Sorry if this topic has been brought up before, but need some info or help on the following:

My bike was parked in a bike lot in Lorong Telok at 9am yesterday (25 Jan, Monday), went back to the bike at 7.50pm to find that there are deep scratches on one side of the side pannier, and the fairing was smashed on the right pannier.

Asked around and 1 lady working at the shop right behind where I parked told me she saw a male driver accompanied with a lady knock down my bike with his car, but she did not take down the car plate (probably attempted illegal parallel park), they lifted the bike back up and it scratched the right side of the pannier with the lamppost. A piece of paper was left tucked at the handle bar with a scribbled mobile no. : 9195 1672 but the phone is off, checked with M1 and they say it’s a prepaid card line.

Lodged a report with TP and my insurance, but told by my insurance I probably will have to pay it myself if cannot find the driver (im on 3rd party coverage).

Any advise or next steps I should take? Theres a police camera near my bike, not sure if its able to take down the accident or vehicle etc, noted that down in TP report.

Thanks for any constructive feedback in advance.

have gone thru this process before, my bike was knocked down by a "singtel" van w/o me knowing it till a person nearby told me.... i made a police report and the officer said that it would be reffered to TP... but till now, (i sold the bike off already)... i heard no news... IF ONLY YOU HAVE THE PLATE NO. then it would be better

i think it would be a waste of time trying to find the driver who knocked your bike down... i was knocked down by a driver at a traffic junction... 2 yrs on... driver still at large... LOL... i hate to say this... becos i pride myself being in a super safe country... traffic matters, unless its DD and fines... the traffic police are not that efficient...

the TP would tell u... not enuf evidence... so i think unless the number u have is legit and switched on with the driver admiting to his mistake... i think u have to pay the cost urself...

The sad thing is that this happened during lunch time, opposite Killiney coffeeshop (about 5m away) in Lorong Telok and theres a large crown for lunch there. Nobody bothered to take down any thing etc whatsoever ....

Now just hoping the bugger will on the phone or TP will bother tracing the number or looking at the police camera which is like 2m away from where i parked.

Can any kind soul share with me what is the probability that TP will look into this case (trace the mobile number and look into the police camera).

Is there anyway at all I can trace the M1 number's owner details?

Also, its been 4 days since I made the report, havent heard from anybody yet, called them up and was told it will take 2 weeks for them to get back to me ... not sure if they mean 2 weeks to assign an Investigating Officer or 2 weeks to complete investigations ...

Anyone with similar experiences please advise?

Sorry to say that you might not have a case as you was not there, no one to be your witness.

Put yourself in the position of the driver, if someone call you, told you he had reported this to TP. Thinking you may face risking some points off your license, will you stand up and agreed to take the blame at that point of time.

Yet, sad to say TP or even police will do a details investigation on those which involve those who are injuired. So guess your case will be hang there for a longlong time.

just my 2cents worth opionion.

Police should be able to trace the owner of this prepaid line, as prepaid line needs to be registered too, errrr.... right????

Hope that u will be able to get the claim.

Problem is not sure if that is the real number of the driver or he may do an about turn and claim that it isnt him, someone else just wrote his number.

Anyway, just found out that the number expired on the 27th Jan. So i dont know what his motive was in putting the number

hey Boner, i had the same issue here when not 1 but 2 cars reversed into my bike. the owners of the car then picked up the bike for me without leaving a note. I saw this on the security camera of the carpark i was in. i spoke with the management and managed to get them to give me the footage, in which i got the car number plate from.

This is important because this was the only evidence in which i sifted through the hours of footage of the camera.

The next step was to make a police report at TP Headquarters at Kaki Bukit there.

The waiting time for the investigations to be made was heck long, SO i managed to get hold of the TP investigator in charge of my case. TP HQ gave me his office number because i wanted to know HOW LONG more will they take..

The investigator will then inform the other party to come make HIS OR HER police report and then see whether you or the other party is in the wrong.. then claims can be made like get your bike repaired, so on and so forth.

Mind that you need to be parked legally and not illegally. If parked illegally then by going to TP not sure what they will or can do..

All in all, got back my bike from shop and the other party got fined and like some points.. I really understand your case because it was a "HIT AND RUN" so to speak.. I hope this helps!

so get the car no. plate if you can, from there TP will handle the rest..

