there's no model as D838.

d838 =dopod 838pro.

actually i would prefer something running on 400mhz with wifi, GPS & runs on window mobile 5.

In the past I have used 3 different types of operating system PDA - Palm O/S , Symbian 60 series O/S smartphones & Pocket PC O/S phones.

Although Pocket PC hangs more often than the rest (coz its Microsoft), the plus factor is my words , excel & powerpoints documents can be read flawlessly on my PDA. Internet pages too can be viewed 99% of the time unlike the other PDAs. Furthermore, the latest Pocket PC version - Window mobile 5 allows all database to be stored in the flash Rom similar to Palm PDAs. So when all batteries go flat , no information is lost.

At least 400mhz is necessary to runs Skype.

I would prefer either dopod P800W or HP Ipaq hw6965. But must remember to squeeze the vendor for extra GPS maps (Malaysia & Thailand & Spore)

yesterday I went to Courts at bt timah & notice they have sales on HP Ipaq RW6828 selling at $799 on cash & no contract. Extremely good deal for a 400mHz PDA with Wifi, but too bad no GPS.

i still rem e 1st time i tried voice on skype was when 818pro was 1st launch in SG.

other party was in taiwan, of cos there's slight lag during start-up & during e 1st few seconds of e call. no problem after tat.

oh, i'm was on .11G when on skype.

skype is out for mi now, we've been testing e Windows LIVE Messenger for few mths.

it's not same as e pocket MSN tat comes with e default programs.

WLM is actually for WM6/WM5SE aka 'CrossBow' but was leaked out later.

it's actually way way much betta than e default pocket MSN.

it can send/recevie voice clips, emotions icons, files, recevie nudge.

con is: it actually sync all my MSN contacts into my contacts. -.-

send mi a PM with yr e-mail add if u wan it.

i dun mind sharing it with u.

& no, it's not avaliable @ MS webby now, & i dun think it'll be in e future.

such programs will be stored in ex.Rom in yr device, not d/l.

it does support voice clip, not voice conferencing.

u r able to save e individual voice clips.

so, it's working fine on yrs?
