Hi There - I am looking for a ST1100 to move up from my transalp. I am picky about the bikes condition, and I intend to respray it. How much does this cost? Does it make any difference what colour I buy if it will be resprayed?

What else can I do to recondition the bike: for example how do the plastic parts wear; I assume a bike garaged indoors will be in better condition.

I am looking for a recent model (2000+) assuming that later models will be better and less worn (all owners being equal etc).

Am I on the right track here: any advice appreciated!

Thanks!

hey bro,

I also very gian... :cheeky:

up a sum & sign numerous papers is very easy. few reasons I hold back cuz Ive got other planning for my finances, got other commitments to look after rather than spending unnecessaryly.

due to work nature I wont be riding it as much as this bike was designed to take.... to get it for weekend use or posing purpose I dont see the need..! now a full tank of ST1100 can last me much longer than I'd expected..! :D

my advise to u is consider on ur need & budget 1st before making impulsive purchases.

Congratulations AB. I keep seeing these posts about people buying STX and it's making me gian. Anyone have suggestions on where to go to trade in my ST11 for an STX?

Thanks for the advise. Just sent my bike to Gopa last week for tune up and now running like a dream. Since it was running so nicely, I forked out extra for wash and polish (suntec basement). The guys there did a so-so job only. Is much better than it was but still not as nice as it could be. Bottom line, since I already spent money on the bike, I'll hold on to it for now. ST fuel efficient is ard there as its a big capacity bike. roughly ard 16-17km/l. it can go above 400km cos its hav e biggest petrol tank u can find. 28l

same to all bikes engne oil, e-oil filter, spark plug. but i notice ST 1s can last longer den other bikes. need to find out myself.

cant provide much info as i rode less den 2 weeks and my beaST ended up in hospital due to my carelessness..

when i depress the front brake, i kind of hear some noise from the front (like metal rubbing each other) intermittently.

i have just changed the brake pad but the noise did not go away.

any idea what is that? thanks.

do you have a picture of it? The cover that you are referring to is replaceable.I assume you not talking about the engine block itself right. You are referring to the cylinder head cover right (the top area where the spark plugs are) ?

Any wobbling? Sometimes new brakepad will have this sound..and it happens too when it has rain the day before and you have not ride it. Check your disc plate to see if its bend on the surface or any irregularities ..

Asking for a friend who just got a ST, US version 10-year old ...

Cruising in Malaysia at about 150 km/h, his bike will develop a wobble, then gotta bring down speed. Any idea why?

I ride behind him, I see his rear left box seems to be shaking. Will it come off while riding? Anyway to secure it better?

Thanks.

... what you looking at? Never seen a cow that wants to go places ????! ...

how he secure the base plate to the bike? using the original st11 givi extension bar? tighten the base plate loh. then put some cloth or go hardware store buy those sponge like thingy to put btwn base plate n box. should reduce amt of wobbling.

think its normal for all bikes to wobble a bit if they got rear boxes. try riding the bike without rear box and u can feel the big diff
