Chapter 30 - Of the State of Men after Death, and of the Resurrection of the Dead

1) The bodies of men after death return to dust, and see corruption; Ge 3:19 Ac 13:36 but their souls, (which neither die nor sleep,) having an immortal subsistence, immediately return to God who gave them. Lu 23:43 Ec 12:7 The souls of the righteous, being then made perfect in holiness, are received into the highest heavens, where they behold the face of God in light and glory, waiting for the full redemption of their bodies; Heb 12:23 2Co 5:1,6,8 Php 1:23 Ac 3:21 Eph 4:10 and the souls of the wicked are cast into hell, where they remain in torments and utter darkness, reserved to the judgment of the great day. Lu 16:23,24 Ac 1:25 Jude 1:6,7 1Pe 3:19

2) At the last day, such as are found alive shall not die, but be changed: 1Th 4:17 1Co 15:51,52 and all the dead shall be raised up with the self-same bodies, and none other, although with different qualities, which shall be united again to their souls for ever. Job 19:26,27 1Co 15:42,43,44

3) The bodies of the unjust shall, by the power of Christ, be raised to dishonour; the bodies of the just, by his Spirit, to honour, and be made conformable to his own glorious body. Ac 24:15 Joh 5:28,29 1Co 15:43 Php 3:21

Chapter 31 - Of the Last Judgment

1) God has appointed a day wherein he will judge the world in righteousness by Jesus Christ, Ac 17:31 to whom all power and judgment is given of the Father. Joh 5:22,27 In which day, not only the apostate angels shall be judged, 1Co 6:3 Jude 1:6 2Pe 2:4 but likewise all persons that have lived upon earth shall appear before the tribunal of Christ, to give an account of their thoughts, words, and deeds, and to receive according to what they have done in the body, whether good or evil. 2Co 5:10 Ec 12:14 Ro 2:16 Ro 14:10,12 Mt 12:36,37

2) The end of God's appointing this day is for the manifestation of the glory of his mercy in the eternal salvation of the elect, and of his justice in the damnation of the reprobate, who are wicked and disobedient. For then shall the righteous go into everlasting life, and receive that fullness of joy and refreshing which shall come from the presence of the Lord; but the wicked, who know not God, and obey not the gospel of Jesus Christ, shall be cast into eternal torments, and be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. Mt 25:31-46 Ro 2:5,6 9:22,23 Mt 25:21 Ac 3:19 2Th 1:7-10

3) As Christ would have us to be certainly persuaded that there shall be a day of judgment, both to deter all men from sin, and for the greater consolation of the godly in their adversity; 2Pe 3:11,14 2Co 5:10,11 2Th 1:5-7 Lu 21:7,28 Ro 8:23-25 so will he have that day unknown to men, that they may shake off all carnal security, and be always watchful, because they know not at what hour the Lord will come; and may be ever prepared to say, Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly. Amen. Mt 24:36,42-44 Mr 13:35-37 Lu 12:35,36 Re 22:20

Many modern Christians seem to have developed incredible non-Christian characteristics, and they do not realize it! Righteous is excellent, exactly what the Lord Taught us. But Self-Righteousness seems to have become rampant among many modern Christians! Self-Confidence is fine, but Arrogance of alleged superiority is not. Jesus must certainly be appalled!

It is excellent to have very strong Faith, and to defend that Faith against any critics. Fine! It is excellent to Testify or Witness to others. But there should be a recognition regarding the limitations of our human brains and minds! And a consideration that Jesus tried to Teach us Humility, Tolerance and many other such things.

Many modern Christians, especially a lot of Fundamental Christians, are amazingly aggressive and arrogant regarding claiming that every single detail of whatever they believe is absolutely right and cannot be questioned under any circumstances. NO ONE better dare even question any aspect of whatever they believe. Again, having deep Faith SHOULD mean that you really believe what you believe. But when it goes too far, it becomes a sort of Arrogance, something that Jesus and the Bible Taught us to be cautious about.

Several Scriptural Passages directly address the issue of Arrogance, including 1Samuel 2:3; Psalms 12:4; Proverbs 8:13; Isaiah 13:11. These (and other) Scriptures warn against become arrogant in any regard. This includes our Faith.

