Yep, and lots of pro cyclists doing endurance training too.

PM me if you want to ride there this weekend. Day or night doesn't matter since I memorised the course, but safety reasons - prefer day.

I use Neo Tiew to get from Woodlands to Tuas in

Nokia E63 cable tied to my windshield! Mic part behind w/s, camera lens outside. Rain resistant, too.

No need to waste money on miniature digicams, use an old hp with memory card slot. I used to have a proper minicam but the battery is just horrid. Loses all its charge after one month of use.

Make sure camera is secured in X, Y and Z axes. Don't want the thing shaking around.

pls pls pls be careful riding there. I appeal to you NOT to bring unneeded attention to this stretch of rd - One of the few wonderful route left in singapore w/o much attention from 'them'.

For the record, there have been number of fatal motorcycle accidents along this stretch of route -> Not because too serious of an injury but because it's so deserted that the next veh that comes along might be hrs away.

Been riding this route for leisure for the past 8 yrs, enjoyed it very much. Also seen my fair share of trashed motorcycles and wasted 'rally' cars left in drains and ditches!

Dont make our 'frds' camp there for ambush mission. Really not much good route left in SGP....Thanks.

While this is one of the more risky stretches of Singapore road, it's nothing compared to the type of dangers encountered outstation and in rush hour type traffic.

Part of motorcycling safety is learning how to anticipate dangers and handle one's machine competently without unnecessarily pushing the limits.

Thus, Neo Tiew Rd backed by a strong "theory lesson" component is a very good training ground for both individual and group riding.

The general consensus is that the existence of this thread is "very dangerous". If so, what is public opinion on riders who exceed 140kph indicated on the highways, fitting HIDs and aftermarket horns to assail other motorists at will?

Neo Tiew Road does not emphasise on hair trigger reactions and who has the loudest horn to frighten other motorists with. Using it as a commuting route requires strict engine and traction management as well as the ability to anticipate what may be beyond the next blind corner.

Topics pertaining to race physics, such as weight distribution, power to mass ratio, oversteer and understeering tendencies, are aptly demonstrated as the motorcycle tackles repeated hairpin bends and chicanes, at no more than 40-60kph.

It is the lack of exposure to such physics, and the lack of knowledge of how a motor vehicle works that ultimately sends us into unfortunate situations.

Cars do end up in ditches every now and then. Instead of labelling the road unsafe, the drivers of those cars would likely pick them up, repair their mounts and have a go again at the 'highly dangerous' road. It's existence is an invitation to learn, master, and more importantly, respect the dangers therein.

There's a certain skillset involved in urban riding, how to competently change lanes without causing obstructions, how to warn others of approaching dangers in a highly stressed environment (hence preference for aftermarket horns).

Likewise, rural territory demands a certain skillset as well. Preserve it, share it, before it's gone for good.

TS, judging by the way you described every single technicality in the aspect of riding, I suggest you bring your iron horse to Pasir Gudang. There, you want to ride how fast, no TP will catch you. You want to practise your anticipation on blind corners also can. You want to try over steer or understeer, also possible. You want to try riding on sand, also can.. You want 'repeated hairpin bends', they have also have..

Just a suggestion.. No pun intended. Ride safe.

The above so-called "racetrack" skills are crucial in dealing with less than perfect roads, and emergency situations. Not knowing the mechanical principles of a motor vehicle while complacently residing in a passive world of 'safety riding/driving' is ultimately a worse cocktail of death. Because sometimes the 'fatal accident' going to happen isn't caused by you, but it's up to you to save the other person's life.
