need guidance on choosing a 2nd hand class 2b bike

hi. i currently have few bike in mind. first is honda sp and second is kawa. but frm wad i heard frm my fren, he recommend me to buy kawa cus sp kind of old liao. so is it true? compare sp n kawa, which one is better in term of riding posture, maintenance, speed, handling and outlook? thanks.

Kawa, spare parts cheaper den SP, now available in jb too besides Ah boy. Performance wise, kawa is well known with it's raw power and aggressive throttling. I've been riding my kr for 4 yrs and no prob so far.. as long as a god 2t and regular servicing is done. I tot of letting go my kawa nxt yr april,2010 for a cls 2 bike. if u can wait 4 5 mre mths, we can neg e price.

 

SP, definitely nicer looking den kawa. Engine wise, it's better 2 cruise on SP rather den kawa as it's engine is smooth but in my opinion SP is nt a good high revving bike unless u mod. Parts wise, SP parts is much mre expensive den kawa, bt u will look mre garang riding SP la.. in my views.

oic. thanks for ur sharing. well. i ting i wud be getting in within dis 1 or 2 month time cus i need it for my skol nxt yr. i dun like kawa is cus of de front light and oso de back is kind of skinny. but for sp, de front light more nicer. haha. but can kawa travel long distance? cus i heard frm de some ppl said scrambler cant ride for long dis, cus when it reach 90km/h or 100km/h, bike start to shake liao. is it true?

lolx. i'm aware tt krr is a sport bike. but bro, i tot only now those new bike all come with 4 stroke, for krr is a old bike so is 2 stroke rite? but now class 2b sport bike whr can get 4 stroke ah? i only noe of aprilla r125, and de new yamaha r15. but both so ex. hahax.

well, aniwei, is it wiser to buy a new bike for class 2b? cus if i intend to buy a new bike, i wud go for yamaha r15, n wun be changing bike even though aft my class 2a license, cus r15 is almost like a class 2a bike oreadi. if not, i ting i wud choose either sp or kawa for de 2nd bike, den when i get class 2a license den i buy a new one. ani one can share wid me some idea or opinion? thanks. n oso, which insurance shall i buy? 1st, 2nd, 3rd party? thanks.

hi. as mention above on the thread title, i need lots of help from your experts. this is what i intend to do for my 2b bike.

 

i intend to look for either kawa kr150 or honda sp 150, budget max $2k, preferably stock bike cus i scare if modified, TP will catch. also, i intend to ride for about 1 or 2 year, den get my class 2a license and purchase a new 2a bike. i would be using my 2b bike for travelling to work and weekend outing, so in other word, will be traveling quite alot.

 

so here comes the qns. how to know whether that bike wun give any problem? what things to look out for? is the price stated worth it? which year coe end shall i look out for? how to know whether the seller trustable? what happen if the bike after purchased, appear to have lot of problem? What are the things to do before, during or after purchasing?

 

i apologise if those qns seem silly or noob, but those are the current qns i have in mind. hopefully can get lot of help or guidance or suggestions from your guys, reali appreciate it. thanks.

-_-, a well maintained bike won't give you alot of problem, as long as you take care of it you'll be fine. But I'll recommend KR. : )

all bikes will have problems. all bikes will have pros and cons as shared by others. there isn't a bike in the world that doesn't give problems some time or other.

 

with that in mind, pick one that looks, feels, smells and sounds the best based on your own judgement. nobody can help you with that. however, if you have a more experienced riding friend, bring your friend along for a second opinion. do not buy immediately. give yourself choice.

 

go google "used motorcycle evaluation guide" and have a read before you go. even though you can't do all the checks there, it gives a good idea of what to lookout for.

these 2 bikes for your 2k you can budget another 2k for repairs cos every mother son would have already whacked the bike to pieces already..

i been riding 2b for many years and i used to rode tzm,nsr,sp,aprilia,wave,cbr150,rxk,magic,4kr inculding my current ride..

 

imo,

firstly u have to decide yourself what bike do u like, no matter what people say, as long as u like it.

 

my ever first bike was a aprilia cos i like the (big bike) outlook and i was so happy to ride anywhere till nightmare happened. my aprilia went to a scrape yard,i regret it.. but i am happy that i DID RODE a problem bike before:cheeky:

 

but now i see your worries are small problem,

 

*kr = light ,frendly user, smooth rev from stop to peak, cheap on fuel,part,flexible cos skinny.

 

*sp = nice outlook , uncomfortable riding pose ,bike stable cos heavy, fast pick up but slow peak.

 

but the bike stat is one issue, u HAVE to find a good motor shop which u can trust/or your friend can trust..

 

my current ride was from bike dy**** , he told me no worries, he will do swee swee and YES , when i got my bike and i CRIED,

*fuel tank leak

*fuel cannot off/reserve

*brake pad all old

*cheap plug

*rim bented

*sprocket chain old

*UGLY GREEN PAINTWORK

 

One good motor i recommand is a.s.p,

u cant find a single dirt on your bike, new sprocket/chain,NEW PAINTWORK(you choose yourself) alot of new parts fix..

 

please i do not work there instead they would chase me for money cos that is the only motor shop i feel guilty(never pay)

 

so my point is, u can get a *almost prefect* bike if u are buying form a good and trusted shop.. good luck
