AJ, no lobangs for windscreens. You got to get it on your own from the Aussie folks if you want eagle screens. Height of the screen depends really on your own personal comfort level. Some like more wind in their face..like solo who still uses the orignal screen. Some dun like it to be too tall like goldwing-look-alike. You got to experiment it yourself really...plus this area has alot of subjectivity involved. What works for me might not work for you. Currently, I like my current one as it blocks off wind pretty well and I can ride with my visor up. Yet I am looking over the screen...not through it. Only at high speeds does wind start to hit my helmet and I have to close my visor and duck down a little. So its still not 100% perfect for me as well.

Btw, AJ. Where did you do the 'lightning' sticker on the side fairing? Looks nice and very 'dakar' like. :thumb: How much?

Mine is quite stiff too. Brake seems to be the reason.

Usually I hit 350 then reserve. Sometimes more. 75% if my riding is on expressways and at speed of 100 - 120km/hr.

Single rider with top and side cases.

Ur pic is it taken near Kallang indoor stadium?

AJ, 320km is way too low for the TDM. Even when I'm throttle happy in SGP roads, it has never gone that low. 350-380 is normal if you shoot off at every traffic light and cruise 110-120km/h. If you are very disciplined, hitting 400km b4 reserve is not a problem at all.

Wheel should spin freely w/o much resistance. There should not be brake rub. If yes, please service ur calipers. They might be caked with brake dust which would need cleaning to ensure smooth operation. Or else ur wheel bearings might be busted. Time to replace them.

Hi AJ,

320km hitting reserve is too low for the TDM900. Mine hits reserve about 350-380km, similiar to barracuda's fuel consumption. 80% of mileage is done on expressway. Refueling averages about 440-460km for 18-20L of Mobil/Esso Syn5000. That comes to about 22-23km/L.

You may want to check idling RPM, sticking of throttle cable, CO setting of each cylinder, dragging brakes, BTW what's your weight? (barracuda, yappiez and me all weight below 60kg).

Cheers,

kyquek

thanks guys..well...i weight heavier than u guys...:giddy:

well barracuda...my tots are exactly the same...it shud not be stiffed...

well, solo did told me tat he already changed the wheel bearings....

i thk i try riding the bike for awhile...need to understand the attitude of thebeast...

Hi AJ,

I do not think there are any internal mods to your TDM. All the TDM owners I know run the bike fully stock apart from external mods for aesthetics and functionality. A few possible cause for your higher fuel comsumption.

1) Your weight (80kg + ur 40kg SO = 120kg...not forgetting your panniers and topbox)

2)Have you solved your wheel 'sticking' issue yet? If there's still friction, its gonna affect FC for sure.

3)Check your tyre pressures. You should be pumping higher pressure than us due to your higher laden weight. Insufficient pressure will increase tyre contact with ground..hence more friction = higher FC. Botak tyres also have higher FC.

4)Leave everything stock (air filter, throttle position/body, CO2 settings) Your air filter might be clogged hence higher FC.

As for the 180km/h wobble...personally I do not experience that. I just run with side panniers and 220km/h is no problem at all. Seriously, all our TDMs are set up differently...topbox, no topbox, panniers, no panniers. hi screen, low screen, handguards, no handguards....environmental conditions..etc...alot of variables that might affect handling of the bike at high speed. A more objective test would be to run the TDM stock and add the accessories bit by bit. If it wobbles after you add that thing, then most likely thats the cause. Comics00 runs his TDM almost stock apart from a hi-screen. No wobbles reported and he's our record holder at 222km/h hahaha (Digital speedo hehehe)

Dun worry too much about the TDM, its a very reliable workhorse. My personal recommendation is to send to HL (agent) if you still can't solve your FC issue. Others will follow up with their favourite motordiams. :thumb:

Also dun worry too much about the FC...

its hard to get it to improve by 1 or 2 when its already quite high..

I will only worry when it goes below 17... Touch wood hasnt happen yet.

Posted

180 for me also wobble a little bit but still managable.

I once hit 205 and the wobbling is too scary for me. I will never try it again.

Then again i have balls this small > .

so dun take me as a comparsion.

hahaha...

ok dudes...thank you so very much for enlightened me with all the points....noted...

i already called loois...since bike jus bought within a mth...so can try go back there n see wat they can do...if the same, will try go to HL...the wheel still hvnt got the chance to go shop n check...coz i normally ride vespa to werk...only at nite then hav a spin....anyone wanna have a spin or kopi?me goin down simpang bedok tonite...gonna meet one of d dude rides a tdm...
