So far didnt hear anything abt TDM 900, maybe i can help to start.

 

Totally redesigned from the ground up, the unique new TDM900 runs with an uprated 900cc parallel twin cylinder engine featuring electronic fuel injection for a whole lot more punch right around the dial. when down to HL last week and found out the Yamaha side box has arrive. touch touch abit n c that can fit 1 full face each side.

I think it the same pannier used in FJR1300. If Yes, each side can hold one FF helmet with some space for a set of rain clothes.

Saw a TDM900 with the side panniers at HL showroom also. Look nice on the bike.

the bike original have no side protect bar also.

no lah! i mean 1 set (2 box n bracket) S$1500.

 

its a very economy bike. so far no problem n 1 tank (20l) can travel ~450k - ^500K.

some ask y mileage diff (450km-^500km) so much.

 

last time when up north the rev. lights up ard 360km. was ridding ~160-^200km/h.

last couple of weeks due to wok i was travelling between changi & LCK (90% of the time on PIE) the rev lights up only after 420km (~80-120km/h) each time i pump in ard 17l of syn5000. that woks out to ~24 - ^25 km for each liter of petrol.

great to find someone riding the same bike i would say your bike fuel consumption is much better than mine. personally i think the original side panniers are very nice but the pricing is way too ridiculous... im currently using a full hepco system- a 45L top box and 40L side panniers... for the price of the orginal panniers anyway which year and what color is your TDM model? maybe can give you a friendly wave if i see u on the road

hi, i bought my 2002 model tdm9 for $18500 at loois motor in 2002 when i was 26... i think the price for a brand new one should be around 17000-18000. depending if the motorshop is having the 03 or 04 model. you can try asking at loois or dili...

Gentleman the TDM is a beautiful & aggresive looking bike, pls go ahead & blast off any africa twin on the road if it is beside you on the road.......

my is a 2002 july silver TDM (wave! wave!)

 

bought it at $17,500 otr (30yrs old) think the price now ~$16,000 machine.

Wah TDM sounds like a good option for me when i upgrade to class 2 hehe...btw ur fuel consumption is 25-26km /L...thts damn good leh...my 400cc bike oredy 27km/L

 

Whts the comforttable cruising speed ar? How much Engine Oil need for every oil change?Insurance is under wht category(tourer,faring, non faring)?

comsuption most of the time btw ^24-25+km/L

per svc need 4L of oil. the ins. not very sure, got to ask the motor diam

pump up today with 19.1L (syn 5000) n metre at 483.4km

that works out to 483.4/19.1 = 25.31km/L

 

great "fig" comparing to my vulcan800 ~ 250km for 15L =16.7km/L

when up north twice with it n cruise between 140km/h-160km/h (5000-6000rpm) n it feels stick to the road

 

even ride ^200km/h also feels very sercure.

Brother, this bike ok not if custom jam, would the bike over heat?

I saw some Honda Steed over heatted, coolant spill out from radiator.

And some bike clucth can jam or wear off very fast.

we can only say so much based on our PERSONAL experience;

 

in the end, it's you who will be riding it!

 

my advise is to hop on the bike...if possible ride and THEN DECIDE whether you wan to buy the TDM...

 

it's designed to suit most bikers temperament; good slow speed control, not too high seats, parellel twin engine(that behaves like a vtwin(has the torque) but vibrates like a inline4(less vibration compared to a vtwin)-so i my opinion, the engineers were trying to get the best of both worlds....

 

if you were to ask me what i hate/wish can be improved about the bike(tdm850)

-out dated exhaust pipes! and it's damn heavy

-ugly looking exhaust pipes! like MILO KONGS

-engine sounds rough(like a ducati) but it's personal preference anyway

-not enough wind protection for the serious tourer...

no experience in custom jam but can imagine kenna chiat left, right, centre by kups. don't know about crash bar but engine guards are available from a givi, h&b etc seng kwang should be able to fashion something.

was jam (night) at the custom once (over 1hr) the bike did turn red (temp) n the fan turned on. feeling the heat cooking my 2 ding dong i off the bike n let it rest for ~20min b4 starting it again.

 

as for coolant spill out, bike on fire, engine blowing into pieces ect. personally never encounter b4.

 

Ride pos - FZ more like sports n TDM more upright n comfort

Engine - FZ (600) in-line 4 with high hp got more top n smooth n TDM paralle twin more tq n rough(sound)

 

both FZ600 n TDM900 is diff, 1 is a road bike n the other is a tourer, so not fair to compare lah. like everyone else said "every bike is design to suit diff ppl, so u will have to ride both to decide which 1 u prefer."

was ridding between changi n LCK (~100km/day) due to work, the more i ride on the expressway(80km/h-120km/h on TPE/SLE/BKE/KJE) the fuel consumption seems better!

 

today just top up after work n to my surprise manage to only pump in 18.9L (syn500) while the metre shows 489km! that works out to ~25.8km/L. this the best no. i ever got.
