Check the Osram Nightbreaker review by S4Vtec, and garage sales thread by quen.

Already asked the same Qn in there. But so far no one has given a definite answer. Thanks anyway :thumb:

By theory...it will..matter of time unless it has the technology like lite saver where example: 150w brightness but actual wattage rating current is at 80w only.

Anyway..better get a better H4 bulb mount.

Ah ok, so maybe i'll go hunting for a ceramic socket then :cheeky: By light saver you mean those energy saver bulbs like toilet use one arh? :cheeky:

The thing is, i see those kind of high wattage bulbs being sold in several bikeshops, and when asked about whether anything will get fried or not, i get varying answers. And me being the cheapo, i would wanna risk pan-frying my wire harness :cheeky:

wats the diff betowen uridium and our normal de spark plug wat are some good uridum spark plug brands?:cheeky:

The difference is the core electrode..very much thinner and you get more concentrated sparking rather than disfuse. Made possible because of the material iridium which is supposing 7 times harder and 13 times stronger and able to use laser to produce. There is no extra horsepower however smoother and better combustion. As for FC..rather not noticeable.

Those overated wattage bulbs are mostly meant for cars. Battery for cars are different especially those "Gel" type where it can provide and are more reliable when higher current demand are needed and this is also subjected to the alternator and rectification to substain charges to the battery...thu scab accomodate these bulbs.

Yes it can be used on bikes but just know that its out of recommended specification as far as load resistance is concern. You will be overloading your battery charging 'system' at a given time Vs load period (the period of time the hi wattage buldb is swirch on continuosly in a strecth of time) thus RELAIABILITY to these components (Alternator coil, rectifier) are affected. Moreover your horn and any other high current demanding end component like electrial horn, fog lamp...etc when use simulataneous may not perform well. I would also be concern about old wires of the bike.

The recomended specs for components use on the bike is usually base on the manufacturer"s overall full load risk factor for the electrical system..for example when the horn, hi/low liite on, brake lites and engine braking situation (not charging battery) all in function simultaneouly, there is so much the electrial system components to thicknesss of wire can handle the current ta that time.

So..its not all about brightness..other matters are a concern too. Electrical fire is one fie that is hard to put out..ikely you can't when its happening to you bike.:giddy: In short..can do but at your own risk...be saver if you can come off with a electronic circuitbreaker (current threshold diode cut-off module)..not a solution but just a prevention measures.

Any kind soul can recommend any trustworthy, reliable shops to do grounding and the pricing as well? Do u think my 6 yrs old spec II require grounding?

I try to have a different relationship with the bike. I don't give it a name, but I always speak with it. I don't know if the other riders do the same. This is not only a piece of metal - there is a soul. The bike talks back too. But not with a voice, with the components" - Valentino Rossi

Check with any mototiam how much they are buying from you..then add in $800 with GST..that should be your rough selling price..+/-10%

Gentlemen, Whats your opinion on putting a higher wattage H4 bulb e.g. 150w/130w ?

You will be overload the electrical circuits, worst case is the wires heat up from the excessive current causing the insulator to melt, eventually causing a short circuit fire. Higher wattage bulbs generate more heat, not only do you have to change the bulb socket, if the reflector is designed for 55w/65w it will not withstand the additional heat also

I'm tempted to put one on, but i'm scared something will get fried in the long run :giddy:

Wah!...magazine review like that... Got say how much current is consumed and at what rate to get that kind of brightness and distance cast or not?..what about the current headlamp wires (H4 Socket) gauge rating..can Tar_han or not for actual lower wattage use...heee...x3!

Actually I was suggesting Dumbnut to tryout the the Nightbreaker that has the same wattage rating as stock but outputs more light.

Already asked the same Qn in there. But so far no one has given a definite answer. Thanks anyway :thumb:

As above, give the Osram Nightbreaker or Philips extreme vision a try, they are the same wattage rating as stock thus will not put unnecessary strain on your electrical system.

Ah ok, so maybe i'll go hunting for a ceramic socket then :cheeky: By light saver you mean those energy saver bulbs like toilet use one arh? :cheeky:

Ceramic socket is not enough, you need to check if the rubber that holds the bulb socket and the reflector can withstand the heat at the kind of wattage.

The thing is, i see those kind of high wattage bulbs being sold in several bikeshops, and when asked about whether anything will get fried or not, i get varying answers. And me being the cheapo, i would wanna risk pan-frying my wire harness :cheeky:

Do clarify if the bulbs are running at a true rating of 150w/130w, some of the manufacturers advertise the the rating of 55w/65w bulb as capable of outputing light similar to 150w/130w. Most of the times they are tinted light bulbs producing light in the white or blue light temperature range. They look brighter because they cause more glare, but they can never output the amount of light of a untinted 55w/65w bulb.

Those overated wattage bulbs are mostly meant for cars. Battery for cars are different especially those "Gel" type where it can provide and are more reliable when higher current demand are needed and this is also subjected to the alternator and rectification to substain charges to the battery...thu scab accomodate these bulbs.

I agree with what Ah Pek said, at 130w nominal and 13v nominal, the bulb will be drawing 10A of current from the battery. Our headlight fuse is rated at 10A, so the fuse need to be change to a higher ampere one, considering this, the electrical harness will need to be changed also.

Everything will fry in no time. :giddy:

The result of the ground is inversely proportional to the condition of the stock ground path. The poorer the stock ground path the more obvious the advantage of grounding. Generally plug ignition should improve, lighting should appear brighter. Mine was done by Ah Pek :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Anybody here experiencing alot of backfire with their bike? I'm using a Yoshimura cyclone endcan along with Denso iridium spark plugs which i just changed 3000km ago.

Been experiencing alot of backfire recently when i just go the bike. Can it be due to cabuerator dirty, sparkplug not igniting properly or my endcan? Can anybody enlighten me on this? =)

If you're buying from a shop, that should be around the price range. From a private dealer, maybe you could get a few hundred bucks off if you bargain nicely.

Ah Pek! I bought the red Carlube 5W40 cos I decided might as well get the AP SM instead of the SL. It's $40.66. Is it really ok to use? My pt work colleague was dead against it. Saying that there's no additives for wet clutch usage. Later the clutch will be burnt if I use car oil. Is there any basis to that?

Planning to change tomoro morning leh. Now people say like that. Haha. :faint:

A backfire occurs when there is an imbalance in the air to fuel ratio. If the fuel mixture is too lean (not enough fuel) you may have a backfire in the intake, or too rich (too much fuel) you may get a backfire out of the exhaust system. Most backfires are easily rectified by correcting the imbalance and providing a greater or lesser percentage of fuel to the mixture.

In short...go have your carbs tuned...not washed to sync with your end can.

I skip the detail lah...if can burn..my bike would be in ashes already. Have a piece of mind..go ahead and use it.

if your friend want to know more..asked him come over Teck Ghee and buy me a plate of Hor_Fun and two Kopee

10/40W would have been better..but anyway..you are using the Coral or STP vicosity anhancer should do great..hopefully it mixes right to 20/50W..damn good for old bike. If you gotten the golden container one..you could have a told of 10 litres for a few $$s more.

Switch to mineral oil next time..I think you like it better for old bike. As for why..Tech Ghee talk only...too much for my old poor fingers to type. Don't forget the magnet.
