So... what are these new drivers going to do in the meantime? I'd be more worried that after 2 years and 1 day, these newly licensed drivers decide to drive daddy's Mercedes and BMW with 2 year old rusty skills.

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

Agreed. Then those foreigners who wanna drive van. Then for me cannot drive my family car is 2.4L and drive 1.6/1.8 altis/ford van/mazda 323 in NS.

Cannot la if like this. Its not like bike where from 200cc to 400cc got so much difference. Car 1.5 to 2.4, in my opinion, its just how heavy your right foot it. More or less, the handling is the same unlike if you ride a 200cc to a 400cc bike.

Pls analyse the content of TP's reply. I can see a few points for rebuttal although I'm reluctant to take it further (because tired of dealing with TP liao).

yo no need to waste time writing to TP or who ever in TP coz i've tried to even write to MP: home affairs minister, perm sec, etc... nobody really gives a damn about riders' issues coz to these "people" s'porean lives are not important: ie no value

to them if u ride motor means u ve no $$ means u don't contribute much to their pockets so y they care???

to them "they have better things" to do like how to improve the economy, how to earn more $$ by summoning, erp, etc y waste time saving a precious life???

if riders like us can think of zillions of ways to improve road safety y those retard TP can't only sumon summon???? my 1cent worth...

hmm. so from what it said is that there is no speed limit and that they did not state the guy is wrong but he IS wrong in the end. seems no point to rebut in my opinion... 70km/h is ridiculous, cars will be honking and they might even report as road hogging ._.

Unfortunately, I have been on both sides of the equation before. My first riding accident happened when a careless driver cut into my path in a sharp corner. I braked too hard and highsided. Left a big permanent scar on my knee. Then a few years later, I was sitting in a colleague's car when she made a turn without checking her blind spot. In the end, a bike collided into the side of the car. Luckily the rider was only slightly hurt.

Although this came a few months late, this morning while travelling from home to work. At Bukit Panjang, a RX8 was tail-gating another vehicle doing U turn at one of junction. After doing U-turn, the RX8 made a sharp lane-change without signalling and blind-spot checking. Just nice, a BMW GS1150 was just beside this RX8. He immediately did a very important thing. Defensive Riding by keeping to the most right of the lane, very near to the kerb, brake hard + jammed Horn.. So who is at fault?? RX8 or GS 1150?? I was about 30m behind them. TP, Please wake up your idea. Do you frequently see accidents involving 2 bikes?? More often is we see accidents involving 1 bike and 1 car or accidents involving 2 cars or more. What does this tells us??

The main causes of motorcycle accidents include:

(a) failure to have proper control, which includes motorcyclists self-skidding and in most cases, no other vehicles were involved in the accidents;

(b) failure to keep a proper lookout, where the motorcyclist failed to do his proper checks to look out for the approach of other motorists and road users; and

© failure to give way to traffic with right of way, for example, motorcyclists coming out from the slip road onto the main road.

6. Traffic Police also recognise that it is equally important for motorists to look out for vulnerable road users like motorcyclists and cyclists. At the onset of training for a learner driver, the importance of looking out for such vulnerable road users, both at the theory and practical levels, is emphasised. Motorists are also taught not to make sharp turns at corners and to slow down and give way to motorcyclists and other vulnerable road users when making a turn. It is also a strict requirement for the trainees and testees to check their blind spots during driving instructions and tests. This is to ensure that drivers take note of motorcyclists and cyclists who may be in their blind spots. All motorists, motorcyclists inclusive, are also taught and reminded to keep to the left lane(s) unless overtaking.

Contradiction.

The TP is stating with a, b, and c that in their view, most motorcycle accidents are motorcyclist fault. Yet they say that it is equally important for other road users to look out for us.

Where then are the safety campaigns aimed at these "other road users" to look out for us?

All I see are campaigns painting us at fault for accidents.

I don't believe them for an instant.

We are alway the loser no matter who has the right of way.

Alway be prepare to give way or avoid even we have right of way than been 'HARD CORE'.

U never know if the other party is day dreaming or driving while on the road.

Defensive riding is the best way to keep one alive :cheeky:

it would be senseless to fix motorcyles speed to 70km/h...

they will be tailgate by vehicle from rear which will impose most danger to this group of road users.

I agree with you..

Yes people you are right.. TP is not helping! And i am in a distress!! Last sat, i juz got my CBR.. was goin home, travelling along kaki bukit viaduct after servicing my bike at bikeworkz. while travelling along the bedok north road towards Kaki bukit viaduct, a car speedin very fast and tailgated me from behind. i turned around and glanced bk at him and i pick up my speed and moved into the inner lane to let that car pass, to my surprise, that car followed suit! he was just haressing me, and tailgated me even closer! at the distance of juz half a bike length at 80kmph. so i have no choice but to speed up. and i squeezed my throttle to a speed of about 120kmph managed to get away from that car at quite a safe distance, saw a TP waved at me, tot he was helping me and noticed that a car was tailgating all the way. Guess what! he summoned me for speeding and dont even care to help me and he told me the system captured me and not that driver. the tp is juz focusing on my bike and did not even take a notice about that car! I explained to him my situation and he just give me that heck care look.. i tot i saw a guardian angel on the road... my foot..
