Hi all,

I've came across this anti theft device in the papers quite a while back, it is a cover for the ignition key hole. Basically it is to be attached to the ignition key hole and the cover can slide to close the ignition key hole. The cover can be secured with an external pad lock.

I wonder whether such a device actually works to prevent theft. Of course this is not for bikes with immobilisers and all, rather for normal bikes that does not have the electronic means of loss prevention.

I had thought of getting one for a 2nd hand bike that i might want to buy on top of the normal disc locks and all. Just wondering the feasibility of this device, that's all.

Also I wonder what ways would I have to attach the device to the ignition.... Epoxy glue or drilling a hole? Though I wouldnt really want to drill a hole on the ignition after all... :)

Any help?

the chain definitely works lol! but no pole to chain it to. Unless on pavement or lampposts... then if typical sgporeans complain? Say trip over and etc.... Maybe get HDB to build poles to allow us to chain to? Avoid bike being carried away....

It's quite a useless device to me.

To jump the ignition, I don't even need to access the keyhole.

ya I know. But prevention is important too. To the novice, they will look at the keyholes. But nothing can stop a determined thief either.....

Just my thoughts and few cents worth.... :)
