Hi ppl, wat is the OIL light for? why does it light up (red) before i start engine? When it light up while Im riding... what does it mean?

Not sure what model of S4 you rding..at any rate..the light "on" before starting engine is a self test and check that the led is working..it goes "off" after starting...when it comes on when you are riding..means "problem". This goes fot the temperatue too. It's a standard practice in design for any equipment or machinary that requires operation system monitor and self test.

The Oil light is up when the engine is not started is the norm for all 4-stroke engines. This is because this light is activated by low oil pressure. If the engine is not started, there's no oil pressure in the engine, simple. During engine operation, should it lights up, suspect any of the following causes: faulty oil pressure switch, insufficient engine oil, faulty oil pump, clogged oil filter.

Does that means that the temperature warning light is suppose to light up before we start the engine too??? Cause mine didn't light up, and i was wondering how to know if the warning light is faulty?

That's right Dkoh...meaning your red led is screwed..can be burned out led to circuit board or bad connection. The proper operating temperatire of the engine is 80 degreed Cleuis (176 Fahrenheit) if I remember correctly. The fan cut on temperature is about 98 (208.4 dg F)degreed Celuis to 102 d C (215.6 dg F)..anything above that..its overheating and the red led supposed to warn you.

If your led is faulty..guess you ahve to gain access to it..desoldered it and replace with a new one..I think it's attached to a small circuit board (come with).

Hi riders...

Wanna ask you all if anyone has a 1997 manufactured Version S manual book...

If have can put-up the manual on thiz forum for reference to all...

What is the STANDARD mileage before reserved and full-tank mileage??

Anyone got change thermostat, radiator set n radiator hoses before??

Anyone VerS with Yoshimura Titanium can??

Can compare your mileage before and after u change to the pipe?

For those VerS with Yoshimura Titanium can, how you setting??

Dyno jetting or tuning by talling ur pipe with the pilot/main jet(reduce-jetting)??

PLEASE ADVICE

Can be an infringement of copyrights clause.

No such thing. The route you take each day, the way you rev and ride your ride is different, different tyre sizes...etc..etc.....how to standardise?

Anyone got change thermostat, radiator set n radiator hoses before??

Ypu get an answer of "yes" and ""no"...be more specific of what you want to know and wht you asked?...you coolant system screwed or what?

Anyone VerS with Yoshimura Titanium can??

Again...not sure what ppl gonna answer you..if "yes" then what? My point is what do you want to know?..cost, performance?...etc..? Be more constructive other than bits and drabs question that lead to multiple posting of answers.

Anyone VerS with Yoshimura Titanium can??

You will never have any true answers..if any...its all "Argarh_ration" and unreliable.

For those VerS with Yoshimura Titanium can, how you setting??

Only a mech who does it right knows..I'm not sure even if the mech does it correctly or not unless its a ECU bike where mapping is iinvolve.

Dyno jetting or tuning by talling ur pipe with the pilot/main jet(reduce-jetting)??

Just know that end of the day..your bike is still a 399cc and like someone mentioned here in SBF in sopme other thread that I read before...there is no way you can alter or expect anything "red Bull" by dyno jetting or having racy exhaust full system etc..unless you rebore your cyclinder, change piston size, advance and retard timing tunning (lots of testing)...etc. It worth your time only if you are into track tunned bike for race. In short...53 horsepower means 53 horspower.

If you want responsiveness and peak performance what your bike roiginally created for..just make sure you change eo regularly, grounding (if old bike) and keep that air filter clean (depend on environment) and use a little extra right additive.

Thanks Ah Pek... I tot its wasn't suppose to light up unless overheating... Guess i gotta go get it repair, but anyway where can i get that LED bulb? And is the removal of the meter assembly to this area difficult.... Cause if too complicated i think i shall bring it to motordiam and do it or else wait if i spolit anything on the eletrical system it will then cost me a bomb to repair...

Base on my judgement...its already a bomb..the mech can say anything..to do it in mototiam..its a simple job really but just the dismantling can be quite a task. if you can live without it..it should be ok..overheating is very very rare as long as you keep the coolant system in good condition..like once in every 6 months just check the reserve reservoir for coolant level.

The other thing is that if it does exceed operating temperature..the fan switch would turn on the fan. In short...very safe lah. I think the ledis the normal one but you have to find the right size for its head-up to fit the screen plate access hole. Also right voltage is important. Imagine the mototiam ppl have to do all that 'labour' for you just to get it change.

If you are very persistance about having it change still..may be pm me first. If I were you...I let live with it.

Do check the thread somewhere here in SBF about grounding or do a search of all my post. All I can tell you now is that you get better response due to better firing of the spark plug..that about sum up from me.
