Up for your sale, looks like you put a lot of effort into your bike! Gotta take a look before it gets sold!

Btw, how did you put your IU in the glove compartment? Where did you do it and how much? I am thinking of doing the same sometime soon.

Thanks!

For the IU, it is not a problem : )

A few of those who rides an STX have done it. It would either be a powerlet socket, battery pack or a direct placement vs having it placed on a bracket

Hi guys

Some update from http://www.my-mc.com/messages/1/132993.html?1281545346

"

Anyway, lately, it is a mixup. On the "good" times, it will rise to about 1500 rpm, and quickly settle down to about 1050 - 1100 rpm and be fine.

On "bad" times, it will jump to about 1100 - 1200 rpm and then go down to about 500 and stall. When I start her up again, if I get the engine to rev to 3000 - 4000 rpm two or three times, most of the time it will settle down to about 1050 - 1100 rpm and stay steady.

This all happens before the temperature evens starts to rise on the meter ... when it finally gets to the usual three bars, the engine runs fine.

I have done quite some mileage lately ... I do not perceive any lack of power either running staedy or on acceleration, nor do sense any hesitation. Once it has warmed up, the bike runs like a charm as it always has.

It is onle on immediate startup ... the first time in the morning. Once it is up and running normally ... I can shut her down and start her up later and it will go fine. "

"

i've had a similar problem (ST1300A02). After reading a lot of research (mainly here) I opened her up.

Under the intake manifold (between the throttle body assy) there is a 5 way hose junction (vacuum). Dirt can accumalate in the plastic 5 way junction causing the Map sensor to sense the wrong vacuum. I replaced the hoses and cleaned out the 5 way junction (there was some dirt in there) and since then no more stalling when cold (first run on the day)

Previously i posted on the cleaning the 8 holes located below the air filter as advised by Meng Tong. Looks like the root cause is as described above.

Do keep this in mind especially when getting the workshop to clean the throttle bodies.

Cheers

Thanks CS for updating

The other simple thing to remember which we often forget, is to allow the ECU to prime up for a few seconds when the key is turned on, before hitting the starter. Our usual "bad" habit is to kick up the starter when the key turns on the bike.

For my bike A3, allowing the ECU to prime up first will ensure the Autochoke is activated when the starter is engaged..,,,

Those who are on STX can validate if my deduction is correct : )

Hi bros n sis. I wld like to check wat is the machine price now for STX?my mind is undecided between STX n FJR. Pls help me decide n state the pros n cons for the 2 bikes.thx for ur help!

both are good touring bikes, FJR- SPORTS touring where else STX TOURING sports. Both my buddy n me , he on FJR n me on STX did the iron butt ride from Gelang Patah to Hua Hin in 18 hrs and both bikes performed well on highway and twisties. I personally find the STX much comfy n tour oriented and FJR more sporty. FJR is more powerful in HP wise but STX much smoother V4 engine.

Both are reliable bikes . End of the day u have to test ride both and feel which is meant for u ;)

Do also check out the Kawa GTR1400 Concours . Great reviews for the 2010 edition though tank is only at 5.8 gallon. STX is at 7.7 gallon and FJR 7.0 gallon which would give u theoritcally 400++km per tank.

For STX, we need to wait till the FI light is off before starting the engine, as stated in the owner's manual. It's for the fuel pump to prime.

Checked with Looi last month at $29000/= OTR but do note its a 2008/2009 production. I went for a C14 2010 instead. You may wanna consider a well maintained 2nd hand STX.

Had change the Carb pin, but the same problem still persist. Mech at ubi "p****t" told me cant help it...just come over to change spark plug whenever it burn......this has goes on for quite some time and my ride is due for COE renewal.......

Any bro or sis had similiar problem and can advise help or shop to recommend who can do a good repair at a reasonable price (I think also changing timing belt too)? beside this problem the bike is serving me well......really hope i can continue riding it.....Please HELP .....
