Hi Guys,

I dont change my hp very often , maybe every 2 years.

As such i dont keep up with the models.

I'm thinking of changing my phone but have absolutely no idea which is a good phone to get.

My requirements:-

Speakerphone

SMS efficient

WAP

Bluetooth

WIFI

GPRS

PDA

Camera

Video

Music

Basically I'm looking for the most user friendly function-packed PDA phone.

Heyos, Throttle,

one thing I gotta add that should surpass all of the above is reliability.

Might want to consider that coz, speaking from personal experience, all of the above packed into one PDA-phone will come to nought when the PDA keeps hanging and hard-resetting (resulting in total data loss) every several days.

With that aside, I would say the Handspring Treo 650 (the Palm OS model) is a good consideration.

Has most of the above, or should I say all, and is damn reliable.

Downside I guess is the OSes' simplicity, lacking the eye-candy of Windows PPC OS.

But if you can get past that, then it wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, i'll continue to look around becos , no urgency at all, just itchy backside...heh heh

Dude...You might want to check out these models HERE.

One of these new upcoming models should meet your needs. They should reach our shores by early December.

A cheaper alternative would be getting the 02 838pro. The price for this will fall once the Dopod models come in.

my O2 atom is pretty nice.. small and fits into my pocket nicely, and it has most of the main features, cept for 3G & GPS functions.

there's really not much difference for pda, except for the hardware specs and mayb the outlook, as most of them are usin the same few OSs.

my choice would be o2... just plainly i like tat model... anyway GPS can be installed into any PDA as long as u can find e program... n u might wanna wait a while more cos all PDAs now dun hav 3G... but WiFi, bluetooth n such is already installed most branded PDAs... but bear in mind to take good care of ur PDAs cos its just like a laptop... more fragile... i cracked my o2 screen once n it cost approx $150 - $250 if i'm not wrong... anyway PDAs will appeal more if u do business or u need a "mini-laptop" on-the-go"... cheers... :cheeky:

I say, Dopod 838Pro. Stable OS and has everything u need, less the GPS.

jus got my O2 sleath & it has got everything throttle wld need but its really small so not sure can get used to or not.

dopod 838 pro is quite gd but if u dnt need the keypad, can always get the recent launched dopod D810, its almost the same as the 838 pro

do look out for HSDPA connectivity as tis will be the upcoming step for wireless bradband from singtel & m1

I think there's plenty of Nokia phones to suit your needs. But since we were on the topic of PDA phones... I was considering getting a GPS unit for some light travelling in malaysia but i saw some phones are starting to incorporate GPS into its functions.

So i was thinking, should i be getting a PDA phone with GPS functions or should i get separate sets?

Anyone using such a set now?

can't really say leh.

For all its tech fallacy, HP customer service seems pretty good. I didn't have to wait long to send and collect, it had a wonderful waiting area (free Internet kiosks, biscuits & Milo/coffee dispenser) and the counter staff are pretty friendly. The turnaround time for some to contact you is within its promised 3 working days.

Then again, I used to work there as a laptop technician.

how much is a GOOD GPS set? roughly....?

garmin sets retail for ard 700 i think?

Well think about it this way, the problem with everything built in means that everything will drain that single battery. My pda, if i on wifi and msn, within 90 mins the batt will be close to flat.. GPS can last me for about 2 hrs plus

Convenience over batt life, have to decide

Wildcard, i noe wat u mean by HP's cust service.. makes u feel like king there huh... heh.. in fact alot of the tech companies are trying to adapt their cust service areas to like that.. ibm has a self-service fridge with drinks inside..heh... but HP takes the cake here, apparently if u go during lunch time, they give coupon for u to have lunch @ their canteen

 a good color Garmin GPS with memory expansion slots for free downloaded maps is about $400 only.

PDA GPS can do search for house block numbers unlike the Garmin GPS.

Btw , courts selling HP Ipaq 6828 PDA phone for cash S$799 only. But too bad no GPS.

I think the Dopod P800W (GPS & Wifi) can get for S$999.
