Try the shops at SLS... If you're lucky, maybe $30? They'll just take it in as spare parts.

 

Last time when I want to dispose off my old laptop (mobo gone case), one of the shops don't even want it unless it's $0. Think I finally got $50 for it from another shop (that's ~3 years ago).

 

Its a fully working laptop. Nothing about it is spoilt. Only the outlook isnt really that good, perhaps a 5/10.

 

If its too worthless i think i'll just give it away to the nearest half-way house or orphanage. Got laptop better than no laptop.

I think lots of shops there selling 2nd hand R31 really dirt cheap, so if i were u dun expect to get much....like chuan says, most prob from 0-50. You can consider orphanage.

hi all , i have a problem with my HP Pavilion Dv2 notebook , this notebook i got it as a freebie from starhub for signing up for maxonline, recently this computor crash , i sent to HP , HP reply software no warrenty , need to pay or self recovery , the problem is , i do not have the disc as i didnt burn out the disc as i do not have a external writer .

 

any kind soul have the recovery disc burn out would burn one copy to me? i would pay for the disc and go to your house to collect . i could offer to give u a few DVD r to appreciate your help.

hmmm, does it come with a recovery partition?

nowadays they have two options, either burn it out and keep as recovery discs, or have a recovery partition that can be used to recover instead.

hi ,it does, however i was told that the recovery parition that is able to recovery the system is corrupted , so the disc is the only solution, the model is HP pavilion DV2. so iwas hoping somebody has that particulat recovery disc so i can get from

so my gf laptop is spoil, sent in to hp but was quoted very very exp. you guys know where to get laptop repair cheap/reasonable price? anyway the spoilt part is mobo. but i dono how to fix laptop, if desktop no prob. . haha.

TS, frankly speaking, if mobo spoil, its gonna be expensive no matter where you go. A laptop is essentially "everything else" built around a mobo. Not like a desktop where they all can be easily replaced. I know the price "quoted" can almost buy you a new laptop. You can try Sim Lim Square ah.

Install any operating system you like, and should you decide to go with Windows, you might wish to download specific drivers for this laptop from HP website..

Windows 7 should be able to identify all hardware without problems.. All other goodies.. - Internet is a big place... Google is your friend.

I have and always used isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). Use sparingly on your LCD screen as the protective coating may be dissolved in the process. But hell, it works!

 

Also can be used to clean thermal paste off your CPU/GPU/Heatsinks etc.

hi guys,

 

i was using this old default graphic processor or whatever you call it,

came with the laptop by default and it used to have cool features like when i connect it to a TV it will automatically show videos i play on VLC player on the tv in Full screen. which means it doesn't actually clone the display on my monitor to the tv but just brings the video i'm playing right to the tv set.

 

but then came Call of Duty 6 i had to uninstall my ATI catalyst crap and install a new one, i think its 9.2 or something. my COD6 then worked fine and i had alot of fun playing the game but i realized i lost all the cool features i had before.

was wondering how i would be able to enable it again?

now it still shows on the tv set but all it does is CLONE everything onto the monitor it doesnt even allow me to switch to JUST the tv display.(which is a little irritating because i have like 2 screens in front of me)

 

any clue on what i have to do to get it back to the way it was before?
