Quite surprised that this debate is still going on. But I kind of agree with what fufu wrote. The best bike is the one which you perform the best on. If you make the fastest laptimes on a CBR, go for it. If you make your best times on a RVF, power to you, too.

Personally I have not tried my personal best on a RVF. But I think I have learnt a lot on my CBR and it is a very good bike to learn and have fun on. (In contrast, I tried big bikes like ZX10R and GSXR1000, which a good bikes but a little scary to learn on.)

Hey, don't forget those who are still stuck at 2A, as well as those who aren't intent on upgrading soon.

RVF vs R1? That's gonna kill the results...

aniwae honda japan's leading engineer once commented dat V4 engine best 4 racin and dat cbr is to do everything, not jus racing only lah....de modern r1 i tink quite "soft" liao leh...the pre2001 r1 more crazy..if i gt money i by both pre01 r1 n rvf...r1 gt performance n rvf gt soul mah...aniwae bikes win against cars lor - in terms of performance lah..:)

A yellow R6 or a old school RC45? Aiyah, just take both lah...

One thing came into my mind while I was reading the various posts here:

Upon reading how Honda came up with the RVF, I found out that this fine NC35 is a culmination of race-track and perhaps riding experience being brought to life. They essentially took what they knew about sportbiking, plus the fact that they wanted to manufacture something that fit the restrictive Japanese multi-tiered licensing scheme (just like our Class 2b, a , full 2)

Did it ever occur to you guys here that the RVF was a new breed of 400cc sportbikes?

So, the vote, when you cosider something like this:

CBR vs RVF

...it is almost the same as saying:

Grandaddy of 400cc trusted racebikes

vs

reincarnated, young, and miniaturized version of a 750cc racebike

...and also:

Horsepower hungry Inline-4 engine

vs

Torque'y V-4 engine

Last but not least, and hopefully not quite a disappointment to both sides favouring either one:

53hp (restricted) vs 53hp (restricted)

So folks, take your pick. Maybe pit a friend to a race on a controlled track, RVF and CBR, and let's see the results :thumb:

get the bike according to your love and desire for it.

no 2nds, 3rds. if u love it, it will all be worth it. iz just like the recent debate about babies making. even if govt give yr kid free education, free babysitiing, free milk supply, it will not be worth it if you dun love kids.

i noe :offtopic: la... just an analogy in this case.

for me, RVf is the right bike for me coz i love it for its v4 engine exclusivity. the sound of the engine 'wreeee---ing" away is sensational (read:high).

its manuverebility as mentioned just sweetens the whole package. it was the epitome of HRC research efforts for SBK in 94. Its technology slowly trickles down to the street level, giving birth to the street legal RC 45 ( RVF 750). with Japan's past uptight liscensing laws restricting most bikers to 400ccs, Honda made no efforts unspared to homogate the RVF's technological acheivements been known to these genereal biker populations.

Thus they made the minature RVF 400 (NC 35) to satisfy the home markets's thirst for SBK dreams.

The NC is everything that its big brother RC45 is....just in a smaller package but built just as handsomely.

ppl say Rvfs are expensive. but u see, it is a representation of R&D at the forefront of racing developement been trickle down to street users. just like the F1 technology of 10 years ago been present only in today's sportscars. or perhaps the likely event of MotoGp's triumpant RCV 211 been developed into a street legal version few years later.

that is the RVF story. i can go on about its cousins the NC30s but its pointless.

the thing is ; V4 engines are expensive to produce. naturally this will reflect in the machine's cost price. so live with it, if u love the throb of a vee engine, its gg to cost u abit.

and for me, the rvf is a companion for at least the next 3 years and i 've no regrets so far.

reliabilty issue? someone once said..."define reliabilty" to a lamer who kept shooting down RVFs. and i agree. because i believe no matter what machine u ride, the bike will treat u the way u treat it. treat it like trash and it'll give u shitloads of probs. treat it with care and it 'll reward u with a lifetime of riding joy.

my $1 worth of opinions.

:cheer:

swee swee la thats wat i feel too. the bike is worth every cent if u are totally in love with it.:thumb: ppl who keep pressing rvf down are either those that wanted to buy rvf but too ex for them and choose are sportbikes and taste the sour grape when they see so many rvfs on the road roaring through so nicely or some just purely feel they dun like it. for me i super duper dun like super 4. just the same as some dun like rvfs. and frankly my 2yrs with rvf and im still so in love with it. no way will i sell it to outsiders or rather i wan my frens to take over it if i ever change class 2 so i can always still look at my beloved rvf :)

Personally, I think that RVF has a better pick up than CBR. But when its on a straight road.. CBR gets on faster. Well, its about the rider anyway. But base on machine to machine, i'm not that sure..

:)

i rather choose inline4 cbr then v4 rvf .. Each to their liking. I perfer cbr4 sound hahaha!
