Takehow...i came across this...since our Ignition sometimes failed on us...why not we try do a little cleanup in the ignition rather than spend $120 for a new ignition...

check this out..our ignition contacts must have been dirty or something...its worth to do the cleanup..who knows it might solve it totally...

http://venturers.org/Tech_Library/attachments/image001.jpg

If you remove the two screws in the next picture this will get you into where the contacts are that need replacing when the switch fails.

http://venturers.org/Tech_Library/attachments/image002.jpg

Here is what you have when the two pieces are separated

http://venturers.org/Tech_Library/attachments/image003.jpg

http://venturers.org/Tech_Library/attachments/image004.jpg

Another thing that I have read in the past is that lubing where the key goes in will help lube your contacts and make them last longer. I do not see this doing anything but lubing the pins in the cylinder and getting your pocket dirty . If we look past the upper set of contacts you can see a little bit more of how the switch is built.

http://venturers.org/Tech_Library/attachments/image005.jpg

As you can see the piece in the bottom of the picture gets screwed into the assembly (pretty much sealing it off) and is taking the rotation of the cylinder and transferring it to the contacts. The key cylinder itself is still down in the bottom of the assembly and there is really no way for any lube to make it to the contacts. Here is another picture showing the bottom of the switch.

how?want to try?

Nope. That's a Yamaha thing. You need to tilt the key down a bit then can turn. At first I tot it's was old ignition problem, but then it was stated in the manual and suddenly everything went ohh.....(cos I couldn't turn my friend's Yamaha Royal Star :p)

I think their problem is a different thing

Try to use WD40 with the extended tube & lube the keyhole, as WD40 act as a clean agent.....it might 'flush' the 'dirt' out.

What do ya mean dude? Change bike already ah?

no lah...

just before my last trip,i did some changes to the bike.

during the fraser trip,i was using the front pirelli semi off-rd that wobbles above 180km/hr and during the fraser trip,i didnt use any sidecases and top box, bike hit 196km/hr wobble badly.so here,i have the conclusion maybe bcoz of the front tire max speed not to exceed above 150km/hr

So before this trip,i have removed the capalang balancer and replaced it with those Acerbis handgrds bar end.

another thing is i installed the alu panniers..not sure if the not aero dynamic shape might have an effect.and the rack was modded.so maybe the mounting points are not very strong having alot of vibration when its fully loaded.

Last point,my front tyre is michelin sirac not tubeless which i have installed with tube in it.

so at this moment, the stable cruising speed is there.