It has become common that modern Christians, especially in America, have come to believe that they have absolute and total understanding of every possible aspect of Christian Faith, including every detail. IF any person could actually ever have such absolute and complete knowledge, that means that person either has or believes he/she has an entire and perfect understanding of the Plan of God for man. Such an attitude indicates a belief that the person is as smart as the Lord is, to so completely understand a Plan that has eluded billions of Christians before them, including many who spent their entire lives attempting to understand it. That is essentially the very definition of Arrogance, of an absolute smugness in one's own perfection that no one is allowed to ever question any aspect of it!

This is the spirit of Sanctimoniousness:

Matthew 23:5-7 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. 6 They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, 7 greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’

I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;

A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; ...

Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

-- Isaiah 65: 2-3, 5 (KJV)

After listening to sermons, and if they promote “holier than thou” attitude …..stop listening and be smart. Listen to sermons that promote Jesus and His NEW covenant.

Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God [sermons that promote Jesus and His covenant for us (Gentile) aka THE NEW COVENANT]

Likewise

Sanctimoniousness also comes by hearing, and by hearing sermons that promote religious righteousness (righteousness by works aka self-righteousness)

Let’s be Christ-righteous, not self-righteous!

Shalom,

Apostles' Creed

Advanced Information

For hundreds of years Christians believed that the twelve apostles were the authors of the widely known creed that bears their name. According to an ancient theory, the twelve composed the creed with each apostle adding a clause to form the whole. Today practically all scholars understand this theory of apostolic composition to be legendary. Nevertheless, many continue to think of the creed as apostolic in nature because its basic teachings are agreeable to the theological formulations of the apostolic age.

The full form in which the creed now appears stems from about 700 AD. However, segments of it are found in Christian writings dating as early as the second century. The most important predecessor of the Apostles' Creed was the Old Roman Creed, which was probably developed during the second half of the second century.

The additions to the Apostles' Creed are clearly seen when its present form is compared to the Old Roman version:

I believe in God the Father Almighty. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary; crucified under Pontius Pilate and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. And in the Holy Spirit; the holy Church; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the flesh.

Still earlier fragments of creeds have been discovered which declare simply:

"I believe in God the Father Almighty, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord. And in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the resurrection of the flesh."

The Apostles' Creed functioned in many ways in the life of the church. For one thing, it was associated with entrance into the fellowship as a confession of faith for those to be baptized. In addition, catechetical instruction was often based on the major tenets of the creed. In time, a third use developed when the creed became a "rule of faith" to give continuity to Christian teachings from place to place and to clearly separate the true faith from heretical deviations. Indeed, it may well have been that the main factor involved in adding clauses to the Old Roman Creed to develop the Apostles' Creed was its usefulness in these varied ways in the life of the church. By the sixth or seventh century the creed had come to be accepted as a part of the official liturgy of the Western church. Likewise, it was used by devout individuals along with the Lord's Prayer as a part of their morning and evening devotions. The churches of the Reformation gladly gave their allegiance to the creed and added it to their doctrinal collections and used it in their worship.

The Trinitarian nature of the Apostles' Creed is immediately evident. Belief in "God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth" is affirmed first. But the heart of the creed is the confession concerning "Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord," with special attention given to the events surrounding his conception, birth, suffering, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, exaltation, and coming judgment. The third section declares belief in the Holy Spirit. To this Trinitarian confession are added clauses related to the holy catholic church, communion of saints, forgiveness of sins, resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

The polemical nature of the Apostles' Creed is likewise evident. Emphasizing the unity of God's fatherhood and sovereignty disputed Marcion's rejection of the same. The affirmation of the reality of Christ's humanity and historicity denied the contention of Marcionite and docetic heretics that he was not a fully human person who could be born, suffer, and die. His conception by the Holy Spirit and birth of the Virgin Mary as well as his exaltation after resurrection affirmed Jesus' deity over against those who denied it. Other clauses may well have been added to deal with particular crises faced by the church. For example, the confession regarding forgiveness of sins may have related to the problem of postbaptismal sins in the third century. Likewise, affirming the holy catholic church may have dealt with the Donatist schism.

