As requested by one of the members here, below is the info for dent removal -

Ah Yew is the guy who knocks the dents out. he does not have his own shop nor will he remove your fuel tank. Charges about $40 to $50, depending on difficulty. Address - blk 4035 amk ind pk 1 #01-53 (metal workshop which he shares)

there is a bike shop along the same row that will remove your tank for $15 for Ah Yew to fix. Address - blk 4035 amk ind pk 1 #01-39

time taken to remove dent is 30mins. time taken to remove and replace tank is 1hr.

I have a dent on my tank. Can this guy really remove the dent on fuel tank w/o damaging the tank paint work?

My 82' old horse need to be permanently put down due to its age but I still love her though. So been going around all over the places to find good deal newer bikes.. At 1st my mind was long set to take AT but then saw tdm900 and started to this mixed feeling.

So after checked around the price and my budget for 2nd hand bike I chose AT back...

Today went to Loois and saw a vtrom 1000 and the new one cost is somewhere close to a new tdm900. Now my mind getting haywired liao...

Came back and checked this reviews and thinking maybe I should get this v strom coz I like wat I read bout this baby...

Will be going over this afternoon with my wife and Hope vstrom owners can give some pointers once i get this beauty... Wish me luck!!!

Why don't you consider the Varadero 1k as well.

These bikes belong to somewhat same categories and are good for touring. From my experience, TDM and Vstrom doesn't provide as much wind protection as the Varadero.

TDM has the best engine performance, the parallel 900cc twin revs happily like a inline 4. Pull cleanly from idle but is sweetest at higher rpms.. 5k up. Overall lacking in handling and touring aspect. The jerky on-off throttle response from the fuel injection is also a minus. Brakes, lightweight and great fuel consumption are a plus.

Varadero engine is rate at slightly higher peak power than TDM but bcos of the heavy bike. ~30+kg heavier than the TDM, it just doesn't feel as powerful as the TDM. but nevertheless, the V90 big twin speaks of character.. you can really feel the engine "breathing" and working under you. its addictive. Handling and brakes are also plus points. Wind protection is the best in its class. Lousy fuel consumption for carburetor models (pre03). Seems like the most capable bike for minor off road riding, although I have never test the bike off road before.

For the Vstrom, tried for a short ride. Position and size wise slightly larger than TDM but still smaller than Varadero. Don't think the wind protection will be too much better than the TDM. Not particularly impressed with engine performance during city riding. Not too sure why..its also a V90 1000cc twin derived from the TLS.

Hope it helps.

Mr civicblade, I did consider for a varadero b4 got my vstrom. Even African Twin was in consideration. But it seems that Vara is a larger bike and heavier as compared to Vstrom and more $$$.....

For me I prefer the lighter and not $$$...

so Mr chewbakka, have u made ur choice? :goodluck:

Now a proud owner of blue strom. It did crossed my mind to get a Varadaro but the price turned me off. If not wrong a little more cash and I can get a FJR.... But I'll make do with strom coz I do like its lightweight and the size fits me too ... Only the petrol is a killer... but no complain though...

Thanks guys for those advices and comments on all these bikes... See you guys on the road.

Hi Chewbaka,

Congrats on your new Vstrom.

Did you get it new? How much does it cost you On the Road minus insurance?

What is the price of a new Varadero? I think the FJR cost $24k with insurance OTR from Hong Leong.

A new varadero cost almost the same? That's quite costly.. maybe its due to the fact that all varaderos are made in Spain.

The cost trickles down to us consumers due to the cost of manufacturing and spares parts prices are sky high for the varadero as well. Honda must be selling loads of Varaderos in Europe to have them built there.

HI All

Any one know which shops in Singapore sell new (first-hand) V-Stroms?

How much are they OTR (35-year old rider's insurance)

Thanks for the answers