Some bike shops have lawyers attached to them, so if you win the case, then the bike shop repair for you for free lor..

experienced the same thing at a busy public carpark...left my bike n pipe with scratches..i had nothing to pursue with..a witness saw blue cab but no no. plate..i just gave up..

Thanks bro for your helpful advise and opinion.

Unfortunately for my case i dont think the police camera 2 metres away is able to capture the carplate number or the incident since I think the point of the camera is actually to focus on the pubs area (for fights etc).

I got a call from the TP officer 3 days ago after writing in to the Customer Service email telling them I havent had any response from TP since i reported the incident 3 weeks ago. The office non chalantly replied that i should not pin my hopes up on finding the suspect or his footage from the camera, not sure if they will even bother to trace the mobile number, disappointed with the way things are handled but oh well ... what to do.

Lucky thing you managed to find the S.O.B who knocked your bike down :)

Disappointed? not trying to add salt to your wound but think it very common.

Only with a paper with written hp number but not evidence to find the car which knocked down your bike, sorry to say but usually TP, I will not said ignore but will just put it aside til YOU have new evidence rather relying them to find.

Anyway chill dude, look on the bright side, that no one is injury in an 'accident'.

well i am sorry to say that, i really hate to know that ur bike got knock down. I also kana this before somemore at suntec shopping centre (no bike lot). I park near the entrance / exit of the carpark (alot of car go in and out) then my bike just park right behind a grey lancer, after shopping for about 1hr plus i wanna to go back to my bike to put my shopping item then i realise my poor x1 is lying on the floor with 1/2 tank of petrol flowing on the floor. The mall so big, carpark so big, so many car go in and out. No one, not a single driver help me to pick up my bike (when i am not around).

I report the security & police it doesnt help, suntec security say inverstage but no turn out (negetive). they say CCTV cant see clearly which car knock down my bike in the carpark as my bike got block by something. They say they will not compansate my bike is because is not the management fault (park at ur own risk) and the only way is to make the police report if i want to claim. FYI no note or $$$ was given to me from the idoit driver who knock down my bike.

So my day was bad very very bad, i went to the polic station to make a report the police tell me say cannot make report cause no proof, no exact no plate of the car the knock down my bike. So i only can claim my insurance or let it go. I Fxxking wanna to kill myself for that.

Waste my time talking to the security at suntec, waste my time on the police and end of the day i get nothing.

I learn my lesson, i will never ever park my bike at suntec again. Ever now i go shopping at suntec i will only park my bike at MS. I feel is so much safer then at suntec. The place is so much wider then suntec, so much choices that i can park any park of MS carpark i want.

There is someone out there for me

I know there is someone out there

I know she is waiting so patiently yeah

Can you tell me her name?

(Somebody tell me her name)

This life-long search is gonna drive me insane

How does she laugh?

How does she cry?

What's the color of her eyes?

Does she even realize I'm here?

Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?

Where is this beautiful girl?Who is she? Who is she?

Who is gonna complete my world?

Cool dude. Suntec do have some proper parking for bikes but very limited as we all know.

Believe the spot you parked is not safe as you mentioned above. Likewise driver may be making silly complaint on bikes parking all over the mall which one fine day, either charge bike for per entry if not totally restrict bikers which sound bad for us.

It really down to park at your own risk. Yet again, good point made and shared here. Think MS offering better parking space for bikers but more limited than Suntec I assume if not wrong.

Just my 2cents worth of opinion, for both MS and Suntec, the malls are offering FREE parking Now for bikers which I personally think it kinda hard to find nowadays in CBD area.

Hence, get a good lot am sure your bike will be safe.

:cheeky:

Enjoy when we can!

well i believe it's true that free parking for both area is worth it. Well maybe that day i am just unlucky. Like what speedy say MS have more bike lot then suntec. Now my lesson is learn (expensive) by repairing my bike and buy new helmet (also broke while got knock down) i dont dare to feel save in suntec.

Did that once bro, just as i was about to lift the bike up the rider came down and accuse me of knocking his bike down.

Told him i was just helping to lift the bike up as i saw the bike flat on its side.

He even said, if you are not the 1 that knock down my bike why pick it up?

I was like WHAT????????

So till now i dont bother no more.