The Apostles' Creed continues to be used today much as it was in the past: as a baptismal confession; as a teaching outline; as a guard and guide against heresy; as a summarization of the faith; as an affirmation in worship. It has maintained in modern times its distinction as the most widely accepted and used creed among Christians.

nope ...i brought the 3 of them to betong thailand ...now your turn

You took all 3 at the same time or you went there 3 times with each child?

'The camel and the eye of the needle', Matthew 19:24, Mark 10:25, Luke 18:25

Just where is that gate in Jerusalem?

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:24)

When I search through the custom and culture of Jesus’s day, I realise that in Jesus’s days on earth, their culture were eastern, NOT western.

“the eye of the needle” was a small gate at the entrance of Jerusalem and other cities. When the city-keepers had locked the main gates, camels and their owners who arrived after hours could squeeze through this gate.

Realizing the custom and culture of Jesus’s day helps me to visualize and understand the idioms, hyperbole, figures of speech that Jesus used in the times that He walked on earth 2,000 years ago.

For a camel to go through the “eye of a needle” aka small gate … he has to bend it’s neck.

Hence, the way I see this hyperbole “a camel to go through the eye of a needle” … is not being stiff-neck towards God.

Shalom

I knew that the Eye of the Needle was a small gate but what I knew was it still can accommodate a camel that isn't overladen with luggage until that it can't clear the gate. If not, those folks have to ride baby camels to go into the city.

Isaiah 54 was directed to Noah and we are also from Noah lineage ... in a way ... our forefathers are either from shem, ham or japheth

i do agree with you that God is NOT angry with anyone now ... however NOT knowing this truth will give a leeway to satan to work havoc in an unbeliever life. :sian:

Very important to remember if you plan to watch the movie Legion.

As far as i know, I am a child of God by His grace and the finished work on Jesus. Whichever lineage I come from does not add anything to my standing in His eyes. So one can go on and on about Noah, Abraham, David etc and try to ascertain one's ancestry, its still chasing after the wind. It doesn't matter where you come from, Jesus came to save the world.

The Truth is Jesus and what He has done. All are sinners and fall short of the glory of God. This is the Truth that should be shared, and its the Truth that He loves us so much that He send His only begotten Son to be a propitiation for our sins. And not only ours but of the whole world. (1 John 2). The truth is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sometimes we are just curious to see our ancestral lineage. I want to know 'cos I wonder what happened to my ancestors before they went to China. I'm convinced I'm not Chinese but just to make the paperwork fast, i normally say yes otherwise I have more forms to fill.

i stick my sword up you anus and see how write :angel::angel:

''The moment we recognize our complete weakness and our dependence upon God will be the very moment that [His] Spirit will exhibit His power.''

My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers

It's so awesome to think the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from death is living inside us & along side with our human spirit.

Problem is our soul (mind, emotion & will) is trying to satisfy the flesh , to live by sight & not by faith - it tries to contradict our human spirit which is trying to submit to the Holy Spirit. This blocks the manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit.

To overcome this , i believe we can meditate on the living Word regularly , let the living Word renew our mind & transform our soul into obedience, let His Words take captives of our every thoughts. Let His words be like seeds sown into our mind & let every rocks & thorns (worldly distractions) be removed. Then the seeds will germinate & bear fruits a hundred folds. The same power who raise Jesus from death, who heals the sick & the blind , will then flow through us.

All praises & glory to Jesus, the lamb of God, who loves us & died for us & made us priests & princes of God's kingdom (Rev 1:5-6)

John 15:7 (New International Version)

7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

-- it's true & it really works for me. :)

I seriously believe we are all priests of God's kingdom & Jesus is our High priest. And I using scriptures to interprete scriptures.

1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Revelation 1:5-6 (Amplified Bible)

5And from Jesus Christ the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead [first to be brought back to life] and the Prince (Ruler) of the kings of the earth. To Him Who [a]ever loves us and has once [for all] loosed and freed us from our sins by His own blood,(A)

6And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father--to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it).(B)
