I am currently an SP and recently, i realised my bike gets hot really easily. Just like today, about 20 minutes into my ride, my bike got really hot under my seat and on the left side of my fairing. the battery is on the right though..

Wonder if theres any thing wrong with my bike.

And my signals!, one moment they are working, next, they are not. Then it works again.. is it the wiring? or could there be a problem with the battery?

thinking of sending my bike for checkup but decided to find out a lil whats wrong with my bike here first so i dont get $$$$ : )

THNKS : )

1. Heat = check coolant, stuck in traffic jam and start stop traffic engine will be hot... cos no air circulation. Its normal.

2. Signals.. Check wiring... trace any loose connection. This will be a headache to do....

Check your coolant and see if it has sufficient level. If not, just top up. Also check to see if your coolant is in good condition. If you can see dirt or metal bits in it, get it flushed and change with new coolant ASAP.

Secondly, check your Engine oil dipstick, see if the level is enough or not. Actually that is more leaned towards four stroke machines, but get it checked none the less. Also, check if your 2T pump is working!

Lastly, get your carb tuned properly. If your engine is running too lean, it will overheat easily.

Thx for the reply but how do i check for the coolant? sorry rather new here..

yeah i know stopping and going gonna heat up my bike quite abit but it hasnt been the case so far : )

sp should be doing avg fc 20km/l.

as blahhh mentioned, engine will run hot if carb is set lean, the leaner the hotter it is.

no point saving a few cents of fuel n get more engine problems.

here r list of problems by saving a few cents of fuel:

1) very hot engine.

2) coolant boiling, need top-up frequently.

3) cooking engine 2t n gearbox oil, breakdown/evaporate faster.

4) metal parts expansion at extreme causing failure of parts.

5) rubber seal/plastic parts gets brittle n break, lost it's functioning properties.

6) not running at it's optimum power, slacking pickup, poor performance.

7) fuse spark plug.

8) seizure of engine.

n many many........more.

so why save a few cents of fuel tat will gives u more problems than enjoy riding ur bike.

Very correct - if you have to tune mixtures on a regular basis you're flying a 1940s B17 bomber, which uses rich mixture for starting and full-power climbs, and a lean setting for long range cruise.

Both these settings require adjustment of supercharger speed, intercooler position, and are dependant on altitude and atmospheric temperature. Don't forget prop pitch and manifold pressure :D

Your bike isn't that complex, right? Isn't climbing Mt. Everest?

Leave it at slight rich and forget about it :D

Bad FC comes from over-richness however. I think mepkoh can explain that :D

If the bike equip with radiator you can check the following after confirming that coolant was at correct level.

1. Temperature sensor

2. Thermostat

3. Water pump (*if any)

4. Hose

5. Radiator Fan

But at times heat build up might due to slow moving traffic, uphill, hot weather etc... Again there's no harm doing some check :)

For signal, maybe you can confirm the wiring first, follow by the switch of the signal (*might be poor contact). Else the solenoid might be wacko.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Hey bro I have just done full service and change my piston not long ago but how come my sp like very hard to start last time just need 2 kick to start but now more than that and need to pull choke ?? 2nd why my temp is high till the 1/2 point show on the meter just start and blow abit jui like that can anyone ans mi thanks

Did you change piston rings and all that? Give it time to wear in, temps will go down in due course.

Also, may want to ask your mech to increase richness of the fuel air mixture (aka "carb setting") to allow for better charge cooling. Over-lean = HOT and eventually reduced power output. Provided you know where the screw is, you can even DIY.

Those aftermarket coolants like Engine Ice can also help you.

If carb setting is over-lean then you need to pull choke to enrich the starting mixture for easier initial burning. Lean settings are not recommended unless you realllly know your technical stuff - in normal conditions it will just run very hot.

Engine ice is some sort of high performance coolant which you might want to try, since your bike is a hottie. I'm betting its the mixture setting. Turn one screw and try, easy to do.

SP which quick to overheat is not normal, but have some problem.

above are good suggestions from knowledgable forumers.

try to solve the problem first, and not to mask it with product like engine ice.

at least sp's have coolant to aid in cooling. waves rxz all those air cooled are:cry: hahahhaa

bro...

Over Lean would means this?

Of a fuel-air mixture, having more air than is necessary to burn all of the fuel; more air- or oxygen- rich than necessary for a stoichiometric reaction.

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

Yep. Unless you can fly piston engined aircraft (or at least know what the mixture setting does), it's recommended to run rich for the cooling. Lean = HOT. Get used to the bike then gradually tune to lean for better economy :3

Fuel injected bikes run lean all the time; the electronics can safely decide for you the optimal mixture setting depending on running conditions, and automatically enrich when the throttle is whacked.

thanks for the explantation.. i was at planet just now.. lolx.. okok.. den mine is normal.. :p
