erm u are rite in a sense .. like u say he wan to do the dam thing mayb jus took him 20 sec to remove the seat from ur bike n 2 sec to cut the wire .. overall 22sec .. if u have a 2way alarm which is u are within the range is ok .. or urs is a open carpark when u can jus look dwn the carpark when it alarm .. but if u are few blk ard from the carpark den 22sec seem too short for anyone to notice (pple may thing the owner 4get to disarm his alarm ? or pple disture ? not sure).. unless happen to have some1 at the carpark .. erm .. after saying all this is still worthwhile cau the theift need to make sure the surround is clear before his act ..if nt he also will scare ..

Aiyah..why you all like that?...people treasure their price and bought an alarm for his bike and you all sound so discouraging. Its better than anyone that do not have..like my bike..I got 4 alarm system installed...cheap one but each has its own function. The point is "Deter" the thieft mah!...adding one more soon....heeeee...x2!

somebody might think that their bike will never get stolen.. or the multi level carpark is safe because got night watch...

 

alarm might not be able to get your bike fully protected from being steal... but at least it can help to alert people around that there is an unusual event... could be a noob thief wanna steal bike.. like those panicky kind of thief... got master key and wanna ride off... if meet up with those pro thief then suck thumb lor...

 

some alarms are able to off the engine if its being riden off unauthorisely...

 

so different people got different point of view la... i just love my bike... that the reason why i put alarm...

In States and other European countries..they have parking stake for motocycles. at least one can use Krytonite uncuttable chain cable to lock their bike frame to it. Our HDB so numb skull..they make for bicycles at void deck..wondering why they can't do he same for motocycle park. May we should get together and petition for it...I bet the stolen bike crime rate would drop.

Yeah.. an alarm is basically a deterence device. Even car alarms can be disabled. But prevention is always the best option.

I think its the cost of installing and maintaing them. Even if HDB installs it, i doubt many bikers will chain their wheels to it.

 

JB got quite a few places which provide a chain (fixed to a metal bar) to wrap around your wheel. e.g. Larkin, Pelangi.. So jus need to bring a lock. But of course, we park our s4 there, the JB thiefs can still strip our bike parts and leave the front wheel which is chained.

Is a throttle cables for S4 change + installation cost around $55? A shop quote me. Tink my cables kaput alrdy.

I ve seen some group taking out a suspension from a bike in larkin. At 1st tot its one of their bike. When i startd to go back hme with my dad frm there saw them thru my rear mirror they running. They RUN away.....! I tink they mite ve stolen it.

With so many people around (I asume you are refering to the bike lots facing a row of shops) and with the Parking Attendent in his booth, the thieves still can steal the suspension.. And there is a bloody police post just abt 50m away from the bike parking lots!!

Its ok, sometimes a professional can also be stupid. There's alot here in my workplace. (Me and a few good men not included)
