2.As KTM bikes are manufactured ready for race. But if you buying KTM2 for just a transport then to my opinion its not worth it as you gona waste your money on fuel consumption and if you ride KTM like a normmal road bike then you gona spoilt the valve sytem and trouble with wewt spark plug all the time.If you still presist on buying ktm2 I can reccomend you this person Benny at 96969607 he can help you find good ktm2.
