So yappiez, mastered the art of wheelie-ing???

Whats everyone up to recently? Pretty quiet here. Any up & coming 'projects' or mods?

I'm currently in the midst of modding my eagle screen to improve the airflow at high speeds. Will keep everyone posted on the progress :cheeky:

Asap, the difference is the engine layout. Parallel twins are more compact in design compared to v-twins. Its about half the width of an inline 4 without the rear protruding cylinder like v-twins. Its not as vibey as a v-twin and neither is it as smooth as an inline 4. So its kinda in-between if you get what I mean. Personally, its 75% as smooth as an inline 4 at cruising rpms. Parallel twins can sound like v-twins (aka ducati style) when aftermarket exhausts are fitted. Original cans are quite tame. For reviews, just read the rest of the thread. Alot has been discussed till death. What do you need to know exactly? We'll be glad to answer specific questions.

rattlesnake & Asap, 05,06 models are essentially the same only with paintjob/sticker differences. They have an improvement over the 04 models which is the ABS option. Without the ABS, its the same as the 04 model. Immobliser (coded key) comes standard from 04 onwards.

rattlesnake, show us your TDM man! What colour did you get? Accessories? Planning to mount side panniers? I'm selling my H&B side pannier rack. PM me if keen.

AJ, nice bumping into you today on the road. Hahaha, cannot miss your TDM with the stainless steel engine guards. :thumb:

I'm torn between getting V-Strom or TDM. Actually was settling down for V-Strom blue but they only have black whc is similar to my Vara. Wanted a diff color for ma new bike. Then TDM came to my mind but only have '05 not '06 models whc has jio stickers. I like TDM gd fuel consumption but size is small n has slimmer handle width. Bike height plays a crucial factor for tall guy like me. Does any1 of u change the handlebars to a wider one. Is it true TDM engine oil capacity is more than 4litre?

A few of us are actually using the africa twin handlebars. Alot of vstrom riders change to AT bars as well. Its wider than the OEM ones. Its up to individual preference for handlebar height and width.

TDM's engine oil capacity is 3.9L with oil filter change and 3.8L w/o oil filter change. Thats what the manual states. Have never topped up more than 4L before myself. Where/who did you hear this rumour from?

Saw the bike specs frm Yamaha website states oil capacity 4.7L. Glad that is not true.

Hi Asap, agree that TDM is smaller than a Vstrom. Was riding an African Twin and when switch to a TDM, feels almost like a 2B( no offence guys). But now i have a bike that is lighter and more powerful. :cheer: But of course there are pros and cons to this. BTW, i'm 1.85m and i find the height of the bike is just right. Good luck on your search..

Boon16 > Gd for u. I'm like 9cm taller. If only i'm shorter n smaller in built, i would gone straight for TDM. No 2 ways abt it. :cheeky:

well...true...i used to ride n owned AT before...used to ride the V-strom too....after ride the TDM...riding the AT seems like wat boon had mention earlier...the V-strom is powerfull...very raw power...but its preety much heavy n longer....i dare not even lift it up to park on mainstand...TDM power wise is smoother than V-strom...but have the same grunt....try to ride 1...u will noe wat i mean....nvr regret to own 1....so far jus rode it for 5 mths...and still counting...hehehe...

Just finished my windscreen mod with the help of my neighbour. Basically I added a MRA vario flip-up piece to my eagle screen. Pics to come later coz would not look good taking it at night. Did a test and it was definitely better. I used to couch down a little at high speeds to get below the slip stream above the helmet. Now I can ride comfortable with my visor up at high speeds without the fear of my TX helmet peak catching wind :cheer: The little piece sure does its job well in pushing the air fliow higher up above my helmet. I experience lesser wind noise also.

If anyone is interested in the mod, I'll be glad to help.

AJ, cannot sell you my screen lah...now with all my hard work put into it...lagi more precious to me hahaha

boon16, was that you this evening ard 6pm along AYE after queensway exit? I saw a yellow TDM with E21 panniers zipping past on the opposite side.

Hi Ed, me too have to crouch down a little when riding at high speed. But i find it's good cos when i feel a bit too hot i can just sit up straight and let the wind cool me down. But if the flip-up piece deflects the wind even when i sit up straight, then i don't think its that good. But i guess, to each his own.

Yup, i saw u too with the hepco boxes.. was rushing to service my bike. Jus came back from kuantan.. :cheer: TDM is really a bike you can corner hard..

I'll be there! see ya!

You have travelled to places others have not ventured....You read books that others have never heard of....You see humour in unusual places. And you've always gone your own way. Why, then, should you ride a bike that's like all the rest?
