Destination : Mersing

Date : 26 July 2009 (SUN)

Meetup : 1st Link SHELL @ 8.30-9am latest (the shell right after the new 1st link custom...)

Don't ask if got trail or not, where to?

tentatively, the organiser also never update...so basically,i think we will be riding further upwards towards airpapan to the coastal route...chill by the beach, and long way back towards Gunung Berlumut to Simpang Renggam...

Those who really want to ride, don't complaint.

I dunno the number of riders that will be going....so,when all have gathered,by 9.30am max we will proceed...

see you...bring towel and bermudas...

For a person like me who spends his time more facing the monitor than out there doing justice on adventure....

We seek nothing more, nothing less....just passion.

well..

the original sprockets a pair used to cost about $70...now rise to $90.

for Chain,i usually buy the sprockets at Auto Machinery, then go to Ahboy and buy X-ring or O-ring about $75-90....add $5-10 for the sprockets fitting...

Still waiting for Ansley's portion of the pics ley. Basket. But here's some teasers.

This is for a trip Ansley and me did last Dec. We went up and basically bypassed Malaysia and Thailand for our destination Cambodia and Laos. It was a good ride and an enjoyable experience :)

River crossing video.

We were in Laos enroute to Phonsavan. Looked at the map and didn't wanna take the road to Vientiane up cos we'll be taking the same route down. We saw a road that cut across up and decided we'll take it. What's the worst that could happened? Turns out it was a road they cut out of the mountain and it was anything BUT tarmac. Sand, mud, rover, gravel, up and down mountain slopes.

More pics here. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/

My cam battery always ran out at the exciting parts which were taken by Ansley's camera. Yet to get the pics from him.

Some teasers in no particular order ;)

Train station at Bangkok. We rode to Hatyai and decided we wanted to skip the whole journey up so we can rest and save our energy to go to Cambodia.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/IMG_1038.jpg

Good thing we did. The road to Cambodia was ****. We took about 6 hours to cover 100+km. Top speed by speedster Ansley, 50+km/h. Top speed by noob me, 15-20km/h. Number of rest stops. Countless. Our bikes, helmets, jackets, gloves and everything were red after the jorney. Kissed the tarmac when we finally hit it at about 3am and we sprung for a 7 day ferment egg. Or rather Ansley sneak-bought them while I went looking for cigs.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/IMG_0293.jpg

The moment we entered the "short cut" to Phosavan, we crashed. Soft sand in the beginning. Took 2 days to reach our destination. We camped at a farmer's shelter. No pics yet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/IMG_0714.jpg

After reaching Phosavan. Half the bike caked in mud, half the mud washed away from river crossing. I think we went thru 3 rivers.

Jars of Clay.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/IMG_0729.jpg

Thought we'd leave early to get more riding time in the day light. Big mistake. It was so cold and foggy that we couldn't see anything.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/IMG_0842.jpg

Junction of Phonsavan and Luang Brabang. Forgot the name.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/plasticblackspecs/Laos%20Camb/IMG_0982.jpg

Beginning of the end. Made it to friendship bridge at Laos after getting lost lots. After that it was a long boring ride back to Bangkok.

Waiting for the rest

yah...i am slowly feeling it dude...

hope your bike repair is done...last Sun me,jimmy and man had dinner at Yeo's seafood restaurant at kampong pendas...

we thought that why not we could have a regular sunday brunch there and some short ride around GP while at the same time can go for bikewash and refuel...So at least both of us can still enjoy with our bikes and friends,at the same time, not leaving the MHA at home on weekend nights...

PBS...i might be doing some project on the fork...

option 1...i am dealing a pair of XR400R just the fork with a friend...

i have a spare set of front wheel, spare brake reservoir and stock disc rot....,so,if some time and money at hand,i will try to slot the XR4 fork into the TDM clamp.if succeed,i will need to find the XR4 front wheel spindle, caliper, brakehose and if extra money,320mm disc rotor...well...that would definately settle the front end...

about the rear, all i need to do is replace the shock linkage or another word, dogbone to a shorter ones...this will raise the rear...last,i have to replace a longer sidestand...

Downside...bike will look abit cartoon with front spoke wheels and rear sportrims...and the mainstand wont be any good use.

Goodside...the mod is reverseable...becoz the whole front end of the TDM is untouch...meaning...i can just plug in the whole TDM fork together with the wheel, and braking set which consist the caliper, brake reservoir, brake hose and disc rotor...

Option 2.I might want to scrap my domi...so i got the whole front end to play and swap with...with this done, very little money involve...

So what you think?
