Got fined $400 by aljunied town council for parking my bike at a common area

i was just persistent on telling them i got no money to pay and even offered to show them my bank account that time. btw, it wasn't straight from $1K to less than $20. they reduced the fine a few times, then finally just ask me pay admin charges.

After much persistance from me .. went to the MP and raise my voice at Ms Lim Hwee Hua (never quarrel just merely raised my voice) she mentioned that she will write to the HDB and ask about this issued..

 

True enough less than 2 weeks, letter from the town council came back .. the original fine was reduced to admin charges which i really didnt want to pay..

 

During the 2nd meet the people session, i asked them to put themselves in my shoes, why is it that a seasoned parking holder would want to park at the common area.. if i didnt purchased a seasoned parking then it's understandable.. but no! i paid a good 6 mths worth of parking lot.. aren't i entitled to a proper parking lot then risked myself getting un-necessary fine.. am i suppose to sleep with my bike while waiting for a parking lot..

They merely smiled and say they will feedback to the hdb and town council.. i was like wtf!

This really shows how efficient the town councils are in terms of fining the resident.. wasn't the town council set up in the name to provide good standard of living for the residents?

Or am i being the sacrificial lamb so that they can use this miserable sum of money to do whatever they are trying to do..

Adding to that.. the HDB also came back with a letter saying "we'll look into the matter and try to come out with more parking lots"

 

it seems that they are just trying to close this case and forget about it..

Well done, Exu! You've already come this far in sticking it up to the TC and their nonsense. How about writing another letter claiming from them YOUR admin charges? Just take your monthly pay, divide by 200 hours/mth to get your hourly rate and multiply by your time spent pointing out the error of their ways to them... LOL

kudos man.. i was in the same situation.. nvr miss any season parking payment for the past 7 years.. what i did was take every single bike's plate number and the number of bike lots available.. then i took picture of those bikes that have been illegally parked.. some parked besides the lots where there are no lots.. some share one parking lot.. i saw 3 parked in one before! of course i snapped pic.. the best part, parking attendance came, parked in one of the lot and never do anything.. walk ard and thats it.. what else, i took pic again.. lucky i did all this.. i was then patience cos i only took pic but did not bring the issue up until they slap me with a fine.. only me! i took out all the evidence, post to them, and threatened to give the mp a copy..

haha.. just go take photograph.. then send them together with ur appeal letter.. they surely will not accept one.. but nvm.. after u send in the appeal letter.. they reject.. u go straight to ur MP.. go there KPKB.. say you seasoned coupon holder then no lot..

Wah sounds like you have "bought" (Read rent) a flat of 99 years, They never give you your flat to stay in due to their renovation. You then sleep in the park and kena fine for sleeping in the park and still want you to pay the admin fee.

 

I strongly believe that it is their job to inform the residents where they can park during the renovation. If they have not done so, it is not right to even ask for the admin fee. Of cos, if they have informed the residents before hand, Just pay the admin fee and move on le.

Wah sounds like you have "bought" (Read rent) a flat of 99 years, They never give you your flat to stay in due to their renovation. You then sleep in the park and kena fine for sleeping in the park and still want you to pay the admin fee.

2nd timer - If first warning is given, will be $200

 

3rd timer - $400

based on my experiences, this is the amount that i pay to "built" new parking areas at my house there just recently.

its the same story over at my side.. im not complaining that other riders didn't get fined or whatever, perhaps its just a case of a bad luck.. but the thing is.. what i dislike in their system is the accumulative portion.. if my offences are back-to-back.. then fine i've no qualms and i will be willing to pay.. this time round.. it's a genuine case of insufficient parking lots and that the bikes to parking lots ratio are like 3:1 everyone is snatching the lots..

Wow. After reading all e post in here, nw only i knw hw serious it is to park anyhow except in the bike lots. I always park under my mums void deck, when paying her a visit. its better be smart than sorry from nw on. Thanks TS 4 bringing up this issue, n e rest for their un-expected experience.
